Faye has taken a lot of inspiration from the colour in the photo. The stripes,
florals, pinks and yellows are all emulated within her use of paper strips
and inking. The image of friendship is recreated in her Stamping Bella
stamp, with two girls hugging. The black die-cut heart around them not only
symbolises the theme of friendships.

remember these rules:
Use a low ISO – This is what we
refer to as film speed. The lower the
number the better image quality
you will achieve. For example, an
ISO of 100 will produce a much finer
quality image than ISO 800 which
will appear ‘noisy’ when enlarged.

• Secure your camera – If you have

a tripod, use it. It’ll help you use
lower ISO settings and the lower
shutter speeds you need to use
and also avoid camera shake.
Also you’ll be able to fine tune

having to reset the shot each time.

READER PROJECT

HANDPICKED
We see so many amazing designs here at MCHQ, we wish we could share them all! Instead we pick a
card we think deserves to be in the spotlight and learn a little about the maker as well as how it was put
together. This card by Caryn Davies was created using the stamp set she illustrated for Avery Elle!

About me
I live on the Wirral
with my husband and
5 children. I started
papercrafting when
I was expecting my
4th baby (who’s now 15!!!) and spent a
few years scrapbooking before realising
cardmaking was a much quicker process
and took up less working space! I love a
clean and simple style of card and enjoy
Christmas crafting the most. A few years
ago I tried my hand at illustrating and have
created nearly 30 different designs for
Avery Elle Stamps including the Sunflower
set featured above.

How I made it... E57 and E39 for the flower centres. I die-cut the attached the wreath using foam tape and

If you’d like one of your designs to be considered for Handpicked then send it to the Editor at the address below
along with detailed instructions of how it was made. Don’t forget to tell us a little bit about yourself and include a recent photo.
