The world’s largest iceberg is headed for South Georgia—and its wildlife
Satellite images from (1)___ December 14 show (2)___ Antarctic iceberg A-68A
closing in on the island of South Georgia, which is a marine sanctuary in (3)___ South
Atlantic Ocean and home to endangered species like elephant seals, king penguins,
and blue whales. Scientists worry the iceberg could be a “taste of things to come” as
(4)___ Antarctica begins to warm. ‘It seems the highest probability is it would drift
south of (5)___ island.’ says Readinger, the Antarctic analyst at (6)___ U.S. National
Ice Center. Recent images, he says, show the iceberg is beginning to break apart.
For now, A-68A poses a large threat to the region’s wildlife and marine
biodiversity. Large icebergs with deep keels ‘scour the seabeds,’ explains Tarling.
What is really important about South Georgia is that it is incredibly diverse on the
seabeds, where scientists have found (7)___ abundant communities of brittle stars,
urchins, worms, and sponges. They are also home to (8)___ abundance of fish and
Antarctic krill, (9)___ essential part of a food chain that feeds seals, penguins, and a

(3)such as Marvel’s Avengers movies, bigger really is better. He freely admits that the
idea for the research started (4)as a ‘joke’ that he could turn his summer-holiday
binge-watch of all the Marvel superhero movies into a published scientific paper.
Marvel’s “Cinematic Universe”, featuring now-household-name superheroes such
as Iron Man and Thor, is officially the (5)highest-earning (6)franchise in movie
history, outperforming both the Star Wars and Harry Potter movie series combined.
“There is a clear correlation between cast sizes and profitability. A bigger cast is
better. We also looked at IMDb ratings, and again we saw this correlation,” Professor
Roughan said. He stresses that correlation does not necessarily (7)equal causation in
this case, (8)or, namely, the performance of the MCU movies series was also affected
by factors beyond their cast sizes. (9)However, he hopes that the research can provide
insight into (10)some of the scientific factors that are driving modern popular culture.

buried at the construction site of Galaxy Macau in Cotai. According to the statement,
the case was reported to the police after the cannon was accidentally dug out at 9am
