Things found in the surroundings
People, animals, plants, landform and bodies of water are found in the
surroundings.

Land forms
Volcanoes - a mountain or hill with an opening.Volcanoes have played an
important role in shaping our Earth. Ash from volcanoes adds helpful minerals to soil.
This helps plants grow strong.
Mountains - are higher than their surrounding areas. They have steep
slopes and they served as habitat for different kinds of wild animals.
Hill - a usually rounded natural elevation of land lower than a
mountain.
Plateaus - are raised areas of land with a flat top.
Islands - are areas of land that are surrounded by water.
Plains - are wide, flat land.
Bodies of water
Rivers - are flowing bodies of water.They are in between lands
and are usually crossed by bridges.
Seas - a large body of water that connects to the ocean but is bound or
contained by a landmass.
Lake - is a body of water that surrounded by land. The water of the lake
comes from a river. It is usually bigger than a pond.
Pond - is an area filled with water that is smaller than a lake. It may
contain shallow water with aquatic plants and animals.
Waterfall - is a water that rushes down a mountain and falls off.
Ocean - the large contiguous body of water covering three-fourths
of the earth.
Importance of Things found in the surroundings.
People get food, clothing and shelter from the surroundings.
Food - we are able to plant crops such as vegetables, rice, and corn. We are able to
raise animals such as cows, pigs and chicken. We can also catch fish and other
seafood in bodies of water such as seas, lake, and river.
Animals get food from the surrounding, too.
Shelter - people build shelter on different places and using different materials in the
surroundings.
The surrounding served as natural habitat for many animals.
Clothing - people makes cloth from cotton, fur, leather and other materials we get from
the surroundings.
d. Application
Group activity
The teacher will group the class into two groups. Each group will be given a
crossword puzzle sheet relating to the things that we can find in our surroundings. After
finding at least three words, create a concept map using those words that shows their
importance and ways to protect them. After that, the group will choose at least one
representative to explain their work. The class will be given at least 10 minutes to do the
activity.
