Subject: Nuisance Caused by Loudspeakers During Examination Days
Sir/Madam
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the
attention of the concerned authorities towards the nuisance caused by
loudspeakers in the city during the day. As if the noise coming from the
vehicles and their bellowing horns wasn't enough to destroy one's peace of
mind, music blaring on loudspeakers, politicians vociferously giving speeches,
religious sermons continuously playing in full volume for everyone to hear, etc.
have added to everyone's inconvenience. It is the time of examination and the
students are working extremely hard. While some students prefer studying
during the day time, others choose the night to prepare for their exams.
However, the nuisance caused by loudspeakers is not limited to the day time.
Those holding all night vigil prayers continue to create noise pollution the
whole night. As a result, the students are neither able to concentrate on their
studies in the day nor at night. Students need proper rest and to relax their
stressed minds post and during the examination days, so that feeling refreshed
they are able to study better. Given the day and night cacophony carried by the
loudspeakers, students feel helpless and desperate. This needs to stop.
Therefore, I request the concerned authorities to look into the matter at the
earliest and take necessary actions to prevent the nuisance from becoming a
menace. Government should restrict the time of the usage of loudspeakers or
ban them alltogether. Using loudspeakers should not be allowed especially
after 10:00 P.M. so that the general public can sleep and students can study in
peace. Hoping to see favourable changes for the welfare of the students.
Thank you
Yours sincerely

Subject: Reckless Driving and Its Impact
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the
attention of the general public and the concerned authorities towards the rash
and reckless driving by the people in our city and its impact. The fast moving
trucks, buses, scooters, bikes, etc. have become a menace to the people of this
area, especially the bike riders, who, it seems, neither care for their own lives
nor others. The news about the road accidents caused due to rash driving is
common these days. There have been many cases of road rage and hit and run
incidents, which pose danger to the pedestrians especially the poor, homeless
people who sleep on the pavements. As someone who feels victimised by the
reckless driving, I feel that there should be better policing. Besides
implementing stricter traffic rules, honest and vigilant officers should be
appointed so as to keep a check on chaos and raging drivers on the road.
Corrupt officers indulging in giving and receiving bribes should be suspended
immediately. Enforcing speed limits within the city is necessary and so is
stricter norms for issue of license. Therefore, whoever violates the rules, must
be fined heavily. The problem can be easily dealt with by spreading awareness
about the issue as much as possible and also by taking timely action. Hence, I
wish the authorities take note of the situation and act upon it immediately.
Looking forward to see positive changes.
Thank you
Yours faithfully

Subject: Pets - Our True Friends
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to express my views about
pets- our true friends. In this fast paced world, the family set-up has become
nuclear primarily. Both the parents are working. Adults are staying in far-away
cities, all alone-away from their family. The life in cities runs so fast, that there
is no time for socialising, making friends and having close relationships. But
after a point everybody feels the pangs of being lonely and they crave for a
companion. Pets are a great source of joy, bringing unconditional love into
one's life, offering innocent companionship. In cities, pets are an integral part
of families. They offer love and help in getting rid of loneliness and boredom.
They are loyal and show care in small but impactful ways. Having pets is a
huge responsibility too. It's like having a family member and one is supposed
to take care of them in their sickness and old age. But people these days have
dogs and cats of foreign breeds to show their high social status and later
neglect them. Through this letter, I want to urge the people in general who
have pets to take very good care of them and treat them as their own family.
These innocent animals know only the language of love.
Thank you
Yours sincerely

Subject: Request to Mark Zebra Crossing, Put Traffic Lights in Front of School
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the
attention of the concerned authorities towards the risk of life faced every day
by the students of New Age Public School while crossing the busy road in front
of our school. The wide road is part of the main road. Therefore, vehicles of all
sizes pass by our school all the time. The number of students crossing the busy
road while going back home largely include small children as well. The speed
limit indicates that the smaller vehicles, such as two wheelers, three wheelers
and cars must maintain a speed of 30-40 kmph and bigger vehicles, such as
buses, trucks, etc. must run at 40-60 kmph.
However, reckless drivers hardly ever adhere to this. Now, over speeding
vehicles are spotted on this road more often than not.
The unnecessary road mishaps can be avoided if the concerned authorities
take necessary precautions at the earliest. I wish to utilise this space to
request them to mark a zebra crossing and to put traffic lights on the road in
front of our school. Doing so will not only help keep a check on overspeeding
vehicles, the students will also learn the importance of a zebra crossing and
benefits of using it. Hoping to see favourable changes for the welfare of the
students.

Subject: Request for Road Repairment in Aram Nagar, Delhi
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of
the concerned authorities towards an issue that has been bothering the
residents of Aram Nagar with the onset of the monsoon season. I am writing to
you regarding the road running through the residential area, which leads to
the Aram Nagar Main Market. The road is so badly constructed that it cannot
even last an entire monsoon season. Heavy downpour washes away the
substandard quality materials used to construct the road, leaving pits and
potholes behind. Lack of proper drainage system adds to the difficulty as it
takes days for the water to recede. The problem does not end even after the
rain water retreats since the water gets accumulated in the potholes. These
then become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, flies and various disease
causing bacteria. The stagnant water starts to smell as it rots eventually.
Driving on a broken road with pits and potholes is a huge inconvenience and
of course life threatening for vehicle owners as well as pedestrians. The RWA
of Aram Nagar informed the concerned authorities several times, but the
efforts were of little to no avail. Therefore, I would like to utilise this space to
make the concerned authorities aware of the persisting problem and request
them to look into the matter immediately and get the road repaired at the
earliest that too using good quality material so that the road does not get
damaged instantaneously. Hoping to see swift action being taken in this
matter.
Thank you

Subject: The Futility of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the
attention of the general public towards illiteracy amongst girls. It is with great
regret I say that this problem has become a major issue of concern for the
nation. Everyone has the right to education, everyone is entitled to go to
school and learn and pursue their dreams. Recently, I came across many
articles on the topic, 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'. Schemes like 'Sarva Shiksha
Abhiyan', CBSE Scholarship to single girl child and the government's policy of
giving free education to girls have come as a boon to our society. In spite of
such nobel efforts, in many parts of our country girls are still discouraged
from going to school. Illiteracy is found mostly among the old and the deprived
section of the society. One of the reasons why girls are deprived of education is
that they would leave their parents' house post marriage. Poor parents do not
consider it to be an economical investment. The boys, on the other hand,
become the sole bread earners of the house. Therefore, their education is
given maximum importance. Often girls themselves choose not to study,
usually due to financial crisis at home, domestic responsibilities and even lack
of aspirations. Emotionally as well as intellectually, a woman is as good as a
man if not better. The discriminatory treatment given to females right from
their birth must end. The female population of the country plays an important
role in its development and economic growth. Educated girls can share the
burden of earning a livelihood. Education will also make girls aware of family
planning, health and sanitation. Literacy rate of hundred percent or around
has been achieved by only a couple of states in India. The government as well
as citizens of India must strive together to curb the evils of illiteracy. Citizens
must adopt and follow 'Each one teach one' and spread as much awareness as
possible about the importance of education, especially for girls. I would like to
conclude by saying that India is standing at the threshold of joining the
developed nations, but that is not possible till we achieve complete literacy in
the country. And for that to happen, every individual of the nation has to take a
step forward towards education.
Thank you
Yours sincerely

Subject: Need for Secondary School in Ram Nagar Colony
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the
attention of the concerned authorities towards the need for a secondary
school in our colony. My children study in XYZ Primary School, Ram Nagar. I
regret to inform you that although students upto class V go to the above
mentioned school, however, after class V students don't have a secondary
school within close proximity of the colony where they can pursue their
studies further. After class V, girls and boys of the primary school have to walk
3-4 km. to reach a secondary school. It is a complete waste of their time and
energy. Travelling such distance both ways leaves them exhausted and with
limited time for homework and studies. It is a matter of major concern
especially because it involves the children's future. Therefore, I would like to
utilise this space to urge the concerned authorities to open a secondary school
in our colony at the earliest. Having a secondary school within radius would
ease the extra burden weighing down on the students' shoulders. Hoping to
see favourable and immediate action being taken for the welfare of the
children.
Thank you

Subject: Menace of Rising Prices
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of
the concerned authorities as well as the government regarding the constant
rise in the prices of essential commodities and its effect on poor and middle
class people.
The rise in prices of edible things like pulses, onions, oils, etc. has become a
serious issue. Prices of these things are becoming costlier day by day. This
steep rise in price has hit the common man severely. They are suffering under
the weight of rising prices. Big businessmen and seller hoard the basic
necessity items in their godowns to create an artificial shortage of such
commodities, which ultimately lead to an increase in their prices.
The government should set up more fair price depots and ensure fair dealings.
Food should not be wasted at parties and marriages. Black marketers must be
dealt with sternly. Every small step taken towards the fair dealing of
commodities' fair prices can make the life of a layman easy and tension-free.
Food is our most important basic necessity and this problem should be dealt
with promptly and actions should be taken to make the situation better.
Thank you

Subject: Miserable Condition of Roads
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of
the concerned authorities towards the miserable condition of garbage littering
on roads due to the MCD employees' strike and its adverse effects on the
health of general public. The condition of garbage littering on roads has
worsened since two weeks, after the strike of MCD employees. The sweepers
are absent and the roads stink with heaps of garbage. The litter smells bad and
it is difficult to cross the lane too. There are flies everywhere and all of it can
ultimately lead to serious health hazards. The children and elders are more
prone to such diseases and therefore are restricted to their houses. The
general public is suffering greatly. And with the onset of rainy season, the
resituation is about to get worse, due to garbage choking the drains and roads.
The authorities should resolve their issues as soon as possible and resume the
garbage cleaning facilities. I hope that through this letter the problem gets
highlighted and the authorities take some prompt and useful action, so that
the condition of roads becomes better soon.

Subject: Delay in Repair Work of Roads
Sir/Madam,
I wish to seek the courtesy of your newspaper to publish this letter on the
above mentioned subject. This will help in attracting the attention of
concerned authorities towards this grave issue. Almost all the roads of the city
are in extremely bad condition and it is causing a lot of accidents too, on daily
basis. Not only this, it also causes damage to running vehicles too. Poor
drainage system has also contributed to this problem. Although the authorities
have promised to look into the matter, and relay and repair the roads, there
has been no such work since the time these fake promises were made. It is a
fundamental right of the citizens to have better roads. This problem has
reached its extreme end. This is high time the concerned authorities look into
the matter and take some prompt and necessary action to overcome this issue.
General public is ready to offer their help by re routing their routes away from
the roads where the construction work gets started, to ensure the speedy
outcome.

Subject: Menace of Frequent Thefts
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of
the concerned authorities towards the menace of the thefts in our locality in
recent weeks. For the past few weeks, there have been many cases of thefts in
our area along with some chain and purse snatching cases. A gang seemed to
exist, planning all these thefts meticulously and our local law and order seems
to not get hold of the issue. The most shocking thing about these cases is that
they happen in broad daylight. A lot of people have suffered great loss and are
awaiting justice. The local law and order authorities were approached but
there seems to be no action taken as these cases are still rapidly happening.
Through your esteemed newspaper, I want to bring this matter in notice of
higher authorities. It is high time that they should do something concrete to
eradicate this crime and get a hold of the criminals. I would also like to appeal
to the general public to stand up against this menace unitedly and fight against
it.

Subject: Increase in Road Accidents
Sir/Madam,
I am writing to draw your attention towards the increase in road accidents in
our city. These accidents are happening due to a sudden increase in the
number of private vehicles alongwith a lack of civic sense in the drivers. In this
heavy traffic, it is common for vehicles to overtake, take wrong turns and move
in wrong lanes which has consequently led to road accidents. Some of the
other reasons causing accidents are, poor lighting, absence of safety
procedures and lack of traffic education. The authorities should chalk out a
comprehensive plan to improve the traffic situation in order to lessen the
number of accidents occuring. Also the general public should use public
transport more often and have patience while driving. Stricter traffic laws
must be implemented to make roads safer. These and many more steps need
to be taken on urgent basis to check this menace of increasing road accidents. I
hope my views will be considered for public benefit.

Subject: Increasing Obesity Among Young Children
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to express my deep
concern over the problem of health hazards caused by junk food and wrong
eating habits, among which obesity tops the list as a very grave issue. The
craze of junk food has struck the entire world. There is very little nutritional
value in them. Basically these foods are often high in calories and offer no
nutritional advantage. Often parents too tend to overlook the issue and
unknowingly add into the bargain through their lack of attention. Being
overweight is a risk factor for a variety of chronic health problems including
diabetes, heart ailments, etc. The only profit gainers from fast food are the fast
food manufacturing companies. Therefore, it is an appeal to the concerned
authorities to take preventive measures in this regard. I also appeal the
parents and schools to keep a check on the eating patterns and habits of young
children and inculcate healthy food habits in them. I hope, I was able to put
across my ideas and concerns regarding the above mentioned matter of
concern.

Subject: Increasing Crimes Against North East People
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the
attention of the general public, concerned authorities as well as the
government towards the rapidly increasing cases of crime against people
coming from north east region of India to the capital in order to pursue
education or better job opportunities. These people face a lot of problems
including racism and violence. This is a matter of grave concern. India is a
nation of unity in diversity, however we fail to respect their individuality and
treat them as outsiders or secondary. Racial comments and rude behaviour
without any reason, just for fun are bound to hurt feelings and may also result
in revert action from their side which can convert trivial issues into grave
matters. Recently, a young student was found dead at his residence under
mysterious circumstances resulting from racial comments. Through your
newspaper, I would like to appeal to the government to make strict laws to
resolve such issues and punish the perpetrators. The police authorities should
immediately file the victim's complaints and take action to make them feel safe
and welcomed in the capital as well as other cities. Such behaviour not only
hurts individuals but also dents the image of our country. I hope I have been
able to highlight the issue and its seriousness, and there will be some prompt
action from the government.

Subject: Hazards of Noise Pollution
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the
attention of the concerned authorities towards the increasing problems of
noise pollution. Not only noise pollution causes health problems but also is
very irritating and leads to quarrels sometime. Recently, in a colony near my
locality a scuffle broke out between two parties due to use of loudspeakers.
The matter turned out to be serious, causing disharmony among the residents.
Increasing noise pollution is a huge threat to our health. It causes loss of sleep,
rest and peace. Students preparing for exams, studying, elderly people and
sick people suffer a lot from it. Noise pollution is also known to cause adverse
effect on the sense of hearing. It is time that the concerned authorities take
strict action against it by imposing noise control laws. Unauthorised use of
loudspeakers should be banned at all public places. There should also be strict
time limit to follow for the use of loudspeakers at functions and marriages.
Public in general should be made aware so that they can act responsibly and
fight against the danger of noise pollution. It is earnestly hoped that the
concerned authorities will take prompt and necessary actions regarding this
matter to relieve themselves and others from its adverse effects.

Subject: Encroachment on Pavements
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of
the concerned authorities towards the pitiable conditions of pavements in my
city. Pavements are meant for pedestrians to walk. However, these pavements
have been encroached upon everywhere in the city and because of this, the
general public is forced to walk on the crowded road. Unauthorised hawkers
and stalls add to the nuisance. The pavements are already narrow and due to
this people are forced to walk on crowded roads. Vehicles being ridden on
them at high speed also jeopardise pedestrians' safety and they become prone
to accidents. Government spends crores on such pavements for the benefit and
welfare of pedestrians but all this is going waste as they cannot use the
pavements. Also, such encroachments make the city appear chaotic and
hamper its beauty. Therefore, I wish to utilise this space to highlight the
neccesity of having better facilities for pedestrians and the need to improve
the conditions of the footpaths in my city. Looking forward to see immediate
actions being taken regarding this matter.

Subject: Mosquito Menace and Dengue in City
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of
the concerned authorities towards the mosquito menace and rapidly
spreading dengue in our city. This has been a regular thing since past two-
three years during monsoons. Now, the city is distressed by the mosquito
menace. Poor condition of roads, open manholes and drains become breeding
grounds of mosquitoes after heavy downpours every year. The unattended
garbage and stagnant water result in dangerous mosquitoes and as a result, a
spurt of dengue fever becomes a common sight in the city. This year too has
been no different and more than a thousand victims have been hospitalised in
different parts of the city. There is an urgent need to create awareness of the
problem of dengue. The concerned authorities should maintain cleanliness in
the city and fill up all the breeding ground of mosquitoes. Stronger chemicals
should be used in order to kill the existing mosquitoes. Even the general public
should keep their surroundings clean and not leave water accumulated
anywhere, wear full sleeves clothes and stay alert to prevent this dangerous
disease from spreading. I hope that the authorities will pay heed and take
some remedial actions immediately.

Dear Mummy,
I am fine here, and hope that you receive this letter in good spirits. How is
everybody at home? I am doing well and getting adjusted in my new boarding.
I have made a few good friends here. Two of them are my roommates. I want
to tell you about an incident that happend yesterday when my friend and I
went for a walk after dinner. The breeze was blowing gently, everything was
calm, covered with the bright light of full moon. We were walking on the path
around the park, made for walking, suddenly I heard a sound, I stopped and
asked my friend if he heard something too. He replied in negative. We started
walking again. This time the sound was more audible and we both stopped at
once. We looked at each other, little scared, it was a hissing sound. As we stood
there motionless, looking all around us, a cobra came out of the bushes and
raised its hood towards us. We went pale with fear and couldn't move a single
limb of our body and couldn't utter a singleword. I felt so scared, mummy. But,
fortunately, the snake slithered away. My friend released a sigh of relief and
then we realised what just happened. Immediately we ran inside our hostel
and told our warden about it. Soon the guards started searching for the snake
but they couldn't find it. Perhaps it retreated to where it came from. Rest
everything is fine.

Sub: Need for Promoting Healthy Eating Routines
Dear Sir/Madam
This is with reference to the posters-bearing the message of 'crash diet' that
are being posted around our school premises. Such posters impact the
youngsters negatively and can be hazardous for their self-esteem and compel
them to go on diets just to become thinner. Through the columns of your

"Wholesome Lunch Month" for all school students to counter the implications
of such misleading advertisements. This initiative is sure to encourage all
students to bring nutritious and healthy lunch every day and develop healthy
eating routines. To ensure that this project gains strength, schools may
organize puppet shows, street plays, Ted Talks (by Nutritionist/ Psychologist),
encompassing the theme, to foster healthy eating routines and a positive body
image. I hope that the publishing of my letter in the columns of your renowned

Subject: Flouting quarantine rules laid out during the pandemic
Sir,
I am writing this letter to bring your notice to a serious situation here in my
colony. I have noticed for the past few weeks that the residents of our colony
are not taking the outbreak of Covid seriously and are flouting quarantine
rules laid out for the public to follow. This is concerning and needs immediate
shake down as their careless actions runs the risk of making the pandemic
worse than it already is. There is little to no respect for quarantine rules, social
distancing is just a theory, the shops and public places are jammed packed,
and not everyone seems to wear masks. People in the red zone and lockdown
areas travel freely and casually with no restraint. At this rate the vulnerable
and high-risks people with pre-existing medical conditions might lose their
lives because of some irresponsible people who are flouting the rules. I hope
you look into the situation immediately and deal firmly with those who are
putting everyone at risk.

the mark of 60000. The year 2018 witnessed a good hike in the purchase of
both the devices and for the first time the purchase of smartphones surpassed
the purchase of computers. Smartphones crossed the 80000 mark. Whereas
computers remained slightly below the 80000 mark. In 2020 as well the
purchase of smartphone saw a good spike and reached around 90000 mark.
However, the purchase of computers saw an all time high and crossed the
100000 mark. Overall, however there was constant up and down in the
purchase of both the devices, the year 2020 concluded on a good note for both
the devices crossing 80000 mark and witnessing an all time hike in purchase.
3. Water is precious to us as we can't survive without water. But we have found
that water is being wasted everywhere by the mankind. The given pie-chart
shows how water is consumed in households in a metropolitan city in India.
By noticing the given data in pie-chart, we have found that 26% water is being
consumed in toilets while 22% of water is being used in washing clothes. This
is completely wastage of water. Water can be saved by recycle method as it is
being done in Japan. 14% of water is wasted just because of leakage in pipes
or in taps. People don't bother about the leakage. On the other hand, we waste
16% of water in shower. People love to have shower twice or thrice especially
in summer but they are not aware about how much water they are going to
waste. 17% of water is also being wasted on faucets while 2%on bathing and
others. While washing the dishes, we ourselves waste 1%of water although it
can be saved by keeping a big bowl under the tap in sink. Water is necessary
for the survival of each living creature on this planet, be it a small worm, plant
or animals. We are in the shortage of fresh water to drink just because of
excessive wastage of water in daily chores. Let's pledge not to waste a single
drop of water.
4. Social media is an excellent way to connect with customers and build
relationships. Millions of people use social media every day. Different age
groups of people use social media for different purposes. The chart given
below shows the percentage of social media users by age in India in 2020.
76% teens use the media to get news. 73% people of aging 20s use the social
media to get news. The most numbers of people aging 30s use media to get
news while least number of people aging 70+ use it to get news. The
maximum number of teens are interested in online games. On the other hand,
people aging 50s are least interested in online games while they are interested
in product research whilst teens are not interested at all in it. Teens are more
interested in downloads as compared to the age group of 70s. 83%of people
aging group 40s are interested in product research. But the age group of 30s
take interest in buying products. While the age group belong to70s take less
interest in buying products. Teens don't bother about searching people but the
age group of 20s are most interested in that. Social media is addictive and can
consume your time although it would help to connect with people but not
physically.
5. The given pie chart provides the different activities that can help children
improve their brain power. The given data shows that all these different
activities, in varying degrees, can help stimulate and improve a person's brain
power. Such activities are necessary in today's world as most of our
knowledge are just 'internet answers. Gone are the days when we study hard
to learn or write successfully. Advanced technology and the internet makes
finding 'answers' easy without any 'originality' from ourselves. The graph
presents how writing as well as doing puzzles, crosswords games etc. are the
highest brain stimulators. Next to them is social interaction which is followed
by discussing matters of current affairs. Such activities keep the brain
constantly moving, thereby allowing one's brain power to be constantly
updated. In the lower percentage group comes reading newspapers, regular
exercise as well as listening to music. But this doesn't mean that they are not
necessary. Rather, they are also important practices that will further help us.
To conclude, the graph shows that doing activities that makes the brain work
instead of just getting 'solutions' from the internet, is a much better form of
gaining knowledge as well as learning by oneself.
6. The given graph shows the different activities that children between the
ages of 13 to 15 years from over twenty schools prefer or one interested in.
This survey taken in the National Capital shows how different activities are
preferred by the children. Majority of the preference falls on Music, with the
children showing the most interest in it. The second most preferred activity is
shared by cricket and theatre, attracting about 40 children each. While music
alone stands the most interesting activity for the children, theatre and cricket
also seens to be preferred somehow. The least preferred activity is shared
between dance and art. These two activities do not seem to be interesting
enough for the children compared to the other activities. In conclusion,
despite the high rate of interest in pursuing music as an activity among the
children, we can also safely say that dance and art also holds a good degree of
importance or preference. Thus, music as an activity proved to be the activity
that interests the children the most.
ANSWERS
