Gender is related to how we are perceived and expected to
think as women and men because of the way society is
organized and not because of our biological differences.
Sex is the natural/biological difference between men and
women.
These are the biological differences that are translated into
sex roles for men and for women.
'Sex' refers to the biological characteristics which define
humans as female or male.

'Gender relations are characterized by unequal
power.
'Gender norms' assign specific entitlements and
responsibilities to men and women - for example,
women might be expected to take on caring or
domestic duties and remain close to home,
while men may be expected to be the main
breadwinner, working outside the home, with
greater freedom to move around in public places.

In all countries of the world, women continue to exist in
roles and relationships that often make them subordinate
to men.
