Tactical Periodization in Football Training

Tactical Periodization is a training methodology focused on the game model a team aims to execute during competition, emphasizing the importance of specific principles and interactions within the game. It views football as a complex system where all elements interact dynamically, requiring continuous adaptation and evolution of the game model. The approach advocates for a holistic understanding of the athlete, considering various structures and their interactions to optimize training and performance.

Tactical Periodization is a training methodology where the main

concern is the “play” that a team intends to produce in the
competition (Xavier Tamarit). That is why the game model takes on
great importance and is the guide for the entire process. Having a
modeling through principles, sub principles and sub principles of the
game that form it, achieving a specific and high quality adaptation if
the methodological principles that support it are respected.
Systems Thinking. The Game as a complex
phenomenon

Football is seen as a system. In turn, a system is a set of

elements or parts that interact with each other in order to
achieve a specific objective.

All its elements interact and provide feedback in a dynamic and

unpredictable way; any change affects the system.
It must have a common objective to be considered as a system.
A set of idealized behaviors that the team is expected to perform
during a match within all the dimensions that football presents.
Tactical, technical, psychological, physical, emotional and social.
This game model is unique, unfinished, unrepeatable and constantly
evolving.

Specificity becomes the backbone of the

entire model.
The game model is always being trained.
Does not support decontextualized tasks.
And as a central axis, above all, is the MDJ.

OPTIMIZATION"

SELF-STRUCTURING IS ACHIEVED BY:

- THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TECHNICAL-TACTICAL SKILLS IN WHICH THE PLAYER SHOWS CERTAIN
COMPETENCE.
OBSERVING THE IMPACT THAT THE COMPETITION HAS ON THE PLAYER.
- THE CONSTANT ACQUISITION OF NEW KNOWLEDGE BY THE PLAYER ABOUT THE GAME, TRAINING,
AND HIMSELF.
- THE FORMATION OF ONE'S OWN SOCIAL IMAGE.
- ACHIEVING PLAYER KNOWLEDGE DURING PRACTICE BY MEANS OF APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY

Each structure must be considered as the manifestation of underlying processes.
• That is to say, the processes, a whole network of dynamic relationships between systems, are
manifested through what we call structures.
• And what we traditionally call capabilities are nothing more than forms of sectoral evaluation of
the processes that occur in some system that configure a certain Structure.

1. THIS SYSTEMIC AND HOLISTIC CONCEPT OF THE PLAYER WILL GIVE US INDICATIONS ABOUT THE CONDITIONS IN
WHICH THE ATHLETE MUST DEVELOP HIS TRAINING ACTIVITY TO OBTAIN HIS DIFFERENTIATED SELF-STRUCTURING.
IN THIS WAY, THE CONTENTS OF STRUCTURED TRAINING APPEAR, UNDERSTANDING THAT ALTHOUGH IT CAN ALSO
CONTRIBUTE NEW ELEMENTS TO "INDIVIDUAL" SPORTS, IT IS MUCH MORE SUITABLE FOR "TEAM" SPORTS WHERE
THE PRESENCE OF OBJECTS - COMPANIONS - OPPONENTS IN CONTINUOUS INTERACTION DEMANDS HIGH LEVELS OF
SELF-STRUCTURING FROM ALL ITS COMPONENTS.

CONTENTS OF Al TA VARIATION

HIGH VARIABILITY PRACTICES

FROM THE NEW PARADIGM, TEACHING AND TRAINING IS A 'SINGLE FACT' OF PROCESS

OPTIMIZATION THAT WILL MANIFEST AS PROPERTIES OF EACH STRUCTURE THAT WE

HAVE MENTIONED. SINCE THESE PROPERTIES CAN ONLY BE ATTENDED:

- FROM THE DYNAMIC INTERACTIVITY OF THE SYSTEMS SET

- FOR THE GLOBAL CONSISTENCY OF THEIR INTERACTIONS...

WE MUST BUILD EXERCISES THAT ARE IDENTICAL TO STRUCTURED TRAINING,

WHICH PROVIDE THIS DYNAMIC INTERACTIVITY AND CONSISTENCY, ISSUES

THAT ARE NOT MET BY THE REPETITIVE AND ANALYTICAL EXERCISES OF

INDIVIDUAL SPORTS TRAINING BASED ON OTHER THEORIES.

2. ONE OF THE ESSENTIAL PROPERTIES OF ALL MANIFESTATIONS OF LIFE IS THE IRREDUCIBLE

TENDENCY TO BUILD MULTILEVEL STRUCTURES OF SYSTEMS, WITHIN SYSTEMS.

THESE STRUCTURES ARE THE CONSEQUENCE OF VARIOUS INTERACTIVE PROCESSES

BETWEEN SYSTEMS OF DIFFERENTIATED COMPLEXITY, WHICH ARE CONFIGURED IN THE FORM

OF NETWORKS WHERE - NOTHING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.

IT TRIGGERS THE NEED TO MODIFY THE LAWS OF TRADITIONAL TRAINING, GIVEN THAT

SYNERGETIC RELATIONSHIPS ARE MORE USED THAN THE PROGRESSIVITY OF LOADS AND

PROGRAMMING IN SEQUENCES IS REPLACED BY DIFFERENTIATED PRIORITIZATION. MANY

OTHER PRINCIPLES BASED ON THE HIERARCHICAL AND LINEAR CONCEPT SHOULD BE

REPLACED BY MULTILEVEL GUIDELINES

3. WE KNOW THAT THE FUNCTION OF THE COMPONENTS OF THESE NETWORKS IS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PRODUCTION

OR TRANSFORMATION OF THE OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE NETWORK. IN THIS WAY THE ENTIRE NETWORK MAKES

ITSELF. THIS CAUSES THE PRODUCT OF THE PROCESSES TO BE THE ORGANIZATION ITSELF, THE DIFFERENTIATED

SELF-ORGANIZATION; BASED ON QUALITATIVE PRODUCTION PROCESSES THAT MAKE EACH BEING UNIQUE.
