is the way we see ourselves.
It is built on self-knowledge.
It is how we think, how we

SELF-ESTEEM
is the value we place upon
ourselves. Individual levels
of self-esteem are dependent
on the way we evaluate
ourselves.
IDEAL SELF
is the self we would
like to be.

GROUP ACTIVITY
• The class will be divided into four (4) groups.
• Share within your group your thoughts/perspectives
regarding the picture (10 min).
• Choose a facilitator and documenter during group
discussion.
• Choose a reporter to present the results of your
discussion to the class (3 min each group).

MASLOW’S HIERARCHY
OF NEEDS
Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs
is one of the best-known theories of
motivation.

This theory states that our actions are


motivated by certain physiological and
psychological needs that progress
from basic to complex.
SELF-ACTUALIZATION
• In psychology, it is a concept regarding
the process by which an individual
reaches his or her full potential.
• The “perfect congruence”
DEVELOPMENT
OF SELF-CONCEPT
• Begins to develop in early
childhood.
• This process continues
throughout the lifespan.
• It is between early childhood
and adolescence that self-
concept experiences the
most growth.

ADOLESCENCE

It Is the period in life


• When an individual is no longer a child, but not yet an adult.
• In which an individual goes through enormous physical,
mental and emotional changes.
• Wherein experience changes in social expectations and
perceptions.
• During this period, physical growth and development are
accompanied by sexual maturation.
The physical and psychological
changes that take place in
adolescence often start earlier,
during the preteen or "tween"
years: ages 9 and 12.
One of the significant changes
that occur in adolescent’s life
are the physical aspects which
is describe as puberty stage.
PUBERTY
• Puberty is a time of rapid physical growth
• It is when the body of boys and girls grow
bigger and taller, genitals mature, and often
hair starts growing in new places on the body.
Starts between ages 9 to18.
• New chemicals produced by the body called
hormones are developing in the body,
creating changes in the body and turning
young people into adults.
ADOLESCENCE,

Being comfortable with one’s own
body, and having a positive
outlook towards these changes
contributes to the development of
your self-image, self-esteem, and
ideal self.
REPRODUCTIVE CAPACITY
OF MEN AND WOMEN
OVER THE LIFE CYCLE
Male Fertility:
• Beginning with his first ejaculation, a
man is fertile every day and has the
ability to father a child for the rest of his
life.
• The man’s fertility is signaled by his first
ejaculation while being asleep, known
as wet dreams or nocturnal emissions.
REPRODUCTIVE CAPACITY
OF MEN AND WOMEN
OVER THE LIFE CYCLE
Female Fertility:
• A woman is fertile when she has the
ability to become pregnant.
• A woman is fertile only certain days of
each menstrual cycle - these are the
days when she can become pregnant.
• A woman is fertile for a few days of
each cycle from her first menstruation
until menopause.
