Liu Yuchen
Liu Yuchen
Career
Liu competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics.[9]
Partnered with Li Junhui, he won a silver medal in the
men's doubles after being defeated by Lee Yang and
Wang Chi-lin of Chinese Taipei in the final in straight
games, 18–21, 12–21.[5] Following the loss, he and Li Personal information
received immense backlash from Chinese netizens for Country China
being unable to win the gold medal.[10]
Born 25 July 1995
In 2022, Liu started a new partnership with Ou Xuanyi Beijing, China
after Li Junhui's retirement.[11] In the Indonesia Open, Height 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in)
the duo beat Korea's Choi Sol-gyu and Kim Won-ho to Weight 88 kg (194 lb)
become the first men’s doubles pair from the reserves’

compete at the World Tour Finals and emerged
victorious after beating Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Men's & mixed doubles
Setiawan in the final.[13] Highest 1 (MD with Li Junhui, 6 April
ranking 2017)
In 2023, Liu and Ou helped the Chinese national team 2 (MD with Ou Xuanyi, 30
reach the final round of the Sudirman Cup. Facing May 2023)
former world no. 1 pair Takuro Hoki and Yugo 38 (XD, 27 October 2016)

the tie 2–1, Liu and Ou saved four match points being
down 16–20 in the deciding set and converted their Men's badminton
first to keep China alive in the tie. They eventually got Representing China
into the final. Liu said after the match, "We didn’t Olympic Games
think too much. We played each point. We kept doing 2020 Tokyo Men's doubles
what we did towards the end. It’s unbelievable." After World Championships
compatriot and world no. 1 Jia Yifan won the deciding 2018 Nanjing Men's doubles
rubber, she stated, "We wouldn’t be here if not for the 2019 Basel Men's doubles
men’s doubles, they did a great job."[14] Ultimately, the

Chinese national team went on to win the 2023

2023 Suzhou Mixed team
Liu competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics, but 2017 Gold Coast Mixed team
failed to make it into the knockout tournament. Some
Thomas Cup
fans and commentators have attributed Liu pair's
2018 Bangkok Men's team
absence from the knockout tournament to his group
being ridiculously stacked compared to the other 2024 Chengdu Men's team
groups.[16][17] In addition, Kim Astrup, whose pair was Asian Games
in the same group as Liu's, remarked that making it 2018 Jakarta–Palembang Men's team
into the quarter-finals from their group deserved a 2022 Hangzhou Men's team
medal on its own due to how loaded their group
2018 Jakarta–Palembang Men's doubles
was.[18]
