Multideck 50
Introduction

Welcome to the Kingspan Multideck 50 floordeck

handbook. Multideck is a high performance
profiled galvanised steel deck for use in the
construction of composite floor slabs. This
publication contains complete technical
information on the following products produced
by Kingspan Building Products.

● Multideck 50 Profiled Metal Floordeck

FEATURES
● Four gauges available.

● No temporary supports required under most

conditions.

● Easy installation of ceilings and services.

● High loading and spaning performance.

IDENTIFICATION

Multideck 50 is a high performance profiled

galvanised steel deck for use in the construction
of composite floor slabs. Initially acting as
permanent shuttering into which wet concrete is
poured, Multideck ultimately forms a composite
floor slab with the hardened concrete.

The composite action of the floor slabs depends

upon the generation of a mechanical bond
between the harden concrete and the deck
preventing any relative movement between the
two materials.

Multideck 50 has embossment in all faces of the

‘dovetail’ to provide an enhanced bond.

The bond between the multideck 50 and the

harden concrete allows the deck to provide the
tensile reinforcement for the finished floor slab.

TECHNICAL ADVICE

Kingspan Building Products resident engineers

offer a comprehensive technical advisory service
to specifiers and users of Multideck including
preparation of design information and full
calculations free of charge. Contact the Kingspan
Multideck Technical Department on 042 9698500
or fax 042 9698583.

CONCRETE

All concrete used with Multideck in the

construction of composite slabs should comply
with the recommendations in BS 8110: 1985.

REINFORCEMENT

All reinforcement for anti-crack and fire

engineering should comply with the following
standards.

Steel reinforcement bars (plain and deformed) to

BS 4449. Steel fabric reinforcement to BS 4483.

CONSTRUCTION LOADING

A value of 1.5kN/m2 for temporary construction

loading is included in the calculations. Other
construction loading is accommodated in the use
of the software.

Heaping of wet concrete must be strictly avoided.

If temporary construction loads are likely to
exceed 1.5kN/m2, use the Multideck 50 design
software or contact Kingspan Building Products
Technical Services Department.
