All food provided by Moat Community College is halal (permissible).
Vegetables, pulses, grains and fish are halal by nature.

All meat products are purchased from suppliers with halal certification
(see Further Information at end of this document for supplier and Moat does not serve any food
halal authority information) and prepared in a kitchen which is not considered to be haram

Slaughter by a religious method
2. In this Schedule references to slaughter by a religious method are references to slaughter without the infliction of
unnecessary suffering—
(b)by the Muslim method for the food of Muslims by a Muslim who holds a licence in accordance with Schedule 1.
FOOD HYGIENE
The principal that food should be Tayyib (good, pure, wholesome) is often raised along
with concerns about whether food is halal. Moat Catering at Moat Community College
received a 5 (Very Good) rating from the Food Standards Agency in its most recent
inspection.
MEAT FREE ALTERNATIVES
The college provides vegetarian and fish alternatives every day. These dishes are prepared away from meat
dishes with separate preparation equipment.
