ANTHROPOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS

Head circumference
• - 34 to 35 cm (13.5 - 14 in.)
• Head circumference is measured with a tape measure drawn across the
center of the forehead and then around the most prominent portion of the posterior
head
• A mature newborn with a head circumference greater than 37 cm (14.8
in.) or less than 33 cm (13.2in) should be carefully assessed for neurologic
involvement, although some well newborns have these measurements.

Weight -12.5 to 3.4 kg


Average weight:
Mature females: 3.4 kg (7.5 Ib) Mature males: 3.5 kg (7.7 lb)

Chest circumference - 32 to 33 cm
• Chest circumference is measured at the level of the nipples.
• Chest circumference in a term newborn is about 2 cm (0.75 to 1 in) less
than the head circumference

Abdominal Circumference: 31-33cm

Length - 46 to 54 cm
Average length:
Female: 49 cm (19.2 in.)
Male: 50 cm (19.6 in.)

Temperature: 97.6 to 98.6°F


99°F (37.2°C) at birth by rectal to check for the patency (banggag) in the rectum
Respiratory rate :30-60 bpm

Crede’s prophylaxis - erythromycin since ga agi man ang baby sa vagina especially
baby which has a mother of STI

• Vitamin K injection (0.1 ml ampule no need to inject air unlike vial)


Dosage: 0.5 to 1.0 mg IM
• Hepatitis B vaccineDosage
