General
1. Is Teamcenter X true SaaS?
Yes.
2. What is SaaS?
Software-as-a Service delivery means Siemens will drive the PLM environment for our
customers. This is pay as you go PLM. Customers pay a set price per user per month (annually)
to use Teamcenter. Siemens covers all infrastructure requirements (hardware and software),
operations, maintenance, upgrades, support, etc. Siemens SaaS Operations is the team that will
provide the SaaS services. Implementation teams (including Partners) will be able to work with
customers to train them, and configure their Teamcenter X environments, and install any client
software, etc.
3. What is the value of selling SaaS vs. On-Premises solutions?
The ability to offer SaaS PLM in the cloud to customers will allow you to meet their evolving
needs of remote access to product lifecycle data and processes, while Siemens takes care of all
PLM operations, including infrastructure, maintenance, and upgrades.
Remember, SaaS is a billion-dollar industry, on track to get bigger. PLM with SaaS delivery
increases your selling opportunities for PLM - 1 more tool in your Siemens tool belt. Also, SaaS
can remove a very big barrier for some customers, and that’s managing a PLM deployment.
Another benefit to selling SaaS, is that you can start future years with a pipeline already place.
4. How is Teamcenter X different from Teamcenter?
Teamcenter X is Teamcenter and more. It uses the same code base as Teamcenter, but also
uses services from the Mendix cloud platform, including file storage, and authentication
services, and AWS cloud services such as database, security, monitoring, etc. As more cloud
services and Mendix cloud platform services become available, we will use them (if applicable)
with Teamcenter X. Teamcenter X is full functionality Teamcenter, delivered via Software as a
Service (Saas) – operated by Siemens. This is true SaaS, PLM on the cloud – where Siemens
drives the deployment with all operations, maintenance, and upgrades. Current Teamcenter
customers will benefit from the modernization of Teamcenter with each upgrade – for example:
microservices and containerization (in the future) to lower cost of ownership will be included for
on-premises customers.
5. Is Teamcenter X a rewrite of Teamcenter?
No. Teamcenter X IS NOT a rewrite of Teamcenter, this should be made clear to our customers.
As a reference to this important point, this interview between Joe Bohman and CIMdata CEO
Peter Bilello highlights our Teamcenter cloud strategy and Teamcenter X.
6. When does Teamcenter X invoicing happen for the Customer?
2
Restricted | © Siemens 2021 | Siemens Digital Industries Software | Where today meets tomorrow.
When the Teamcenter X Production environment is created, and the URL is shared to the
customer (2-4 days after license is created). Please see the Invoicing presentation on Highspot for
more details.
7. Does Teamcenter X replace Teamcenter Rapid Start?
No, although the preconfigured solutions and quick start nature is similar between the two
solutions, Teamcenter X is the cloud SaaS deployment option for PLM. Teamcenter Rapid Start
will remain the quick start, on-premises solution for PLM. Please see the Playbook for more
details.
8. What is the minimum number of users for Teamcenter X?
20 users, however, please note promotions may have a different minimum user requirement.
9. Is there an additional charge for each Teamcenter X connection where users are connecting
from different locations?
No. Teamcenter X can be accessed from any location, at any time, requiring no separate access
charges.
10. Can channel Partners sell and support this product?
Yes. Channel Partners can and are encouraged to sell Teamcenter X. In addition to commission
benefits (year after year), and promotions in place to sell Teamcenter X, Partners can provide
added services to customers such as training, client installations, and perform configurations.
See section 6 of the Playbook for more information around Partner selling and servicing of
Teamcenter X. Also, see the Partner section of this FAQ for more Partner specific information.
11. Is training included with Teamcenter X?
Yes, Getting Started training is included with every tier of Teamcenter X (Base/Pro/Ent). In
addition to this, the required services Start Package offers additional training courses based on
the tier level. Internal access to the training materials on the Learning Center is available here.
Also, on-site or online training is also available for an additional cost through the Learning
Services team or through a Partner.
12. What if my PLM prospect is looking for configurations and customizations?
Please consider all of your options in selling Siemens PLM products (Teamcenter, Teamcenter
Rapid Start, Teamcenter X). Teamcenter X is a great fit for SMBs or large enterprises looking for
quick-start PLM to realize immediate value, with the ability to grow PLM when their needs
evolve. Customizations and configurations will need to be discussed with the customer and
SaaS Operations to understand the depth and type of customizations and configurations
required, and then determine the best fit.
13. What type of questions and conversations should we have with customers around
Teamcenter X as part of the pre-sale process to set the right expectations?
Be sure to have discussions with your customers that include topics shown in the screen shot
below to set the right expectations around Teamcenter X and getting started. Also, point them
to the Teamcenter X trial to explore Teamcenter at their own pace and get a feel for the user
experience.

14. Will there be Industry adopted demo environments?
As Teamcenter X evolves, we will evolve the demo environments and the Trial as needed.
15. Who can I go to for questions that come up around the SaaS delivery of Teamcenter X as part
of the pre-sale process?
Please be sure to review the Playbook where you’ll find information on Teamcenter X pricing,
packaging, and selling. Also see the Teamcenter X Licensing and Packaging presentation for more
information around client vs. server installations.
16. Where can I find Teamcenter X specifics in the pricebook?
Licenses can be found under Cloud Services→Teamcenter SaaS here. The Start and Deployment
Packages can be found under Training&Services→SaaS Start Packages here. Note: the price
listed in the pricebook for Start Packages is listed monthly – this is a 1 time cost (multiply the
monthly charge by 12) for the customer. Also, codes ending in a “P” are the Partner Deployment
Packages.
17. Will there be industry specific templated deployments of Teamcenter X?
Yes, industry add-ons are on the roadmap and will be added in conjunction with future releases
of Teamcenter X.
18. How do I demonstrate Teamcenter X to customers?
A Demo Kit for Teamcenter X is available, where you have access to a Demo2Win presentation,
an automated demonstration, product demonstrations, and scripts. You can also work with a
live cloud Teamcenter X environment via appstream or an AWS starter kit. Also, customers can
sign up for the Teamcenter X Trial environment and explore Teamcenter X at their own pace. To
understand what the Trial looks like from the Trial user perspective, we have created videos of
the tours offered with the Trial.
19. Do I have an environment that I can use to learn more about Teamcenter X capabilities?
Yes, a Demo Kit is available for your learning purposes, please see answer above. Also, note
there is a Learning Center curriculum for Teamcenter X.
20. Which campaign includes the Teamcenter X product?
PLM of the Future - SLT_010.013_GBL_PLM of the Future_CI is the main campaign for
Teamcenter X. This campaign includes Teamcenter X assets and messaging around the
importance of quick-start PLM with preconfigured solutions to realize a fast return on
investment. Be sure to reference the Playbook.
21. Who are the competitors for Teamcenter X?
4
Restricted | © Siemens 2021 | Siemens Digital Industries Software | Where today meets tomorrow.
Our traditional PLM competitors, including PTC (just purchased Arena), Autodesk, Aras, Oracle
Agile, and Dassault are all competitors and each appear to have cloud PDM or PLM solutions for
both SMB and Large Enterprise. In addition to our traditional competitors, we’re seeing smaller
vendors like Propel and Upchain as competitors for SaaS PLM. It’s important also to note that
we are targeting SolidWorks customers with Teamcenter X – we are hearing that Dassault’s
message of PDM and PLM integrations for SolidWorks management is confusing with multiple
solutions. Dassault also recently acquired Centric Software, offering cloud PLM in the CP&R
industry.
22. Does it make sense to transition to cloud for an organization already heavily using
Teamcenter on-premises?
There are many factors customers should consider, as each have their own unique situations,
when they will look at moving to the cloud. Some examples: reduced cost of ownership,
dispersed and expanding product, user and customer bases, capital investment. Teamcenter
customers can move to the cloud at their own pace working with Siemens services to ensure all
of their business needs are met. There is a calculator spreadsheet tool available on HIghspot to
help you work with your customers to show total cost of ownership of on-premises
deployments vs. SaaS cloud.
5
Restricted | © Siemens 2021 | Siemens Digital Industries Software | Where today meets tomorrow.
27. Can customers choose more than 1 Teamcenter X tier for their implementation?
No. Customers can only choose 1 tier level for their Teamcenter X implementation
28. What is the sales policy for floor pricing for Teamcenter X?
Please see the pricing policy for Teamcenter X sales located on Highgear for more information.
29. When we discuss data storage and disk space with Teamcenter X prospects, are we talking
about cloud data storage?
Yes. This is file data on the cloud. Also, it’s important to note that the transfer of data from
client to cloud is free (ingress), and from cloud to client (egress) there is a cost. Please see the
Teamcenter X Overage presentation for details.
30. If a customer buys the Teamcenter X Pro tier for 20 users, how much disk space do they get?
The customer will get 40GB of file storage per user, which is accumulated for 20 users – 800GB
total.
31. Why is a services Start Package or Deployment package required with Teamcenter X?
Siemens requires a Services Package (Start Package or Deployment Package) purchase to better
enable customer success with Teamcenter X. Start Packages have different tiers, and are
delivered via services from the Siemens SaaS Operations team.
Our channel Partners have the option to either purchase a Start Package for their customer –
where Siemens provides all Teamcenter X services, or they can choose to purchase a Partner
Deployment Package for their prospects if they wish to service their customers. Find more details
on the Start Packages and Deployment Packages in the pricebook here. Note – the Partner
Deployment Package all have a “P” on the end of the package code. Different package offerings
are shown in the images below:

Partner Deployment Packages
Note: Deployment Packages can be sold by Partners who wish to deliver Teamcenter X services
to their customers; Partners who do NOT wish to service Teamcenter X do have the option to
sell their customers Start Packages. It’s a one or the other choice, either choose Start Package
or Deployment Package – not both.
32. What is the minimum monthly usage of Teamcenter X? e.g. can I buy just 5 months worth?
12 months
33. Is there a different cost for Consumers vs. Authors?
At this time, only Author users are supported.
34. What does the Teamcenter X sales process look like?
7
Restricted | © Siemens 2021 | Siemens Digital Industries Software | Where today meets tomorrow.
Teamcenter X can be sold via our Direct or via Partner sales teams. The order fulfillment is
largely the same as any other on-premises Teamcenter sale, however, with Teamcenter X the
customer will receive a Teamcenter X URL instead of a license file. Please see the Teamcenter X
Order Processing presentation, Order Processing quick guide video, and the Playbook for more
details.
35. When an existing NX Customer purchases Teamcenter X, do they need to convert their NX
license to SaaS?
The NX Integration license can remain as Perpetual.
Note: Currently, NX MACH bundles include NX embedded clients, however, we need NX
embedded client licenses on Teamcenter X (on the cloud). Siemens will include an equal number
of NX embedded client loaner licenses at no additional cost on the Teamcenter X sold-to ID. The
Teamcenter X team is working on a solution with the NX team to address this current
workaround. Find more details in the Pricing and Packaging presentation on Highspot.
36. In the event that a customer selects Teamcenter X, and uses the system for 1 year, and then
doesn’t renew their contract, what is our stance on what we do with the data left behind? Do
we provide a service to help them download all the data? Does that cost a fee?
Yes, Siemens can provide a service to hand over the data, and will charge for the service work,
and for any required data storage past 30 days. Please refer to the CSA document, specifically
the Term in Termination clause to read more details.
37. If RAC is purchased as an add-on, can it be purchased for just 1 month in order to complete
the customer configurations?
All Teamcenter X SaaS product must be purchased for a minimum of 1 year.
38. Is Teamcenter X compatible with all Teamcenter modules?
Yes. Teamcenter X used the same code base as Teamcenter so every Teamcenter solution
available today is compatible with Teamcenter X. The SaaS delivery option is available with the
Teamcenter X base, and the supported add-on packages. Beyond the add-on packages,
customers would work with Siemens SaaS Operations (get a quote) to include extension options
with Teamcenter X.
39. Does Teamcenter X support multiple cloud platforms?
No, at this time, Teamcenter X is only supported with AWS.
40. When will additional modules be ready as “add-on packages”?
With each new release of Teamcenter X, you will see more add-on packages. The product
management team for Teamcenter X is working with industry, sales, and other internal teams to
evaluate and prioritize all roadmap items.
41. How often is Teamcenter X updated for the customer?
Teamcenter X will be kept up to date with Teamcenter. For now, Teamcenter X is patched
monthly and upgraded once per year.
42. How do I know which Teamcenter solution to sell when talking to customers?
Be sure to read the Playbook, which contains content to help you understand differences
between our Teamcenter solutions, and how to qualify customers.
43. Does Teamcenter X use the same pricing model as Teamcenter Rapid Start?
No. Look to the pricebook for Teamcenter X specific pricing for base and add-on solutions, as
well as required Start Package pricing.
44. Are there additional licensing agreements?

45. How do I explain the difference between Teamcenter Rapid Start and Teamcenter X, other
than 1 is on-premises, and 1 is cloud SaaS?
Teamcenter X is the evolution of Teamcenter. It uses industrial components built from our
Mendix cloud platform. For example, it uses authentication, and file storage services. It also
uses a cloud database service from AWS. These services ensure that Teamcenter is future-ready
to work with tomorrow’s technology, and, it can integrate easily with other systems. Be sure to
read the Playbook for additional details on differences between Teamcenter solutions.
46. Does Teamcenter X use the same code base as Teamcenter and Teamcenter Rapid Start?
Yes.
47. Are CAD licenses part of the SaaS offering with Teamcenter X?
No, the customer should purchase required CAD tool and integration licenses. CAD is not
managed on the cloud in the “Teamcenter X Packaged” offering. CAD licenses, including NX and
Solid Edge, are hosted on a customer managed license server. Note: If desired, customers do
have an option to manage NX and Solid Edge on the cloud through a “Teamcenter X Expanded”
offering. This would require a request for quote from the Siemens SaaS Operations team.
48. Are CAD licenses hosted on the cloud with Teamcenter X?
No. CAD tools are not part of the SaaS offerings. The CAD license files need to be managed
separately. Note: the CAD Integration license location can vary depending on the CAD tool.
(please refer to the Teamcenter X integrations – license and install overview)
49. Is training included in the base subscription price?
1 year of Getting Started training is included with Teamcenter X. Additional training is included
with the required Start Package. There is also an opportunity for either Siemens or Partners to
deliver training on top of the purchase of Teamcenter X. The training courses are also available
for internal enablement – please find these course on the Learning Center here.
50. How does the Teamcenter NX integration occur for Teamcenter X? NX on premise or NX on
Cloud?
For production customers they will run NX on premises with Teamcenter X SaaS on the cloud.
Customers need to purchase NX along with the applicable modules including the NX Embedded
client.
The

Teamcenter X team is working on a solution with the NX team to address this current
workaround.
51. How much space is released for the customer?
This depends on the tier level - Teamcenter X Base 25GB per user, Pro 40GB per user, Ent 50GB
per user.
52. Is there an integration with authenticators?
Teamcenter X leverages PL PaaS services for authentication. This includes the ability to integrate
with customer authentication systems.
53. Is an integration with ERP (SAP) is possible?
Yes, an integration with ERP is possible as a part of a Teamcenter X extension. This requires and
additional quote for the associated services and support work.
54. Are services included in the CLD license costs?
There are services packages available for Teamcenter X add-on deployments, and the customer
will need to buy them separately. Any other modules, not part of Teamcenter X SaaS add-ons
can be separately quoted by the SaaS Operation team.
55. How to proceed if a customer orders a smaller Base Package (e.g. Base) and after a few
months there is the requirement so scale up to a larger user package (e.g. PRO or Enterprise)
Is this possible? How to process for order process?
Yes, this is possible. This is a special scenario; it would need to be worked out between the
Siemens SaaS Operations and sales teams on a case by case basis.
56. When do Teamcenter X upgrades become available and who does them?
The Siemens SaaS Operations team will perform all Teamcenter upgrades, including patches
once per month. Teamcenter X release upgrades will occur once per year.
57. Is a private cloud available with Teamcenter X?
No.
58. What are the Customer Service Manager (CSM) support level differences for Teamcenter X?
Tech Touch CSM: access to online support materials online
Severity 1 Solution Support 24x5 (weekdays)
Low Touch CSM: access to a CSM desk via a CSM email Distribution list
Solution Support 24x5 (weekdays)
All over issues are 16 x 5 (the hours are defined based on customers region—6 am to 10 pm in
their time zone)
High Touch CSM: access to assigned CSM
Solution Support 24x7 (weekdays and weekends)
All over issues are 16 x 5 (the hours are defined based on customers region—6 am to 10 pm in
their time zone)
59. Where are the Teamcenter X servers located?
We can support all major world areas supported by AWS. We deploy on the nearest region
available for the customer. Note: Chinese customers are generally not open to deploying on
AWS.

60. How are local AWS data center requests from customers handled?
Account orchestrators can work with their Teamcenter X prospects to understand data center
requirements, and then take requests for local data centers to the SaaS Operations team.
61. How do we handle requests to do upgrade testing? Will this be allowed in a QA/Test Env
within Teamcenter X?
Please reference the (Cloud Service Agreement) CSA agreement for more details.
Also, any upgrade will be made available to the customer in a Test Instance. The expectation is
the customer can provide feedback, and/or any concerns when the production environment is
subsequently updated.
62. How could a cloud deployment of Teamcenter accommodate the complexity of customer
requirements around interfaces to IS systems?
Integration frameworks and services are deployed on cloud that allow customers to integrate
with their on-premises systems through a secured tunnel, such as VPN.
63. Can Teamcenter X be changed with new configurations without support from Siemens?
Simple and more advanced configurations can be performed by implementation teams including
Partners, in coordination with the Siemens SaaS Operations team. Codeful customizations are
not supported with Teamcenter X packaged SaaS solutions and can be supported with extended.
Please see the Playbook for more details on current allowed Teamcenter X configurations,
and/or contact your local PFD if you have further questions. Also, please refer to Services
documentation on Highspot, where allowed configurations for Teamcenter X are specified.
64. Is Teamcenter X supported as an on-premises deployment?
Teamcenter X is a cloud SaaS offering, and not available on-premises. However, remember that
Teamcenter X is Teamcenter - the same functionality is available for customers on-premises
using conventional Teamcenter deployment methods. Teamcenter Rapid Start is still an option
for a quick-start, preconfigured on-premises option today.
65. Who do Partners contact for customer Teamcenter X issues?
Partners can go through their normal Teamcenter support channel, GTAC.
66. Does Teamcenter X provide a test environment to customers?
Yes, a test environment is provided for upgrade and patch testing. Reference (Cloud Service
Agreement) CSA agreement for more details.
67. If a Teamcenter X customer wants 1 new user ID added, and/or changes to an existing user
ID, can they do this or does it require Siemens SaaS Operations?
Teamcenter X customers will need to contact the SaaS Operations team for any admin changes.
We are working to give access to some of the more basic admin functions to our customers, but
this is not in place at this time. Remember, adding another user would require another
Teamcenter X user license.
68. Is Teamcenter X available globally?
Yes, Teamcenter X is available globally. There are no technical AWS limitations, or pricebook
limitations. Note: Chinese customers are generally not open to deploying on AWS.
69. Who would a Teamcenter X customer call when they need support?
Customers are encouraged to enter support tickets. Customers can also call our standard
support line and choose the SaaS Operations option. If the sale is through a channel Partner,
then the Partner is the first line of support.
70. When will existing Teamcenter customers be able to move to Teamcenter X?
11
Restricted | © Siemens 2021 | Siemens Digital Industries Software | Where today meets tomorrow.
If a customer is looking to move their Teamcenter customizations to the cloud, they would need
to work with Siemens sales/implementation teams to understand how to proceed and if
Teamcenter X is the right solution for them. Existing customers can evaluate Teamcenter X and
the packaged SaaS solutions and move to Teamcenter X if the solutions fit their business needs.
The Teamcenter X enablement material has more information on working with existing
customers that are interested in moving to the Cloud.
71. Does Teamcenter X support a multi-site connection to on-premises Teamcenter?
Multi-site environments can be supported as an extension, working with the Siemens SaaS
Operations team. We are investigating SaaS packaged solutions with multi-site for future
releases.
72. How do customers get started and tailor Teamcenter X to their use?
Customers purchase a services Start Package or Partner Deployment Package with Teamcenter
X. This includes services from the SaaS operations team and/or the Partner (Deployment
Packages) to prepare the customer for daily use of Teamcenter X - allowing them to realize the
value of Teamcenter. This service provides the essential configuration, learning, data loading
and mentoring for a successful onboarding experience. Partners are able to purchase
Deployment packages for their customers if they should choose to work on deployments. Both
Start Packages and Deployment Packages are listed in the pricebook. The codes that end in a “P”
are the Partner Deployment Packages.
73. Are customers able to extend Teamcenter X beyond what’s offered with add-on packages?
Yes, this is an extension option for Teamcenter X customers via a Statement of Work (SOW). The
SaaS Operations team will work with the customer to understand time, cost, and functional
requirements to see if an extension of Teamcenter X is a good fit.
74. Is there an approach to migrating Teamcenter customers to Teamcenter X?
The good news is that Teamcenter and Teamcenter X share the same code-base. This makes it
easier for customers to move to Teamcenter X or the cloud when they are ready. Each
customer’s data is different and hence we will need a personalized plan for migrating the data.
This will be addressed through a statement of work. The Siemens SaaS Operations team would
need to be involved in the migration process.
75. Is there a path from SaaS to on-premises?
This would require paid services from our Siemens SaaS Operation team.
76. Does a customer have an option of remaining on an older version of Teamcenter X – or will
they always move to the latest?
It’s important to note that all upgrades are included with the subscription to Teamcenter X. All
Teamcenter X packaged customers will receive an annual upgrade.
77. How do we deal with version management of on-premises tools, especially third-party tools
(non-Siemens) in the case of Teamcenter X version upgrades?
Version upgrades will be planned with the customer. Customers should upgrade the standard
integrations supported by Teamcenter X. This information is available in the Teamcenter
integrations matrix and release notes for the specific integration. It’s important to consult both
documents for consistency.
All other 3rd Party integrations will be offered through a SOW or as an extended offering.
If the customer is using any of the supported versions, they should expect their integration to
work after the Teamcenter X upgrade. If they are in a non-supported version of CAD, they
should plan to upgrade to a supported version.
78. Does the SaaS Operations team have local language speakers?
12
Restricted | © Siemens 2021 | Siemens Digital Industries Software | Where today meets tomorrow.
Currently, SaaS Operations provides service in the English language only.
79. How do you believe the large memory size of datasets work in the cloud with existing
internet capability?
Cloud resources are essentially infinite for compute and storage, meaning customers have the
capacity they need when they need it. There are various cloud connectivity options from
corporate networks available through cloud and telecoms providers to give customers the
bandwidth needed and with the Active Workspace web client, Teamcenter X is design for cloud
efficiency.
13

Yes, via an extended Teamcenter X offering, based on the SaaS Operations team input.
90. Are the CAD integration capabilities any different from what’s offered with Teamcenter and
Teamcenter Rapid Start?
The integration capabilities are all the same for the integrations offered with Teamcenter X.
91. Will the Teamcenter X customer have the ability to create a regular and local TC Backup?
Backups (storage, database, and application) are managed by the Siemens SaaS Operations team.
We do not offer a capability where customers can have backups locally.
92. How is the Teamcenter dispatcher officially supported in Teamcenter on the cloud?
With AWS, you can only set up Windows server operating systems, which is not supported for
the NX dispatcher, for example.
We use a mix of Linux and Windows machines. We follow the certification matrix and also work
directly with respective product development teams for deploying the Teamcenter components
correctly.
93. What type of data falls under the 50mb data limit?
The limits will be on 3 types of data - data transfer, Database size and Teamcenter Volume. You
can find more details in Teamcenter X license descriptions in the pricebook.
94. Will it be possible to have Local Data storage with the Software in the Cloud?
There is a local file server cache (FSC) option, not a local Volume.
95. If a customer prefers to keep his IP on-premises and would like to keep the Volume locally
only... is this supported? Only Volume resides on-premises and metadata is in Teamcenter X?
In this SaaS model, we do not keep the Volume on-premises, but they could use on-premises
FSC
96. What about vault replica for heavy CAD files – is it still possible to get replicas close to customer
locations?
For SaaS, we currently do not support complete vault replication on-premises. However, in the
case of performance issues on file upload / download, we can either do on-premises FSC caching,
or the customer can choose to buy a dedicated line from AWS to on-premises.
97. What are the AWS regions that will be supported with Teamcenter X?
We can support all major world areas supported by AWS. Note: Chinese customers are
generally not open to deploying on AWS.
98. Does Teamcenter X support CAM files?
Yes, we can store CAM files in Teamcenter X as datasets in non-managed mode. We can
support CAM files with the NX Integration and Teamcenter X in managed mode through a
Statement of Work (SOW).
99. Will there be a single Teamcenter instance, or a Teamcenter instance separate for each
customer, with deployments managed by managed services?
Teamcenter X uses a managed instance approach while leveraging multi-tenant services. A
single Teamcenter instance/database is not shared between different customers.
100. Regarding CAD integrations, will site-to-site VPN connections be required from server to
local CAD workstations?
Site-to-Site VPN is not a requirement for CAD workstations to connect to the cloud. The local CAD
workstations will be required to have their licenses deployed locally as they would today.
101. Who performs the server-side installs for integrations?
For all integrations the server-side installs will be performed by the SaaS Operations Team.
Customer/Services/Partner is responsible for installing the integrations in the client. Office

integration server-side support will be installed by default. Customers have to provide the office
license and install the integration at their end.
102. Can you give more information on generating Step files from the SolidWorks
integration?
Right now, translations for non Siemens CAD tools have to happen client side. For NX, the
dispatcher supports NX and CGM translations. Customers have to purchase an additional NX for
the translations to be supported on the server.
103. What are the security protocols for Teamcenter X?
Security protocols for Teamcenter X include: Encryption of data at rest; Audit logging; Well
defined roles and process for Operations Personnel; Security hardening of all components.
Teamcenter X security:
• Securely deployed, driven with best practice access controls implementation
• Infrastructure and Software auditing and hardening have been implemented at various levels
• Was penetration tested by independent third party. SOC 2 Type 1 has been initiated
• In the future, Teamcenter X will provide security capabilities that prevents SaaS Administration
from accessing Customer files. At present, Teamcenter X auditing capability ensures that file
accesses are captured in audit logs
104. Is Teamcenter X an option if ITAR is a requirement?
ITAR generally requires deployment on AWS GovCloud. The Siemens Government team can
support Teamcenter deployments on GovCloud, but we do not have a packaged Teamcenter X
SaaS offering on GovCloud at this time. A SOW for Teamcenter deployment on GovCloud would
be required for ITAR with Teamcenter X, at this time.
105. Will Teamcenter X support integrations to Active Directory (MFA & others)?
Active Directory integration is supported. MFA is an Active Directory function and will be
supported when configured. We require a SOW to support this integration with Active
Directory.
106. How are integrations and different software versions supported?
For the CAD integration currently available as an add-on in Teamcenter X, identify the supported
integration software version by referring to the latest “Teamcenter Integrations Availability
Matrix”. The “Teamcenter Integrations Availability Matrix” file can be found under “Downloads-
>Support White Papers Certification” area in Support Center. In the matrix, identify the
integration software version that is currently supported for Teamcenter X. The supported
versions of the integrations software can be installed by following the installation document
available in Support Center under Teamcenter X Documentation. Note, CSM will be able to
provide the latest Teamcenter X release number to the customer.
107. How is data migrated from an existing CAD system for customers moving CAD
management to Teamcenter X?
Whether the customer is currently using another CAD data management tool, or not using any
CAD data management tool – for both cases, they would need to work with CSM and SaaS
Operations Team to create a quote for this work.
108. What operational safety certifications do we offer in the operation of Teamcenter X?
We are in process of obtaining SOC II certification for Teamcenter X operations.
109. What is network latency for accessing data? For ex. Do we have standard data loading
time for a large Assembly (with 1000/2000...lines) with CAD data?
Latency is a variable of the User’s geography, their network strength, and other external factors.
We evaluated file upload/download performance in lab conditions. We do not have

performance data based on CAD assemblies as they may not be relatable to a Customer’s
situation.
110. Is an integration to Polarion currently supported by Teamcenter X?
This is a roadmap item. If the prospect is highly interested in a Polarion / Teamcenter X
integration, this could be offered as an extended service.
111. What if customer choose NX on App Stream?
NX on Appstream can be available to customers as an extended offering. This will require a
request for quote.
112. Can the customer choose to have both NX and SolidWorks integrations in their
Teamcenter X environment?
Yes.
113. Will the customer need Server-side visualization if they choose an MCAD integration and
wish to view the CAD model in Teamcenter X?
Users can view JT files in Teamcenter X with client-side rendering provided their devices support
Web GL. For complex models and big assemblies, having visualization rendered on the Server is
recommended.
The following is an excerpt from an Active Workspace document:
Server-side rendering may still be more suitable for larger data sizes due to its load speed and a
higher data limit. Server-side rendering is necessary for client devices that do not support Web
GL
114. Can the customer just have an integration with Teamcenter X and host the data in their
local database, to reduce the cost of data?
No. Teamcenter X is a SaaS offering where Siemens owns and manages the environment,
including database.
115. Does the Cloud-based architecture improve Teamcenter performance?
Teamcenter X uses managed cloud services that provide reliability, durability, availability and
performance at scale. For example, Teamcenter X uses the Amazon Aurora database engine
which uses high performance storage. It is also quick and simple to scale up and scale out needs
as required for compute and storage, as well as supporting infrastructure, meaning users see the
consistent performance expected. On cloud, use of encryption does not equate to a
performance overhead to users like it would on-premises.
116. What does Containerized deployments mean and what technology does it use today?
Container deployments are a method of packaging, releasing and running software applications
at scale as opposed to the traditional software installation on individual servers.
117. Must the Partner, or at least one person from the Partner organization be AWS Cloud
Practitioner Certified in order to work with Teamcenter X customers? If so, where can I go to
learn more about Cloud Practitioner Certification requirements?
This is recommended, but not required. Go here for more information on certification:

122. Is CAD included in the Trial “package” of Teamcenter X?
Yes, NX and Solid Edge integration tours are included with the trial.
123. Is the Teamcenter NX integration in the Trial already configured and working? Or does it
need to be installed?
The NX integration is installed, configured, and working in the Teamcenter X Trial. It is provided
to the end users through a streaming technology (Citrix). The same goes for the Solid Edge
integration.
124. Does the Trial include a SolidWorks integration?
No, this is a 3rd party CAD application and we cannot use it for our Trial.
125. How long does the Trial last?
30 days
126. Can Trial users invite colleagues to join their Trial?
Yes. Trial users have the option of inviting up to 4 other users to their Trial environment. They
can do this from the Trial launch page. Within the trial, there is a guided tour showing users how
to do this.
127. I had a customer volunteer some feedback both in the Trial experience and in the
offering. Do we have an avenue for this / where should these be funneled to?
Please share the feedback to Ravi Nandurdikar (Product Management).
Partner Selling
128. Is there a minimum number of Teamcenter X users specific to Partner sales?
Yes. 20 users is the minimum number of users for Teamcenter X. Please note, there can be
exceptions to the limits as part of on-going Partner promotions. Promotion details are available
on Highspot in their respective “Zone Content”.
129. Can a Partner add a user?
Yes. Users can be added through a Support Center request.
130. How does Teamcenter X benefit Siemens Partners?
Teamcenter X gives Partners 1 more option in selling PLM. It is another tool in your toolkit to
ensure you get the order that you may not otherwise close. Remember, as we have been
coaching you for 3 years now, the money will be in Post Sales activities. Create service offerings,

develop your business consulting competencies, custom learning offerings, solution adoption
management offerings, etc.
131. Is there a Partner specific Start Package?
Yes. Partners specific service packages, or Deployment Packages, designed for Partners who wish
to service Teamcenter X for their customers, can be sold to customers. Please see the pricebook,
and section 6 of the Playbook for more details. Note: for each sale, the Partner will choose either
a Start Package or a Deployment Package – not both.
132. Is there an internal presentation to help Partners understand benefits of selling and
servicing Teamcenter X?
Yes, please see this internal presentation on Highspot.
133. What is the difference between a Start Package and a Deployment package?
Start Packages or Deployment Packages (1 or the other) are required with all sales of Teamcenter
X. The Start Package can be sold by Direct Sales or Partner sales, and will help to ensure the
customer success, with customer training and processes in place to provide the customer with
PLM that support instant-on value. The Deployment Package may only be sold to customers by
Partners who are willing to provide Teamcenter X services to their customers.

137. Who do we contact with sales related technical questions?
For pre-sale questions around the Teamcenter X deployment, please contact your local Siemens
sales PFD and/or cloud engagement manager.
138. What if Partners have a question on Teamcenter X extension costs specific to customer
needs?
Please contact your Siemens channel manager to get you in touch with the right sales PFD
and/or cloud engagement manager. Also, please refer to Services documentation on Highspot,
where allowed configurations for Teamcenter X are specified.
139. Should customers buy Teamcenter X licenses each for development, training &
production environments?
For Siemens Direct customers: Siemens provides a production environment and a UAT
environment for deployment and upgrades. There is no development environment provided.
For Indirect Customers where the Services are being delivered by a Partner: Siemens provides a
production environment and a UAT environment for deployment and upgrades. Customers only
purchase 1 license. The Partner must replicate the SaaS Ops Dev environment on their local
systems for performing customer configurations and a pre-UAT with the customer before
packaging up the config files and checking them into A-PE. Partner is responsible for their
Development environment license.
Note: For UAT, we advise the Partner to perform a UAT from their local environment with their
customers and ensure it is 100% before checking in the config files to A-PE.
The Siemens SaaS Ops team will then pick up the config files from A-PE and a Teamcenter X SaaS
UAT will be created. Once this UAT is created, we recommend that the Partner and at least one
SME validate the configs to ensure all of the Partner configs were carried over correctly into the
SaaS UAT environment. The Partner CSM can run the session for the customer as Siemens does if
that is best practice.
Note: the customer can use the same license in UAT and Production, however they can only use
it in one at a time. If the customer has 20 licenses and 5 are being used for UAT testing then only
15 are available for production.
140. Is there a way we can offer an option to our customers to stay with their Cloud platform
(Azure/AWS) and we implement Teamcenter in their cloud without having to go with
Teamcenter X?
No. Teamcenter X is always operated by Siemens. See this presentation on Highspot that explains
Teamcenter IaaS options. Customers can run Teamcenter on cloud themselves, or via a partner.
141. Can we use PLMEasy (German add-on toolbox) with Teamcenter X?
No. PLMEasy is a field solution in Germany. But Teamcenter X should be the on-going solution if a
PLMEasy customer wants SaaS.
142. Can a current customer do a lift and shift to Teamcenter X?
No. Lift and shift would require traditional managed services, not Teamcenter X.
143. How do I download the latest Teamcenter X for Dev env?
Partners receive the Dev environment installation instructions from Siemens SaaS Ops based on a
closed Partner deal.
144. Who pays for the Development environments?
19
Restricted | © Siemens 2021 | Siemens Digital Industries Software | Where today meets tomorrow.
Partners pay for and spin up their own development environments. Just as Partners would have
an environment for on-premises customers, they would also need one for SaaS.
145. Is the Teamcenter X install included in the license cost?
The server-side installation is included with the services package. Client-side installations will
need to be performed by the customer or Partner.
146. What visibility do we have to how much and how the customers are engaging with the
software in order for us to help support them?
We are tracking CPU usage, disk space usage, and we monitor Teamcenter logs. We are also
going to be turning on Active Workspace telemetry which gives us more information on how
customers are using the system.
147. Are services packages different based on the Promo package?
No. Services packages remain the same.
148. Who is the system admin for new users / flushing workflows?
Siemens is currently the only party with access rights to Teamcenter X administration activities.
For any administrative needs for Partner’s customer, the Partner would follow the current
support process: submit a support case to Support Center – where all Teamcenter X requests will
be routed to SaaS Operations.
149. What is the turn around on these types of admin events from Siemens?
Partners should direct their Teamcenter X customers to connect with them first for all questions
and issues that are not urgent. If the Partner is unable to address the issue with their customer,
they will log an issue with Support Center as they do today.
Teamcenter X specified cases logged in Support Center are automatically routed to the 24hr SaaS
Ops team. Support for Teamcenter X is typically provided within hours…initial response will be
provided the same day. The case will be responded to based on the level of urgency as all cases
are processed.
For cases such as adding and deleting users, Siemens advises Partners to forward plan these
types of activities and allow 3-5 days in the planning from the time the request is submitted to
Siemens Support to the time they are available in the customer production environment. These
types of changes are expected to be complete within a few days but to ensure customer
expectations are met, this is the recommendation.
150. If Partners receive a 10% margin, how will this be profitable for the Partner - doing all
the sales, presales, and customer support even if out if the box ?
Keep in mind the shorter sales cycle potential with Teamcenter X. We are currently seeing a 30-
day sales cycle with wins. Also keep in mind, this is a SaaS sale, where you can continue to
nurture your customers year after year with additional modules and services with an even
shorter sales cycle, LAER model, starting each year with a pipeline.
More and more SMB customers are demanding SaaS solutions. It is predicted that if you are not
deep in the SaaS business within 3 years, you may be on your way out of business. Therefore, we
encourage you to start now while the incentives are in place.
It is a proven business model that Subscription revenue brings you much more money once you
get beyond the initial cost of transitioning your business model. As shared in the ELEVATE
program, Siemens recommends you create a two year plan to transition your business by adding
on-prem subscription and SaaS orders to your business in balance with on-prem the first year.
Please have a look here at this spreadsheet which you can use as a template by replacing the
products with Teamcenter X and promotion deals as well as your discount rate.

You can also use the attached example, again, by inserting your own discount rates into the
model. If you are not already familiar with the Rule of 78, please look at this overview of it and
how you can leverage it to understand monthly recurring revenue quota needs for your business.
