600gm of water. Calculate its boiling point when vapour pressure of water becomes

(a) A first order reaction is 20% complete in 10 minutes. Calculate (i) the specific rate constant
of the reaction and (ii) the time taken for the reaction to go to 75% completion.

respectively. Find the molecular weight of benzoic acid in two cases and justify your
answer
(ii) Explain as to what happens when:
(A) Persistent dialysis of a colloidal solution is carried out.
(B) An electrolyte such as sodium chloride is added to ferric hydroxide sol.

(b) (i) The resistance of 0.5N solution of an electrolyte in a conductivity cell was found to be
25ohm. Calculate the equivalent conductivity of the solution if the electrode in the cell are
1.6cm apart and have an area of 3.2cm2.
(ii) What is standard hydrogen electrode?
(iii) Explain why:
(A) For a certain reaction large fraction of molecules has energy more than the threshold
energy yet the rate of reaction is very slow.
