A long time ago, in a place called Judea, there
was a man named Zechariah and his wife,
Elizabeth. They loved God very much and tried
to do what was right. But they were sad
because they had no children, and now they
were both very old.
One day, while Zechariah was in the
temple praying, something amazing happened.
An angel of God suddenly appeared right next
to him!
Narrator:
And from that moment, Zechariah couldn’t
speak! He came out of the temple, and
everyone saw him making signs with his
hands, but he couldn’t say a word.
Later, just as the angel said, Elizabeth
found out she was going to have a baby. She
was so happy and thanked God for giving her
this special blessing.
Scene 1 (Angel Gabriel visited Mary)
A long time ago, in a town called Nazareth there
lived a young woman named Mary. One day
something amazing happened.
Scene 2 (Joseph had a dream)
Joseph found out that Mary was to have a baby
and wanted to leave her quietly so she would
not be disgrace. But before he could, the angel
of the Lord appeared to him in a dream
Scene 3 (Elizabeth and the angel)
The angel also brought special news to
Elizabeth and her husband Zachariah. The had
no children but God was about to bless them
Though Zachariah was surprised, God’s promise
was true. Elizbeth was going to have a baby.
Scene 4 (Mary and Elizabeth)
After Mary heard the angel’s news, she went to
visit her cousin Elizbeth.
Scene 5 (Ceaser’s Decree)
Meanwhile, in another part of the land, Ceasar
Augustus, the ruler empire made an important
announcement.
Because of these, Mary and Joseph had to
travel to Bethlehem even though Mary was
going to have her baby soon. They arrived and
met the innkeepers.
Mary and Joseph found a place in the stable
where animals lived. It wasn’t fancy but it was a
safe place for the baby to be born.
Scene 6 (The birth of Jesus)
That night, baby Jesus was born! He was laid in
a manger because there was no room for them
in the inn. The angels sang to the shepherd in
the fields, telling them about this wonderful
event.
Scene 7 (The Shepherd)
And there were shepherds in the fields nearby,
an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the
glory of the Lord shown around them.
Suddenly a crowd of angels appeared praising
God and saying “Glory be to God in the highest
heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom
his favour rest”
So, the shepherds hurried off and found Mary
and Joseph and the baby who was lay in a
manger.
Scene 8 (King Herod and the three wise men)
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in
the days of Herod the king. Behold, there came
wise men from the east.
King Herod heard about the wise men and the
baby who was called the King of Jews. He called
the wise men secretly to him.
King Herod had no intention of worshipping the
baby. Jealousy and fear lived in his heart and he
planned to kill the child. But the wise men went
on their own and followed the star to the place
the child was. The saw the child and
worshipped him.
This was the First Christmas. After the wise men
had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to
Joseph in a dream and told him to escape to
Egypt. There they lived until King Herod died
and they went to live in a town called Nazareth.
Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and with
favour with God and man. He was the son of
God, born to save his people by bearing their
sin.
