PHOTOGRAPHY
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

Source: Swiss International Hotels & Resorts

Customer research shows that photography on Hotel Web Sites increases
bookings and revenue. Guests and meeting planners use property-specific
images to preview the hotel’s exterior, public spaces, guest rooms, restaurants
and meeting facilities to validate their choice of hotel when deciding to book
guest rooms and meetings.

Still Images Technical Specifications

To maintain Swiss International’s brand standards, all photography on
swissinternationalhotels.com and swissspirithotels.com must be professional-
quality:

 Full-color (no black & white)

 In sharp focus (not fuzzy or blurry)
 Well-lit (no dark shadows that hide important details)
 Natural lighting (no overly bright or high-contrast areas)
 If using people, should reflect guest and associate diversity
 Photography files should be high resolution (300 dpi); sRGB, after color corrections
have been made.
 Files should not be cropped, optimized or scaled.
 Files should be between 4,000 and 5,000 pixels wide (long edge). We will accept larger
files but that’s the recommended size for upload time.
 Jpegs are preferred for best quality. TIFFs are acceptable.
 PHOTOS TAKEN WITH MOBILE DEVICES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Photography that does not meet these qualifications will be considered unusable.

360° Images Technical Specifications

To maintain Swiss International’s brand standards, all 360° images on
swissinternationalhotels.com and swissspirithotels.com must be of professional-
quality and submitted in the correct format.

 The files should have the ability to look/scroll straight up at the ceiling or sky; and also
straight down at the floor where the tripod of the camera would be. The panoramic
picture will have a vertical field of view of 180 degrees and a horizontal field of view of
360 degrees.
 Final panoramas should scroll smoothly with no pixilation or jagged edges
 No logos should be incorporated in the 360 file (including the property logo)
 swissinternationalhotels.com and swissspirithotels.com only supports files saved
as a spherical jpg (equirectangular panorama)
 There is no file size restriction.

Photographer's Information

 The pixel dimensions are the width x length of a spherical jpg (equirectangular
panorama). The length is double the size of the width, and the file size stays less than
800k.
 Recommendation: Height=1024 pixels x Width=2048 pixels, at a medium compression
or any compression that gets you under the 800k limit.
 A larger file will yield better quality, but will need to be compressed more to stay under
the 800k file size
 The PAN setting will be a default of 0 (zero). When creating the jpeg file, please take
this into consideration. The opening image the viewer views, needs to be something
interesting, not the parking lot or the back of a door.
 Following are the default settings that will be used to code 'every' new panorama added
to swissinternationalhotels.com and swissspirithotels.com. o "fov" value="100" o
"fovmax" value="100" o "fovmin" value="25" o "pan" value="0"
 The viewable size on the Web will be: width=610 pixels x height=423 pixels. This refers
only to the window size on the Web site, not the actual size of the image.
 No vendor logos or contact information permitted anywhere on the final image. This
includes digital watermarks.
 Final image to be free of tripod or shadows indicating the photographer.
