People, animals and plants are the living things that make up our surroundings. But there are also
many non-living things such as air, water, sunlight, and soil.

For this day, you will learn about things found in the environment.
Things Found in the Environment
People, animals and plants are the living things that make up our surroundings. But there
are also many non-living things.
For the non-living things found in the environment, read on page 270-271.
Surroundings Support Life
The characteristics of the surroundings are unique in every place. Living things are affected
by the characteristics of the surroundings.
Earthworms are not found in a pond because the characteristics of the surroundings in a
pond are not suitable for them to live.
