Encoder Commissioning Guide

The document outlines the commissioning procedure for an encoder connected to a drive, detailing the necessary connections and parameters to be set in the software. Key parameters include speed measurement mode and encoder pulse settings, with specific instructions for verifying the encoder's functionality during the commissioning process. The procedure concludes with a final check to ensure that the motor speed readings match, confirming successful encoder commissioning.

In encoder/Motor side if neutral is not internally connected then loop it like in above picture.
Only 5 core cable with shield should run from encoder to drive.
Parameter 50.02 Speed MEAS mode is set according to motor rotation.
50.04 is according to encoder type pulse per revolution.

Note: 1. The following settings are applicable in software version of MSOI5140

2. PR 50.01: Speed Scaling [rpm]=1500.0 (Motor Speed Rating P1.01).
3. PR 50.02: SpeedMeasMode =3
4. PR 50.03: SpeedFeedbackSel= INTERNAL
5. PR 50.04: Encoder PulseNR=1024
6. PR 50.05: EncoderAlm/Fault= ALARM (*Optinal)
7. PR 50.06: SpeedActFiltTime [ms]=0.0
Procedure:
1. Set “P75.03: ENCODERLESS DRIVE=TRUE”, then take the motor first trial run with “Scalar Direct
mode”. (P21.01)

2. During first motor trial please Check the Parameter P165.1 for NTC-Encoder status word, exmpl-
165.01: NTAC STATUS W Par.165.1= 4617 at binary 0000 0000 0001 0010 0000 1001 b

3. Must be Checking the 160.37: MOTOR SPEED TACHO [rpm] & 160.38: MOTOR SPEED EST [rpm] for
Encoder pulse.
If the P160.37 speed Value is matched with P160.38, it is confirmed that encoder connection and its
parameterisation are correct.

4. Then Change “P75.03: ENCODERLESS DRIVE = FALSE” and Power recycle the AMC-Board.

5. And Again, Check for P160.37 & P160.38, Both speed must be matched. Encoder commissioning is
finished.
