Note: Write your answer in English only Ins. Zakariya Rajab

================================================================
Q1: A PV system is to be designed to supply loads as shown in table below. The average
radiation is 5.3 kWh/m2/day. And the system operating voltage 24 V
 Calculate the required PV size and number.
 Calculate the battery size for 2 days of autonomy (DOD=50%).
 Choose the suitable charge controller, and
 Choose the suitable inverter for this system.
Device Number Rating Operating time
Lighting 10 10W 12
Other Devices - 500W 12

B. From the data sheet attached, calculate the power generated from the module at 55 C 0?
Note: Use the PV data sheet attached.
Q2: A. What is the photovoltaic effect?

B. Draw the power-voltage, and current- voltage characteristics of a pv cell. Also, denote the
effect of radiation, temperature and shadow on the two characteristics?

Q3: Design a PV system using 60 W, 12 V panels and 145 Ah, 6 V batteries. The PV system
is required to offer 3 days of storage, the battery efficiency is 75%, and the depth of discharge
is 70%. The location where the system is located has 6 h of daylight during wintertime and
the application is 24 V with a load of 1500 Wh.

B: A PV system is required to generate 250 W. Using the solar cell with V max=0.47 V
Imax=327 A/m2, design the PV panel if each cell is 9 cm2 in area. The voltage is 24 V.
