Water sector, refers to the industry involved in the management treatment, distribution and
conservation of water resources. It involves various aspects such as water supply, wastewater
treatment, irrigation and water resource management.
The following are the importances of water sector.
Human health, access to clean and safe water is fundamental for human health and well-being. It is
crucial for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene. A lack of access to clean water can lead to the spread
of waterborne diseases causing illness and even death.
Agriculture and food security, water is essential for agriculture, as it is used for irrigation to grow
crops and sustain livestock. A reliable water supply is crucial for ensuring food security and supporting
agricultural production to meet the needs of a growing population.
Sanitation, proper water and sanitation are vital for maintaining hygiene and preventing the spread
of diseases. Improved sanitation including adequate toilets and wastewater management systems,
reduces the risk of contamination and promotes public health.
Environmental services, the water sector plays a vital role in providing environmental services,
wetlands, rivers and aquifers contribute to biodiversity, support ecosystems and provide valuable

In kisesa deep wells are three(3), a short covered wells are twenty (20), uncovered wells are eight (8),
aquifer there is one (1), there is no river in kisesa in kisesa village, pond there is one (1), water pipe
there are five (5), and there is no other water resources in Kisesa village, and the number of buckets
used per day in the household range from five to twelve (5-12). As the table below shows the condition
