The Ear
What do you hear? you may hear people talking. you may hear a car or the wind howling. Your ear helps
the sound. Just think for a minute, what if you couldn't hear. You couldn't hear a dog bark or hear your
friends talking to you. As you can see, your ears are important so, it is essential to look after them the
human ear is not just for hearing; it also help with balance. Sound is what gets to the ears and they are
measured in decibels. Ear experts saythay sound ove ninety decibels can damage the ear. That is why we
must avoid listening to loud music and staying in roudy and noise place.
The ear consist of many small but can be divided into three part, namely: the outer ear, middle ear and
inner ear. The outer ear is the part we can see including the ear canal. The ear canal is a pathway for all
the sound in the enviroment to enter. It channels sound waves and sends them to the eardrum. The
eardrum is a thin skin that is stretched tight like a drum and vibrates when sound hits it. They are
sensitive and rigid.
The middle ear is a small space outside the ear drum. It is a small space filled with air inside your ear
drum. This part of the ear has three tiny bones called the hammer, anvil and stirrup, these bones are
used to move sound wave to the cochlea. The Cochlea is a small space of the ear that looks like a shell.
The Cochlea takes the vibration from the middle ear and send it to the brain. The brain interpret the
sound and send them to you. The inner ear has fluid which help to maintain balance.
We can take care of the ear by not sticking anything inside the ear, not playing music with too much
volume because it can damage the ear.
