How to change from Affirmative to Negative:


Affirmative Negative
1 Only/ alone (i) None but (ব্যক্তির ক্ষেত্রে)
(ii) Nothing but (ব্স্তুর ক্ষেত্রে )
(iii) Not more than ( সংখ্যার ক্ষেত্রে )
2 Every + Sub + V + Obj There is no + S + but + V + 0bj
Or, There is no + S + who doesn’t + V + 0bj
Or, Every → No + ( every এর পত্ররর noun + adj এর
ক্তব্পরীত শব্দ + obj )
3 Both- and/ and Not only but also

Details Rules:
1 Only/ alone (i) None but (ব্যক্তির ক্ষেত্রে)
(ii) Nothing but (ব্স্তুর ক্ষেত্রে )
(iii) Not more than ( সংখ্যার ক্ষেত্রে )
1. Affir: Only he can do the work. 2. Affir: He bought only this book.
Neg: None but he can do the work. Neg: He bought nothing but this work.
3. Affir: He gave me only two books.
Neg: He gave me not more than two books.

Note: only / alone subject এর আত্রে ব্া পত্রর ক্তক্ংব্া object এর ঘত্রর ব্ত্রস। মত্রে রাখ্ত্রত হত্রব্ ক্ষে only/alone
োত্রক্ উত্রেশয ক্ত্রর ব্ত্রস ক্তিক্ তাত্রির পূ ত্রব্ে –ই none but , nothing but , not more than ব্ত্রস ।

2 Every + Sub + V + Obj There is no + S + but + V + 0bj


Or, There is no + S + who doesn’t + V + 0bj
Or, Every → No + ( every এর পত্ররর noun + adj এর
ক্তব্পরীত শব্দ + obj )
1. Affir: Every mother loves her child. Neg : There is no mother but loves her child.
Or. There is no mother who does not love her child.

2. Affir: Everyone loves her Neg: There is no one but loves her.
Or. There is no one who does not love her.
Or. No one hates her.

3 Both- and/ and Not only but also

1. Affir: Both Sadia and her brother will do this work.


Neg: Not only Sadia but also her brother will do this wo
2. Affir: Sadia and Naurin will do this work.
Neg: Not only Sadia but also Naurin will do this work.

Note: শুধু both not only এব্ং and এর হত্রে but also ব্সাত্রত হত্রব্। তত্রব্ শুধু

এর স্থত্রে but also ব্সাত্রত হত্রব্।


4 Either--- or Neither-- nor

1. Affir: Either Sadia or her brother will do this work.


Neg: Neither Sadia nor her brother will do this work.
2. Affir: He helped either Rohan or Adnan.
Neg: He helped neither Rohan nor Adnan.

Note: শুধু either এর স্থত্রে neither এব্ং or এর স্থত্রে nor ব্সাত্রত হত্রব্।

5 As soon as No sooner had-- than

1. Affir: As soon as Moqul saw me, he told me his problem.


Neg: No sooner had Mokul seen me than he told me his problems.

Note: As soon as এর স্থত্রে No sooner had + Sub + V (pp) + --- + than + 2nd sentence
6 Must/ have to /has to cannot but / can not help + V(ing)

1. Affir: He must do the work. Neg: He can not but do the work.
Or. He can not help doing the work.

Note: শুধু must এর স্থত্রে can not but/ can not help ব্সাত্রত হত্রব্ এব্ং help ব্সাত্রে তার পত্রর verb এর
সাত্রে ing েু ি ক্রত্রত হত্রব্।

7 Had to Could not but


1. Affir: You had to do the work.

Neg: You couldn’t but do the work.


8 As-- as not less--than

1. Affir: Prince is as tall as his father.


Neg: Prince is not less tall than his father.

Note: শুধু as এর স্থত্রে not less এব্ং ২ে as এর স্থত্রে than ব্সাত্রত হত্রব্।

8 সাধারণ ব্াক্য হত্রে ব্াক্যক্তি not/never ক্তিত্রে negative ক্রত্রত হত্রব্ এব্ং
affirmative শব্দক্তির negative ব্া ক্তব্পরীত রূপ ব্সাত্রত হত্রব্।

1. Affir: He always obeys me.


Neg: He never disobeys me.
2. Affir: He failed in the exam.
Neg: He could not pass in the exam.
3. Affir: Sadi-Imam is an honest boy.
Neg: Sadi-Imam is not a dishonest boy.
