TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY

A. PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES

Before we formally start our lesson for today

may I request everyone to please stand as we
seek guidance and protection to our heavenly
father.

May ask Bench Carlo to lead us in a

prayer? (The volunteer students will come in front
and lead us in prayer)
Good Morning class!
Good Morning, Ma’am! (All)

Is there somebody absent in our class

today? May I ask the secretary to
report?
(The secretary will respond)

● Review
Now let's have a short review by answering the
following questions:

What was our past lesson? Me, Ma’am!

Yes, Bench Our lesson from our last meeting was all
about Selecting a Health Career Pathway.
Very good,
What are the Health career pathways? Can I, Ma’am?

Yes, Sheeka? Health career pathways are a cluster of

occupations grouped together
because of shared skills. There are 12 various
health career pathways such as
1. Community Healthcare;
2. Dental Health;
3. Disease Prevention and Control;
4. Drug Prevention and Control;
5. Emergency Medical Services;
6. Environmental Healthcare
Management;
7. Health Education;
8. Maternal and Child Care;
9. Mental Healthcare;
10. Nutrition;
11. Occupational Safety; and
12. Personal Healthcare.

Nice answer!
Why is it important to understand the different
health career pathways before choosing which
one to pursue? Ma’am!

Yes, Ferdi! Understanding different health career

pathways is crucial as it allows individuals to
make informed decisions about their future
career direction.

Very good,
What else? Me, Ma’am!

Yes, Valentine? By having knowledge of various career

options within the healthcare sector,
individuals can align their skills, interests,
and goals with the most suitable pathway,
increasing the likelihood of long-term
success and satisfaction in their chosen
profession.

.
Very nice answer,
Now you understand our past lesson.

● Motivation
Before we start our discussion for today. I
would like to have a little fun by playing a
game.

We will play a game called "I’LL FLASH IT,

YOU GUESS IT”

Let's take a look how to play this game, will HOW TO PLAY
you please read Jhoeven,
1. The teacher will flash an image of a
health care profession on the screen.
2. When the image is shown, the
students should raise their right hand
to indicate they want to guess the
career.
3. The teacher will call on a student
with a raised hand to provide their
answer.
4. If the student's answer is correct, they
earn a point.

Understand?

(start flashing the image)

(resume the music)

Yes, Sir (students)
(stop the music)
(students passed the dice)

It seems like everyone has prior knowledge (the first student chooses a picture and gives
about the topic for today; now let's proceed to a thought about it)
our discussion.
(students passing the Dice)

(the second student chooses a picture and

gives a thought about it)

B. Development of the Lesson

For us to be guided properly with our topic for

today, here is the question we need to answer
as we go along the discussion. Kindly read it in
class. How can we equip ourselves with the
knowledge and skills to differentiate between
drug use and abuse, identify various types of
drugs and their potential harms, analyze real-
world scenarios to make informed decisions
about drug use, and develop effective
strategies for refusing drugs and seeking help
when needed?
Thank you!
Anyone who has an idea about the defining
differences between drug use and drug abuse? Drug use encompasses the consumption of
substances for various purposes within legal
and ethical boundaries, while drug abuse
involves excessive consumption leading to
negative consequences on physical health,
mental well-being, and relationships.

Drug Use
The consumption of substances in a controlled
manner for legitimate purposes, such as
medical treatment or recreational use within
legal limits.

Keywords: Consumption, Controlled manner,

and Legitimate purposes

Drug Abuse
The excessive, compulsive, or inappropriate
consumption of substances leads to negative
consequences on physical, mental, or social
well-being.

Keywords: Excessive, Compulsive,

Inappropriate and Negative consequences

Do you understand the difference between drug

use and drug abuse, class? If yes, I prepared a
simple activity that will help all of you to
differentiate drug use and drug abuse easily
and clearly.

I need 9 volunteers to come in front and pick

their glass of beer. Each beer has a number
representing the example on the television.
Each of you will put the number to its
corresponding category whether it is under
drug use or drug abuse. Is it clear? Yes, Ma’am.
The volunteers will do the activity.

May I ask anyone to summarize all the answers (A student will volunteer.)
under drug use to check whether all answers
are correct?

That’s amazing! (A student will volunteer.)

How about under drug abuse?

That’s correct! Thank you!

To check whether you truly understand the

lesson, how do we distinguish between drug (King will raise his hand)
use and drug abuse? Anyone?

Distinguishing between drug use and abuse

Yes, King? involves assessing the frequency and
quantity of substance consumption. Drug use
typically involves occasional or moderate
consumption, while abuse entails excessive
and harmful intake beyond recommended
doses.

Additionally, the need for professional

Nice answer! Anyone else? Sofia. intervention is crucial in cases of drug abuse.
While occasional drug use may not require
external assistance, persistent and
problematic abuse often necessitates
professional help such as therapy,
counseling, or rehabilitation programs to
address underlying issues and promote
recovery.

Great job! Your insightful answer demonstrates

your understanding and engagement with the
topic. Keep up the excellent work!

So now, after we tackle and differentiate

between drug use and drug abuse. Now, we
will have a recitation but before that, I want
you to read the materials I give to you so that

Our Activity for today is all about defining the
kind of drug addiction. I will divide the class
into two groups. This is Group 1 and this is
Group 2.

(Group the students)

In this Activity, Group 1 will put their answer
on Stimulants and Group 2 will be

Okay very good class

Based on what you have performed earlier, I

have a question here: Why do we need to study
the two categories of drug?

Anyone who wants to answer, or have an idea?

Yes, Warren?
(Warren raising her hand)

Studying these drugs helps us understand

their mechanisms of action, risk factors for
addiction, and develop effective prevention,
treatment, and harm reduction strategies.
Nice idea, how about Rogelio, he is raising his
hand.

For me ma’am, It's important to be aware of

the potential risks and side effects of both
stimulants and depressants before using
a Ha! them, even if they are prescribed by a doctor.
Is there any other hand? Yes Valentine

(Valentine Raised his hand)

Understanding these drugs empowers

individuals to make informed decisions
about their own health and well-being,
Very Good Answer! reducing the risk of misuse and addiction.

To sum it up in class, I’m reminding you that

studying stimulants and depressants is crucial
for addressing various public health challenges,
improving healthcare, promoting individual
well-being, and informing effective policies
and regulations. It's an ongoing process
requiring continuous research and
collaboration among scientists, healthcare
professionals, policymakers, and the public.

Now that you already have an idea of our

activity, let’s now move on to the next activity.
The next Activity was called Arrange Me!

Evaluation.

From this activity, I will group you into three

groups. This will be Group 1, this is Group 2
and Group 3 is for this area.

For your mechanics, I will give you a jumbled

picture that is connected to our lesson today,
once I give it to you, you arrange it in their
proper order and after you assemble that,
select one member of your group that will be
going in front and give the name of the picture
and its positive and negative impact to people,
remember that you have given a 1 minute time
to finish your activity. Now, are you ready Students follow the instructions
class? clap twice if you are ready.
Time's up, kindly go in front of the one
representative of your group.
Student’s discussion

You may now be seated. Every Group had an

excellent presentation, I'm so glad that you
have learned a lot today about the effects of
substance use and abuse. I am looking forward
to that energetic collaboration at our next
meeting.
