Make Them Hear You
Stephen Flaherty (born September 18, 1960 in Pittsburgh Pa.) is an
American composer of musical theatre and fi lm. He works most often in
collaboration with the lyricist/book writer Lynn Ahrens. They are best known
for writing the Broadway musicals Ragtime, which was nominated for
thirteen Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and won the Tony for Best
Original Score.
This piece of music comes from the show “Ragtime.” Ragtime was a
musical about America in the early 20th central was colored with random
bigotry. The main character, named Coalhouse Walker Jr., starts a revolt
after his wife is beaten and killed by police for trying to speak with
President Teddy Roosevelt. At the end of the play, just before his last stand,
he sings the song “Make Them Hear You.” Flattery went to say that he was
inspired by a western cowboy theme where the hero steps in and has his
final stand. He also goes on to say that it can be seen as a song to show
people you have a voice and will use it to take a stand.

Lin-Manuel Miranda was born on January 16, 1980 in New York, New York.
He is an American composer, lyricist, singer, actor, and playwright. He is
most well known for creating and starring in the Broadway musicals such
as In The Hight's and Hamilton. He actually got inspired the book Hamilton
to the point where he got in contact with the writer to help collaborate with
the musical.
"My Shot" is the third song from Hamilton, based on the life of Alexander
Hamilton, which premiered on Broadway in 2015. Alexander Hamilton
amazes several other young revolutionists with his verbal skills, talking
about his hopes for the distant future, his anger with the British and his
desire to be remembered, including if it means dying.

Cole Albert Porter was born June 9, 1891 in Santa Monica,
California and died October 15, 1964 was an American composer
and songwriter. Many of his songs became noted for their witty
urbane lyrics and very many of his pieces found major success in
fi lm and most notably Broadway.
All of You is a very well known song written by Porter that was
published in 1954. It was first shown off by Don Ameche in the
musical Silk Stockings. The song is mainly about how the main
character loves every inch of the woman he is admiring.

Giovanni Bononcini was born in Modena, Italy July 18, 1670
and died July 9, 1747. He was an Italian Baroque, singer and
teacher, one from a very expansive family of string players
and composers.
