The central part of the area displays volcano sedimentary sequence of Ilkal
and Mudenur Formations. Ilkal Formation comprises amphibolite, pillowed The primary bedding plane is noticed mainly in the BIF, which is marked by
metabasalt, quartz porphyry and Banded Iron Formation (BIF). Amphibolite alternate bands of magnetite/haematite and cream coloured quartz. The beds
occurs as enclaves and lensoid bodies along margins of the schist belt close trend in almost NW-SE to NNW-SSE direction with 60o-70o dips towards
to the granitic bodies in southern part. Amphibolite is medium to fine NE. Schistosity in quartz-sericite schist and metabasalt varies from E-W to
grained and comprises green hornblende or blue green actinolite, plagioclase, WNW-ESE and NNW-SSE directions with dips on either side ranging from
epidote, quartz and carbonate. Metabasalt is noticed as lenses within the 60o to vertical. Minor anticlinal folds are observed in BIF and argillite
