Floor Plate Thickness:


The Floor thickness is to be increased as follows—

Therefore, 𝑡 = 8 + 8 3.5 + %

= 8.29944 mm
So, we take floor plate thickness as in way of engine, 𝑡 ≈ 9 mm

Inner Bottom Plating:


Between the foundation girders, the thickness of inner bottom plating required is to be
increased by 2mm.

𝑡 =𝑡 +2
= (5+2) mm
=7 mm
So, we take Inner Bottom Plating as in way of engine, 𝑡 = 7 mm
Longitudinal Girder:
The thickness of longitudinal girders above the inner bottom is not to be less than for—

So, we take the thickness of longitudinal girder as, T≈ 16 mm

Foundation Bolts:
The foundation bolts for fastening the engine at the seating shall be spaced no more apart
than

From the longitudinal foundation girder, where the distance of the foundation girder is the
longitudinal foundation girder is greater, proof of equivalence is to be provided, where,
d= diameter of the foundation bolt =30 mm
Therefore, 𝑠 = 3 × 30
=90 mm

Face Plate Dimension:


The thickness of top plate should approximately be equal to the diameter of the fitted in bolts.
So, we have the thickness of the top plate as,
tt= 30 mm
Again, the sectional area of the top plate should not be less than, for P>750 kW

So, the width of top plate will be---

WEB FRAME:
The longitudinal girders of the engine seating are to be supported transversely by means of
web frames. The scantlings of the web frames are to be taken as before.
Hence, dimension of the web frame, I-section: 800 × 10 𝑚𝑚.
