including the cargo.
• A distribution center: a product storage and shipping building that
stores goods
• Less than Container Load: It refers to situations when the cargo has
small volumes or dimensions that will not take up the entire space of
a container.
• Electronic Data Interchange: the computer-to-computer exchange of
business documents in a standard electronic format between
business partners.
• Value Added Service: the additional distribution and
warehousing services offered by third-party logistics providers
to business looking to outsource their supply chain operations
such as custom packing, cross-docking and quality controls.
• Radio Frequency Identification: wireless non-contact system
that utilizes radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer
data from a tag attached to an object for the purposes of
automatic identification and tracking.
• International Standard Organization: an international
nongovernmental organization made up of national standards bodies;
it develops and publishes a wide range of proprietary, industrial, and
commercial standards and is comprised of representatives from
various national standards organizations.
• Global Positioning System: a global navigation satellite system that
provides location, velocity and time synchronization.
