Think back to your first week starting college, Week 1 in this course.

Compare where you are now in

your thinking about being a college student to how you were then:

What changes do you see? (8 pts) Some changes i see is that i am more adventerous and more involved
on campus then i wanted to be.

Did the concerns you had at the beginning of the semester turn out to be real for you, and what
concerns occurred that you were not anticipating? (8 pts) The concerns i origially had didn't affect me
as much as the ones i wasn't expecting did. I got lazy and my mental halth went down for a little bit but
as time went on everything got better and i feel good about things now.

As of today, how confident are you that you are going to be successful in college? Explain your answer.
(8pts) I am very confident that i will be successful. My grades may not be the best at the moment but i
am taking this as a learning experience and i now know what not to do in future semesters.

What do you feel like you learned about yourself this semester? (8 points) I learned that i am a follower
and tend to let others control my life and that i need to step up and take control of my own life.

How has First Year Seminar helped you make the transition to college and develop more fully into a
successful adult? (8 points) It helped me find some friends along with finding an adult i know that i can
trust and go to whenever i need help.

One of the goals of First Year Seminar is to provide meaningful academic experiences associated with the
topics we discuss. In your opinion, has First Year Seminar provided you with meaningful academic
experiences? If yes, discuss examples to support your answer. If no, what would make the course
experiences more academically meaningful to you? (8 points) Yes, in FYS we learned different study
tactics and ways to deal with stress so our school work doesn't fall behind.

Courses like First Year Seminar often help students develop a community with their classmates, such that
they feel a part of the group and develop a sense of connection with others in the course. In your
opinion, has First Year Seminar provided you with opportunities that have helped you feel connected
with the others in your class, so that you developed a sense of community? Provide examples to
support your answer. If not, what could be done differently to help students feel more connected to
their classmates in the course? (8 points) Yes, we do a question of the day every class which helped
students get to know one another. By the end of the semester we were all having conversations with
each other outside of class and truly became friends.
In your opinion, has First Year Seminar helped you develop leadership skills or engage in civic/community
engagement opportunities? Provide examples to support your answer. If not, what ideas do you have
about how the course could promote leadership and civic engagement? (8 points) FYS does a good job
helping students develop these skills but what helped me with these skills was being on the dance team
and joining a soroity.

In your opinion, has First Year Seminar helped you to appreciate and interact more effectively with
people who are different from you? Has it helped you to uncover any personal biases you might have in
the way you think about others who are different from you? Provide examples to support your answer.
If not, what ideas do you have about how the course could promote successful interactions with others
who are different than you? (8 points) It has helped me learn to be more open minded and get to know
people instead of judging them by their looks. I now take time to understand people and their
experiences and get to know their personalities before judging.

In your opinion, has First Year Seminar helped you in planning your career path and/or in identifying
appropriate career options based on your core skills, values, and personality qualities? (Or, has it made
you more certain about a career path you already knew you wanted to pursue?) Has the course assisted
you in knowing what steps to take to get started on a particular career path? Provide a detailed
response to these questions. If not, what ideas do you have about how the course could address these
goals? (8 points) The course helped me come up with questions i need to ask myself to know wether i
am going down the right path and choosing the right career or not. Without knowing what to ask myself
or what to take into consideration, i could be choosing the wrong career for me and become unhappy.

First Year Seminar has a goal of introducing students to basic financial information and skills. The course
sought to help students know how to understand and use financial aid, create a personal budget, use
credit responsibly, and plan for a successful financial future through developing emergency funds,
savings, and investing plans. In your opinion, has our course taught you valuable skills in these areas? If
so, which lessons were most valuable and why, and how will you approach your finances differently
because of what you have learned? If not, what ideas do you have about how the course could address
these goals more effectively? (10 points) Yes, this course has taught me many ways i can save and spend
in a smart way so my credit score doesnt get worse and i will have money for bigger better things. The
lesson that was most valuable to me was the using credit lesson. I will take this lesson and use what skills
i learned from it in the future.
