Some people think it is necessary for students to wear uniform while


others believe students should not be made to wear a school uniform.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of wearing uniform for
students.
Advantages
- promote the sense of equality among students
o erase the gap between genders/wealth/social status
o eg: if not compulsory -> students from wealthy families -> wide
range of choices of fashionable clothes/ from financially difficult
families -> have a few sets of clothing -> create discrimination
among students
- school tradition & symbol
o unique style of uniform -> become a school’s symbol with a
school’s logo -> become a pride to put on a school’s uniform
o eg: Vietnam airline -> blue long dress with a yellow lotus logo ->
the same is true of school
- discipline and solidarity
o uniform is always considered one of the best way to strengthen
sense of discipline and solidarity
o professional environments such as the police force or the military
force have a strict code of clothing -> this can be applied to the
academic environment: school
- avoid distractions
o not a place for students to show off their fashionable clothes ->
avoid unnecessary distractions
Disadvantages
- show your personality & individuality
o fashion has a positive impact on students’ mood -> motivated and
cheerful -> some creative environments such as Google or
Facebook do not enforce strict code of wearing on their employees
- low quality -> uncomfortable
o cheap and low-quality clothing material -> cause discomfort & not
suitable for all weather conditions

Conclusion -require students to wear uniform on certain days of the week
