INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

One of the problems we are facing in our everyday life is our trash.
Every day we encounter the questions such as Where should I put my trash?
Should I segregate it? Is this trash recyclable? People often face these
problems and if not fix immediately it will result to pollution in water and soil.
If burnt in can lead to pollution of air. A lot of people have been affected by
the mass spread of pollution, it contributes a negative impact especially to
our people. According to [Link] the water pollution has led a major
damage to people living in the surrounding areas of body of water in the
Philippines, stated that out of 109 million people, 57 million of individuals
lack access to reliable, safely managed source of water and 43 million lack
access in managing household sanitation facilities safely. 43% of the
country’s rivers and 56% of the country’s major water bodies are polluted.
Most of its cause is the nonbiodegradable wastes like plastics, Styrofoam,
chipped bed cushions, unused cloth, wood from old houses, diapers, candy
wrappers, papers and many more. Aside from pollution, it can cause greater
more damage in our environment. Studies have shown that the Philippines
generates at least 61,000 million metric tons of waste daily, 24 percent of
which is plastic wastes. Only 28% of plastics are recycled and at least 800
000 metric tons are disposed of annually. Through this research we aim to
use non-biodegradable waste materials for furniture-making to lessen the
increase of non-biodegradable wastes in our environment. To prevent the
further causes of pollution and many more environmental hazards. The
purpose of this is to create and recycle non-biodegradable waste material
made furniture. To find purpose for those thrown away non-biodegradable
wastes. Non-biodegradable furniture is intended to help our environment, to
help our mother earth, and to make each place look stunning, elegant and
beautiful whilst helping our earth. Through this we can help prevent the
continuous rising of environmental challenges. Help each individual to learn
the importance of non-biodegradable waste through recycling, modifying,
and generating a household design, to make a trash look eye pleasing and
prove its quality for making a good sturdy, standard and beautiful furniture.

Significance of the Study

Community.

This study aims to lessen the wastes impact in our community. Non-
biodegradable materials often contribute to pollution, which can affect our
healthcare it can also affect our environment which can lead to harm and
health risks together with lacking proper waste disposal which made
dumping and burning are the primary options to dispose waste, but we can
do much more than that. The benefits of making a furniture out of non-
biodegradable materials can help protect habitats, biodiversity and our
environment. But not only that, but humans will also benefit from it since
having less waste around our community can improve our healthcare and
reduce health risks. Additionally, it is a sustainable process and reduces the
direct consumption of raw materials, thus conserving natural resources. As
far as employment opportunities are considered, this affords opportunities to
people in recycling and green manufacturing, thus enhancing economic
activities in the locality; also, it creates awareness related to the prospects of
using waste as a source, motivating communities toward greater
environmental action.

Environment
Long-term benefits from such efforts pave the way for environmental
preservation and lead to healthier and cleaner living conditions for humanity.
This initiative fosters sustainable practices, which can alter the way we see
waste. Through this conversion of non-biodegradable materials into usable
furniture, it not only reduces the amount in the landfills but also develops
recycling culture and resourcefulness. It reveals the potential of recycling
waste to give it a new life and inspires industries and consumers about some
roles they can play in reducing waste.

Employment
-Creating 'green' fur growth and spur growth and development for a
local economy through the creation of employment in recycling and green
manufacturing industries, increasing economic growth, and fostering
community involvement in sustainability policies. Local artists and
entrepreneurs can then have new markets for some ground-breaking
products built from recycled materials, which stimulates community pride
and responsibility. Another very important step in this direction is creating
awareness among people as to the damage caused by non-biodegradable
waste and the positives through which upcycling brings to life. The
environmental aspect that would be right in one's lifestyle and in
consumption and waste manners would be assured through the perspective
of people empowered in this regard. Community members can become
proponents for change, encouraging others to come on board in relation to
more sustainable practices that can benefit and positively influence their
daily lives. If such a study continues, we can ensure a much cleaner and
safer environment and, by consequence, living conditions because the added
positive impacts will contribute to maintaining a healthy, clean environment,
and health among the public. This is going to be achieved by popularizing
environment-friendly furniture and encouraging waste not as a burden but as
a process for innovation and improvement toward the future. This research
combines waste management and environmental degradation towards
sustainable solutions for a healthier planet for current and future
generations.
Statement of the Problem

This study aims to define the effectiveness of reducing non-biodegradable

wastes by creating some furniture.

This seeks answer to the following questions:

1. What are the possible non-biodegradable wastes furniture are to be

created?

a) Furniture

b) Materials needed

c) Functions

2. What is the environmental impact of the production and disposal of non-

biodegradable waste furniture?

3. How long will the non-biodegradable made furniture last from different
environment?

4. What are the challenges and benefits of non-biodegradable waste

furniture might implement in its consumption?

5. How can the properties of non-biodegradable waste materials be

combined to improve their suitability for furniture applications?
Abstract

This research Explores the different ways of how furniture built from
nonbiodegradable materials affects the environment. The study focuses on
the methods used in the production of non-biodegradable furniture, the
variety of materials used, and disposal methods by a life cycle assessment.
From the findings, there will be an immediate need for sustainable
substitutes composed of non-biodegradable materials, as these show
significant contributions to pollution and landfill overflow. To reduce
ecological damage and create an economy that is circular within the
furniture industry, the research encourages the development of new
materials and creative designs. Our findings reveal, furniture composed of
non-biodegradable materials contributes significantly to the landfill masses
by creating a new product that is a part of the cycle. These items accumulate
in landfills and takes a while to deteriorate, which has a significant ecological
effect like contaminating the soil and water. we also find important gaps in
the way that waste is now disposed of, where environmental harm is done by
ineffective recycling procedures. In the base of our findings, this research
highlights the urgency for a change towards a sustainable and much better
alternative. Additionally, this study also advocates the creation of innovative
materials that significantly reduced the waste production of the society.
Moreover, it offers different techniques for a eco-friendly production that
promotes sustainability for a better future. By adapting to these new life
cycle of non-biodegradable waste, this can be the answer for reducing
ecological harm in the environment. This study advocates the importance of
reducing waste by recreating a new version out of the old, wrecked one. It
combines non-biodegradable materials to create an astonishing product. It
uses plastics, woods, glass, metals, copper wires etc. To make a table, chairs,
bed frame and a variety of furniture that can be a design in your home. It
helps improve the feeling and the look of your house, inside and outside.
Scopes and Limitations

The scope of our research is to focus on creating a new sustainable

furniture, presents a great solution for our rising demand for recycling waste
products to our modern-day society. This Scope innovates a new way to
recycling of non-biodegradable trash, allowing for a sustainable and a
solution for our problems on trash in the society. This scope is mainly for
sustainability and providing a new furniture with the goal of reducing the
modern-day trash like plastic, rubber, and wood. Additionally, they efficiently
reduce the non-biodegradable wastes in the area due to the use of non-
biodegradable waste materials, Addressing our problem on waste products
and the raising demand for a new way of recycling. This research can also be
a way to relax a person’s mind, it can be a hobby to be crafty. It can also be
sold because the look of the product you made using recyclable materials
can contribute to the persons choice of design, it is customizable

Despite the stated advantages, our research has limitations that needs
to be considered. Such as its own durability to different climate and It's
robustness. The overall stress capacity of the furniture to be used
simultaneously without breaking a part of it. Especially, The sensitive part of
non-biodegradable materials for fire. This can cause the limitations for its
safety. It will also be limited to furniture such as chairs etc. In summary the
overall limitations have a significant change to its experimentation process
of our research. Our study is liable to our environment, schools, houses,
office, streets, and many more, but it does not fully dissimilate the global
environmental issues we are facing such as climate change, soil erosion,
deforestation, pollution etc. It only prevents some of it by making a furniture
out of the wastes that are causing these issues. Also, it does not solve any
health issues, it may impact the person likings, but it will not improve the
human’s body function.

Hypothesis
If the non-biodegradable furniture is sustainable and cost efficient,
then it will greatly contribute a large impact in our environment by
reducing the non-biodegradable waste on our society.
If the non-biodegradable waste made furniture can be a substitute to an
original one, then it will be as good as a brand-new and it will be greatly
patronage by people.
