AN ORDINANCE TO STANDARDIZE ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL GATES IN THE CITY


OF BAGUIO AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

1 WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 7160 otherwise known as the Local Government
2 Code empowers local governments to exercise jurisdiction in improving its local
3 schools;

5 WHEREAS, in the City of Baguio, there is no existing standards in the
6 construction and design of their public school gates;
7
8 WHEREAS, there is a need for a standard design for all public school gates to
9 give Baguio public schools a unified identity and character, being an education city
10 and center;

12 NOW THEREFORE:

14 BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE 1ST UC MODEL SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD, IN
15 REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED:

17 SECTION 1. Short Title – This ordinance shall be known as the “Baguio Public
18 School Gate Ordinance.”

20 SECTION 2. Declaration of Policy – It is hereby declared as policy of the City
21 to unify the design and construction of all public school gates as a unified identity
22 and character of Baguio’s quality education and services.

24 SECTION 3. Project Planning – The City Building and Architecture Office is
25 hereby mandated to conduct a study to come up with a standard design, in
26 consultation with pertinent stakeholders, of all the public school gates that is distinct
27 to the identity and character of the City of Baguio.

29 The City Engineering Office is hereby mandated to undertake the necessary
30 planning and costing for the construction of said gates.

32 Copies of said plans and cost estimates shall be submitted to the Office of the City
33 Mayor, Office of the City Budget Officer, and the Office of the City Treasurer.

35 SECTION 4. Budget – After receipt of said plans and cost estimates, the City
36 Budget Officer shall allocate from the existing infrastructure or other budget of the
37 City the amount necessary therefore or include the costs therefore in the City’s
38 annual or supplemental budgetary appropriations for the year immediately
39 succeeding the date of approval of this ordinance.

41 SECTION 5. Implementation – the City Engineer, shall immediately, thereafter,
42 effect the construction of the public school gates in accordance with the existing
43 rules and regulations.

45 SECTION 6. Effectivity – This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
46 approval.
