2. IMPORTANCE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY
In the contemporary global market, efficient operations management is pivotal for the success and
sustainability of manufacturing enterprises across diverse industries. This holds particularly true for
companies involved in the production of critical medical supplies such as medicine.

The production of medicine involves a complex interplay of various operational functions including
production, inventory control, procurement, and distribution. Each of these functions is intricately
linked, forming the backbone of operations. Understanding and optimizing these operational
processes is essential not only for ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products but also for
maintaining competitiveness in the marketplace.

This study aims to delve into the operational dynamics of organization, focusing on the critical areas
of production, inventory control, procurement, distribution, and their interrelationships. By
examining these aspects in detail, we seek to gain insights into the company's operational strategies,
challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Furthermore, by analysing the interdependencies
among these functions, we aim to uncover potential synergies and areas for optimization that can
enhance overall operational efficiency and performance.

For better analysis of production and inventory control, procurement, distribution and their

3. OBJECTIVE OF STUDY
The objective of a study on production and inventory control, procurement, and distribution, and
their interrelationships is to analyze and optimize the flow of materials within a supply chain by
examining how production planning, inventory management, purchasing activities, and distribution
processes interact with each other, aiming to minimize costs, improve efficiency, and ensure timely
delivery of products to meet customer demand; essentially seeking to identify areas for
improvement across these interconnected functions to streamline operations and maximize overall
supply chain performance.

 Production work flow: Production work flow is terms where raw materials with including
intermediate and ingredient are to be converted finish goods by applying production tools
and method.
 Inventory Management Concept: Inventory Management ensures that organization
maintain sufficient stock level to meet customers’ demands.
 Inventory Management and Financial Performance: cost control remains a vital tool in
ensuring sustainability in the market. Inventory management is seen as an important
mechanism that ensures control in an organization financial statement, in this fast growing
market.
 Inventory Management and Customer Satisfaction: Customer satisfaction is the customers’
perception about the organization activities that meet or surpass their expectation on
products and services in a given period.
 Procurement Practices: Procurement functions/practices consist of two categories such as
hard and soft. Procurement functions are only performing to maintain their inventory for
their production and as well as financial benefit with competitive market.
 Procurement Practices and Financial Performance: To be the best among competitors and
better prepare for long term progress, organizations should incorporate the best
procurement practices such as supplier development, value engineering, cost management,
strategic sourcing and supplier integration to its operations.
 Procurement Practices and Customer Satisfaction: In the present days, the development of
information system and technology has changed the practices of procurement strategy. A
traditional procurement tends to be inefficient and ineffective strategy in term of high costs
of procurement activities and low responsiveness on customer. Thus, electronic
procurement currently becomes a trend for most organizations.
 Distribution and there interrelationship: Distribution in organizations lead to required
RM/PM/MM provide to respective internal department referenced for production run.
Secondly, distribution and there interrelationship also occurs in customer delivery /
satisfaction. They followed generally first come, first serve distribution method.

5. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research means “know about new things”. Sometimes, it may refer to scientific and systematic
search pertinent information on specific topic. In fact research is an art of scientific investigation.

The primary purpose for applied research (as opposed to basic research) is discovering,
interpreting, and the development of methods and systems for the advancement of human
knowledge on a wide variety of scientific matters of our world and the universe. Research can use
the scientific method, but need not do so. Research can also be said as a process that is followed by
a person to answer either his/her own queries or somebody else queries about a particular object,
person, subject etc.

Research methodology used in this research is through DATA COLLECTION, ANALYSIS and
through various researches of these two companies. Journal, magazines and various books are also
used for research. Particularly for these two company I am using online & digital sources for
research.
