incredibly competent ruler by historians, and laid the foundations for a state which would
stand for centuries after his death. Accomplished through a long series of military campaigns,
during which he utilized his tactical prowess to revolutionize Damotan warfare. Upon
conquering a sizable portion of the region, he managed to unite the rest in a single diplomatic
masterstroke, issuing an invitation to all remaining chieftains to meet with him, a conference
which would result in a mass declaration of fealty, with Eshwo officially declaring himself
Boqqar. Soon after this accomplishment, he assisted in codifying the Mogowai faith, assisting
in the creation of the first written form of the Hymns of Heaven, and would use this faith to
help control his empire, bringing religious authority to match his secular power. Upon his
death, the throne would pass to his designated heir Letanya

Essaid Ibn Yusuf
Biography
Eldest son of Yusuf, Essaid inherited a stable realm with a full treasury, strong armies, and
ambitions of finally securing a Wardenite victory in the War in Heaven. Exactly how much
blame for losing all four of these rests on his shoulders is a matter of debate. Chroniclers
writing during the reign of his two brothers would portray Essaid as a spendthrift and a
wastrel, obsessed with gambling and dancing girls. Authors writing during his own reign were,
however, far more sympathetic.
His reign is also known for a breakdown in relationship between the Mamuramat and Abdar,
as the latter attempted to cement his authority in the east by first trying to get Essaid to cede to
him the Mamuramat of the East, and later all but declaring himself a pretender to the title.
Regardless, the division of authority between his brothers Muktafi and Qa’im quickly caused
problems, primarily stemming from a rivalry between Essaid and Muktafi that seems to have
had origins during their childhood. The feud ignited into all-our war when Essaid sent his chief
minister Al Baraqwi with an army to arrest Muktafi in 961. Qa’im, always closer to Muktafi
than Essaid, rallied his armies to defend him against his eldest brother. The war dragged on
until 966 before Essaid was captured and executed on the orders of Muktafi, who would
ascend to the Mamuramat over the corpse of his own brother.

matter as Arch Lich Silas Stavro invaded, and was imprisoned by them. Eventually escaped and
became a companion to the Champion of Chevalie, who aided her in restoring her title in
return for her aid against Stavro. Relinquished her throne after the war, and traveled the world

warring with the warlord Oulnir Gurdabok for their competing claims of the Black
Mountains. Considered imperious and cunning, she would use the arrival of Governor-Legon
Nicanoneus ‘the Black Sun’ in her war, just as Gurdurbok would. After Nicanoneus defeated
Cenware ‘Witch-Breaker’ in battle and slew Gurdurbok, she became convinced that he would

after. She was caught escaping west into Chevalie by Nicanoneus, and was then executed.

Biography
Muktafi took the throne in 966. The conflict which was rapidly becoming known as the
Fratricide War had drained the Mamuramat’s treasury and seriously destabilized the
administration. To make matters worse, Abdar formally severed all relations with the Mamur,
claiming that Muktafi’s seizure of power by killing his brother was utterly illegal (which, by
most sane readings of Wardenite law, it was), and claimed he was formally assuming the title of
Mamur of the East by Principle of Acclaim (a legal contingency intended for possible
battlefield disasters, wherein should the Mamur and all possible successors be eliminated,
Wardenite soldiers in the field were empowered to acclaim one of their own - in this case Abdar
himself - as Mamur)
Muktafi would follow his older brother in suffering a violent death. He is believed to have been
stabbed by a poisoned sword wielded by an Abdari partisan and died in agony. In the ensuing
panic his brother Qa’im took authority, first as regent (Muktafi’s only son was three years old at
the time), and later fully assumed the title of Mamur.

Mutarshid is sometimes referred to as the “Mamur with two fathers” in reference to the
unusual nature of his upbringing (born to Muktafi, effectively raised by Qa’im).
Mutarshid was largely disinterested in day to day rule, preferring to focus his efforts on magical
studies and correspondences with various magi across Aeras. He spent large amounts of money
on patronizing Continental Magi, and stocked the court with a revolving door of Aversarian
Magi advisors. Day to day affairs were largely delegated to his Chief Minister, a position whose
authority would continue to grow over subsequent generations. During his time it was held by
a series of eunuchs, most prominently Luzzo Al Keffali (A Chevalien who many suspected was
not actually a eunuch, but Mutarshid trusted him too implicitly for the rumors to matter too
much)

Naramaššin
Biography
Arakkariac warlord who invaded Tower Isle in 393 BI, and was rumored to ritually enslave and

Likely invaded due to provocations from the proto-Aversarian city-states, and despite early
claims that his realm was destroyed after a defeat by the Aversarians at the Battle of Paelon Hill,
he actually withdrew due to the great unprofitability of continued conflict. Likely would have
been successful had his empire not disintegrated into a civil war after the death of Naramaššin

Biography
Third of the Tahtalite Mamurs, Nasir’s reign saw the rate of expansion of the Mamuramat
slow, and apart from a few territories taken in Uraghad by ambitious local commanders few
new territories were conquered. Instead, much of Nasir’s energies were directed internally in a
series of legal disputes as a new generation of jurists began to question the somewhat dubious
legality of Tathtali’s assumption of the United Mamuramat. He was successfully able to hold
off the assault by appealing to the principle of Consent in Command, whereby the consensual
marriage of Sanad, serving Mamur of the East, and Tathtali, serving Mamur of the Center, and
their mutual agreement that a single heir should inherit both titles made the assumption a legal
and legitimate act.
While the dissenters, namely the influential scholar Yusuf al Shirlagi (nisba due to his family’s
Amsari Siralagi heritage), were defeated, many of their arguments would resurface a few
generations later in the leadup to the Kathisti Dissent and the ensuing Tel Merrha revolt. But
these events were centuries in the future, and at Nasir’s death in 899 the future of Tathtali’s
Mamuramat seemed bright.
He also proscribed a number of schools as “Radical” including the Tashbari’a in 895

Governor-Legon of Katraddia and self-styled Aautokratir of Epavarion (the Ebon League).
Was born the youngest son of the Governor of Katraddia in the midst of the Fog consuming
the north, and grew up knowing nothing besides death and war. Was leading soldiers before he
was a teenager, and took his father’s titles after his father and brothers both were killed by
Cenware ‘Witch-Breaker’ and his army. Unsuccessfully attempted to cut the Sjalvolki off at the
Grey Gates so that he could lead his coalition of Apokiakians and loyal natives west, but was
defeated and forced to cross through the Fog to enter Kalathipsomi. Fought his way to the
Black Mountains, where he and his army then served both sides in the on-going Black
Mountain War.
Killed both Oulnir Gurdurbok and Governor Methiad Dethlycan after tiring of them, became
the only Aversarian to defeat Cenware in battle, and then attempted and failed to invade into
Chevalie for supplies. Was horribly disfigured there, and forced back to the Black Mountains
after great losses, forming Epavarion and preparing a final stand then after. Had children with a
camp follower he fell in love with in a rare moment of humanity, but she would die in
childbirth and he and his children would grow to hate one another thanks to his poor
parenting.

Qa’im Ibn Yusuf
Biography
Yusuf’s third and youngest son, Qa’im was a quiet and contemplative man - and exactly the
person the Mamuramat needed after Essaid and Muktafi. Rumored to have never lain with a
woman, Qa’im produced no heirs, and upon his death the Mamuramat passed to his brother
Muktafi’s only child Mutarshid whom he had effectively raised as his own son. Indeed, it is
generally believed that Qa’im and his confidant and advisor Dryanius (an exiled Aversarian
mage who had taken up permanent residence in Sarradon, the two are believed to have met
sometime around 942 IS) were in an exclusive same-sex relationship until Dyranius’ death in
1000 IS.
Qa’im’s 22 year reign was a calm period that saw peace return to the Mamuramat. It was,
however, during this reign that the rate at which leases made to Marcher and Aversarian
merchants increased dramatically. Some peripheral territories were also lost, but no significant

R
Radi Ibn Musta’sim
Biography
Radi was one of the most powerful magi of his generation, a product of his father and
grandfather both succeeding in enticing Aversarian Magi into the court and then marriage with
the Mamuramal (I hate this adjective but can’t think of an alternative) family. Radi’s mother
was Arthenix Aspietos, and Musta’sim’s mother was Timandaria Aeteos.
His reign began with the relatively bloodless coup against his father Musta’sim, but his first act
as Mamur was to organize a far more bloody purge of a faction of Aversarian Magi at his court,
whom he claimed had been conspiring with his brother Zayd to overthrow him. Whether the
plot actually existed is dubious, and several of the slain Magi had also been among his
supporters during the coup just weeks prior. This done, he cemented his power as an
ambitious, cold man whose capacity for cruelty only grew with age. His life spanned over a
century thanks to his reliance on magical vampirism to extend it. It was rumored that his quest
for longevity led him to seek the thirteen abyssal steps before his death, though his limited
demonstrated skill in dead magic makes this rumor somewhat dubious, but not entirely out of
character.
Radi also engaged in rampant experimentation on his own children, attempting to further
purify their bloodlines beyond the marriages he had arranged for them (at great expense) to
Aversarian women of good magical pedigree. This was, as it turns out, to his dynasty’s ruin. His
five most promising sons, Muzaffar, Yusuf, Radi, Radi, and Ithtar would all die well before
him, either due to accident, old age, or suspected sacrifice when Radi came to believe they were
plotting against him.
As the Saints War began in 1141, Radi, counseled by his Aversarian advisors, was led to believe
the Agionists were allies - indeed, practically Wardenites themselves given the Dikaynsianite
focus on law codes - who could be used against the Ritualists. He therefore heavily supported
the landings and the orders’ campaigns against the Ritualists, who had managed to take back
much of the east a few decades earlier. Many initial territories controlled by the Colonial
Authority were almost literally given away to the Imperials. For instance, the isle of Idhroussna
was “sold” for a promise of eternal friendship between the reigning Aautokrator and Radi,
though by the time the deal was signed the island had already been under Aversarian control
for nearly a decade. As the Agionists would only make a coordinated turn against the
Wardenits in 1180, a year after this death, Radi never lived to understand his grave strategic
error.
Radi was also confronted with the Kathisti dissent in 1152, which eventually blossomed into a
full-scale insurrection against the authority of the Mamuramat in the Tel Merrha revolt in
1155. The Kathisti dissent effectively clarified the alliance that would become the idealist
school, though the associations of scholars and judges effectively had been born a few decades
earlier.
Despite his ambitions, it was the humble - and disabled - Radi the Youngest who would come
to power when the elder Radi’s body finally gave out in 1179.

Raleri Zalreb
Biography
The second ruler of the Zalreb dynasty, who was able to peacefully ascend to the throne after
most other major claimants mysteriously disappeared. Though this staved off what seemed an

succeed via his (unconfirmed) policies of “convenient disappearances”, and he was the last
Boqqar to truly wield power, with his successors left to simply watch the state wither.

Biography
The reigning Mamur during the events of the Halakdun. Yusar is recorded by historians as
having been a relatively competent and good ruler. After the Halakdun however, his
personality took a radical turn towards the worse. A magi of considerable power, it is believed
that Yusar was able to shield himself and his closest family from the worst of the magics
unleashed on that day. However, as a consequence he was subjected to near-fatal levels of
exposure sickness which permanently altered his personality. He was said to have been
subjected to near constant visions, the nature of which he refused to disclose. He also
conversed with unseen ‘advisors’, at whose prompting some of the worst atrocities to come
would be carried out. This and the generalized instability of the downfall would eventually
cause a revolt led by his son Tathtali to break out, and would eventually lead to his death in
809.

Biography
Son of Nasir, Yusuf ascended to the throne at the tender age of 9. The entire Mamuramat held
its breath during his eleven year regency, but despite constant fears of a civil war or a reign
ruined by youthful exuberance, Yusuf and his loyal regent the eunuch Al-Tuthbi, defied
expectations, and he ascended to the Mamuramat at the age of 20 (the minimum age specified
in Wardenite law at which someone is legally allowed to hold the title of Mamur without the
intercession of a trustee.) He proved a highly competent ruler, succeeding at balancing both the
Mamur’s legalistic and military responsibilities. In the year 910 IS the Auzanrai Ayyari lords
formally accepted Wardenism (though most had already converted by this point) and accepted
the Mamur’s authority (the formal nature of this agreement should be emphasized. While they
paid occasional tribute of soldiers and revenue, the Ayyar were functionally independent, but
the agreement was a propaganda coup for both parties, and helped the Auzanrai secure their
authority over their rivals). He also succeeded in consolidating Udhaliyya and pushing deeper
into Kharadamat, even putting Sophocos under threat and ultimately extracting oaths of
submission from the Ritualists in charge of the site - though Wardenite armies would never
approach closer than fifty miles to the Tower.
Also of note during his reign was the campaigns of Abdar Sarhadyn - known as the Godrender.
While the Wardenite warlord was acting on his own initiative and with little actual assistance
from the Mamur, Yusuf was quick to legitimate - and in propaganda, appropriate - his
campaigns in the far east against the Ritualists.
Yusuf’s reign saw a cultural and economic renaissance for which he is still remembered.
However, these accomplishments are overshadowed by his complete failure to manage the
succession. Rather than strongly support a single son to succeed him, he attempted to divide
authority between his three eldest legitimate children Essaid, Muktafi, and Qa’im. Some
Traditionalist scholars interpret this as having been an attempt to devolve the Mamuramat
into its primordial state and thus see Yusuf as something approaching a saint. Most others
recognize it as a disastrous misstep that resulted in a devastating civil war that began less than a
decade after his death.
In 910, as one of his first acts, he revoked Nasir’s proscribed schools list, and essentially
declared the Tashbari’a School to not only not be radical (and thus illegal), but filled four High
Judgeships with the school’s members, overnight turning them into one of the most influential
legal schools in the Wardenite world
