WRITING TASK 1: MINH

The given table and pie charts illustrate how many students learning to do researches in
universities of Australia in 2001 and 2010 in terms of their genders and origins.
Overall, there were more research students in 2010 than that in 2001 and Australian universities
were participated by more foreigners after 9 years.
The total amount of students increased more than 20 thousand during the studied period. Turning
to more details, while regional amateur researchers went up slightly to almost 4,000 in 2010,
2010’s students from abroad had rocketed as twice as those of 2001, from 5192 to 14593
respectively.
The percentage of international learners was added by 14% during the 9-year time, while local
students decreased from 87% to 73% after the same period. In comparing by genders, we can
easily seen that the proportion of male and female local learners tended to be the same in both
recorded years. However, there was a slight change in foreigners when number of men was
higher in 2001 and the contrary tend happened in 2010.

WRITING TASK 2:MINH

Most nations today choose economic improvement as their main way to enforce residents’ life
quality, but consequencely some values which belong to society have been pulled down. People
have different perspectives about whether this has a good effect on people’s life, or the contrary
thing happens. In my opinion, I believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks here.
There are several good points that have to be mentioned in terms of economic development. First
of all, governments’ investments in services that help upgrade nation’s economy can also benefit
people’s life. This is evident in hospitals and schools, with gigantic amount of money, modern
and latest technology can be applied in treatments and educating purpose. Citizens now have the
access to the best curing methods, the most functional teaching facilities in a blink of an eye.
Culture heritage such as ancient constructions or old temples will be refurbished so as to not only
be served for ........purpose but also keep the social enrichment alive.
On the other hand, some individuals claim that this has a bad effect on general life. One of the
primary reason is that people can lose their communicating skills as a result of high-tech devices.
Strenthening states’ economy means that more and more automobiles will be ultilized by
dwellers, and people may rely too much on online preferences and become lazy discussing in
person. Another reason can be mentioned is that while countries pay too much attention on
economy, charities are not funded as often as they should be. This is quite bad like in Vietnam,
most volunteering organizations are always lacked of money and are forced to raise for people’s
help while governments do not care much about this amazing social value.
However, I personally agree that as long as the economy of a country continuously improves, the
social values can not be lost. It is because financial developments allow nations to afford
investing in things that serve society such as hospitals, schools and voluntary works
In conclusion, while there are both good and bad points exists, I personally believe that the
benefits of this phenomenon outweigh the drawbacks.
