FAITHFULNESS
7th session
But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go,
and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. (Ruth 1:16
NIV)
We live during a time where it is difficult for people to change the way they think.
It Is also hard to find someone who can keep a covenant to God or someone who is completely
committed to God. Many believers have not entered into a covenant with God. As a result, they
are being attacked more than ever before in history. We see a woman who was not from Jewish
family yet she still remains one of the greatest examples of true faithfulness.
Ruth made a crucial decision one that was more than just words and she followed her heart.
FAITHFULNESS cannot be imposed and it does not follow orders. A faithful person is
someone who has made a decision from their heart to remain steadfast during the crucial testing
moments of life..
God rewarded Ruth's faithfulness and blessed her abundantly. She thought that she would never
remarry but God blessed her with a new family. Likewise, in the garden of Gethsemane Jesus
offered himself completely for our salvation - as the first time that He shed His blood in the
garden of gethsemane like:
SWEAT LIKE DROPS OF BLOOD
When the human body endures extremely stressful situations it reacts by perspiring as a means of
cooling of balancing body heat. Perspiration is also a physical response to excitement or fear.
These different emotions accelerate our blood flow and cause the bodies temperature to
increase. All human beings experience these sorts of bodily responses and so did Jesus. The first
time Jesus shed his blood was in the garden of Gethsemane. the blood that He shed from his
body has an incredible significance.
“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel
from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more
earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. (Luke 22:42-44 NIV)
The most crucial moment of Jesus ministry what's the time he spent in the garden of
Gethsemane. The word 'crucial' comes from the Latin word cruci or crux crossing the pats that
can steer us into different directions. The night that Jesus spent in Gethsemane what's the most
distressing night he had ever experienced.
Sin came into the world because Eve listen to a snake and was deceived. When Eve heard the
serpent she fell into his trap. Eve said to God 'the serpent deceived me' the human race was
cursed because Eve was deceived. Jesus didn't come into this world as God. In the book of
Philippians’ the apostle Paul declared, ' Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his
own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being
made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by
becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:6-8 NIVUK)
Jesus had to endure pain, distress, anxiety and worry just like man. He was God, He came to us,
as a man.
JESUS COMPLETE FAITHFULNESS
Jesus assumed direct responsibility for his calling. While Jesus was in the Garden of
Gethsemane, He was able to see the distress and agony that He would have to endure during the
last hours of His life. He did not want to suffer and prayed saying, “Father, if you are willing,
take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done “(Luke 22:42)
*WHAT WAS JESUS REFERRING TO?
THE BOOK OF REVELATION SPEAKS ABOUT THE PERIOD OF TIME WHERE
HEAVEN WAS SILENCE FOR HALF AN HOUR. I believe that during this time of silence in
heaven Jesus asked God "Father is there any other way to redeem humanity? Father is there a
way for the humanity to be redeem which does not include suffering, derision, mockery, pain,
shame and rejection?"
Imagine what this going on in heaven in this time. All of the angels probably looked to the
father and ask "why are you going to say to your son?" The Angels love Jesus as much as they
love the FATHER. They respect and praise Jesus as they revere the father and the holy spirit.
One of the angels probably ask the father "would you allow me to search in heaven and see if
there is someone who is worthy to redeem humanity?"
The FATHER probably responded "yes try to find someone." After a few minutes passed by the
angel most likely returned and said, "father I looked for someone that could take his place. I
thought about Michael, Gabriel, and others but they are not worthy. They cannot die for all
humanity because they are not human beings." Then another angel chimed in and said, "father
maybe we should look for someone who is human?" God replied, "yes try to find someone."
The angels began to interview different people in heaven. They found Abel and said, "Abel, you
understand what An offering is because you were the first one to offer your best to God." Abel
answered, "yes it is true. I know what an offering is, but I am not willing to give my own life.
Only someone with a divine nature can do that and I do not have a divine nature." Next, they
most likely approached Noah, "are you capable of redeeming all of Humanity?" Noah probably
smiled and said, "I was chosen to redeem my generation but I was only able to save my family
and few animals. So I am not the one." The Angels continued their search and find someone
found Abraham. They spoke to Abraham and said " Father Abraham, you cannot turn us down.
You are the father of faith. Can you help us? We need someone who can redeem humanity. "
Abraham replied, " God knows that I understand how to offer a sacrifice unto Him because when
God asked this of me, I was willing to offer my own son. But that is as much as I can do. I have
already done my part." Most likely, the angel that was inquiring of the others then returned to
God's throne. The angel reported to God, "Father, we have interviewed a few different people
and have not found anyone; although, I did learn something: if a human was willing to offer his
own son, then you must be willing to offer Your own Son as well. There is no other alternative."
"You are right, but I cannot control His will. He must make that decision Himself, " God
answered.
When Jesus prayed, He was aware of everything going on in heaven. He spoke to God and said,
" Father, You sent me here and promised that you would be with me forever. I feel unprotected
and as if I have been thrown to the wolves. Is this my destiny?" The Father replied, "My Son,
you know that I will always be with you, but there is no other way. You are the only one who is
able to redeem all humanity through your death. If you do not go through with this, all of the
children that created will spend eternity in Hell. Son, I will help you. You have to be strong and
courageous. I will send an angel to help you during this difficult time."
That was the most agonizing night for Jesus. He did not only sweat water; He sweated blood as
well. The blood that Jesus shed was in His perspiration, it fell from His brow to the ground, and
broke the curse of deception.. MEANING- We cannot be deceived once God's law is imprinted
in our mind and in our hearts.
The precious blood that Jesus shed broke every curse. After He prayed for the 3rd time, all of
heaven bowed before Him. Heaven worshipped and admired Him for His courage. They said,
"we love you Jesus. You are the one and only redeemer.
As a church we should be thankful because the blood of Jesus has broken all the curses that were
in our lives at one time. His blood has destroyed the curses of deception, unfaithfulness, betrayal,
and condemnation.
FAITHFUL DISCIPLES
Dr. Paul Yonggi Cho of South Korean once shared what he felt were the greatest attack’s against
his ministry. As he listed them one by one,the seventh attack that he mentioned was betrayal. He
told us about three of his most important leaders that rebelled against him to start their own
ministry. Each of the leaders had about fifty cells. Their goal was to take about two thousand
people that were under their leadership and start a new church. These rebellious leaders taught
their disciples to be faithful to them, but not to the church. They started the new church and had
about three hundred people come to their first meeting. After a few weeks majority of the people
return to the church..
These leaders had a twisted idea of faithfulness. There are people who do not understand what it
means to be faithful, yet they preach about the subject.
Faithfulness means to put aside your will or message and give room to exalt someone else. Jesus
is the greatest example of faithfulness because the word's a person speaks reflects what is truly in
their heart. Jesus is the word of God, and the expression of what God feels on His heart.
The things that we say are a reflection of what is inside of our heart. Jesus was faithful to His
Father and said, "If anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching
comes from God or whether I speak on my own. Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain
personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is
nothing false about him. (John 7:17, 18 NIVUK)
"The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.’
(John 8:29 NIVUK)
Jesus had an intimate relationship with God the father because He voluntarily put Himself aside,
he chose to do the will and of the Father. Because of this, Jesus could say, " I and My Father are
one" (John 10:35)
JESUS WAS BOTH GOD AND MAN
Who would not feel discouraged of they were to find out they were about to face the greatest trial
of their lives? Jesus was hesitant to go through such trial. In the garden of Gethsemane, He was
able to foresee the pain and agony that would soon have to endure. Jesus strengthened Himself in
God and faced every trial. The most faithful and the most unfaithful man met in the Garden of
Gethsemane. Jesus was confronted by Judas. The son of salvation faced the son of perdition.
Jesus renounced His Divine privileges because of love and Judas sold his master and friend for a
few pieces of silver. Jesus knew the pain and agony He would have to endure. Nevertheless, He
continued to follow God's will. Jesus had already made a decision in His heart to offer His life
because He loved us..
The blood that Jesus shed from His brow protects us from deception... and unfaithfulness — the
blood of Jesus from His brow protects our mind from ruin of deception and betrayal..
MAKE IT A REALITY IN YOU...
- make a list of all the people that you need to forgive
- Put a word of God into action and guard it in your heart.
- Reflect on the effects that deceptions and betrayal have had in your life
- forgive anyone who has deceived or betrayed you.
-apply the blood that Jesus shed from His brow in the garden of Gethsemane over your life in
order to break the curse of deception and unfaithfulness ..
-Declare that God is faithful and that He will never fail you.
-confess words of life and peace.
