Section A (40 marks)
Question 1
a) Let the marks of Rohit, Ajay and Vipul be 4x, 5x and 6x respectively.
Given that Ajay's marks = 75
⇒5x = 75
75
x 15 marks
5
∴ Marks of Rohit = 4x = 4 × 15 = 60 marks
Marks of Vipul = 6x = 6 × 15 = 90 marks.

b) i) 4x2 + 3x + y and 5x – 3y
= (4x2 + 3x + y) + (5x – 3y)
= 4x2 + 3x + y + 5x – 3y
= 4x2 + 3x + 5x + y – 3y
= 4x2 + 8x – 2y
ii) 9a2 + 4b – 4c and −5a2 – 5b
= (9a2 + 4b – 4c) + (−5a2 – 5b)
= 9a2 + 4b – 4c − 5a2 – 5b
= 9a2 − 5a2 + 4b – 5b – 4c
= 4a2 − b – 4c
c) The given figure is a rectangle with sides 12 cm (4 cm + 4 cm + 4 cm) and 8
cm respectively.
The shaded region can be divided into 2 smaller rectangles and 1 right
triangle.
The area of 1st rectangle = 4 × 8 = 32 cm2
The area of 2nd rectangle = 4 × 6 = 24 cm2
1
The area of the triangle = 2 4 = 4 cm2
2
Total area of the shaded region = (32 + 24 + 4) cm2 = 60 cm2

a) Cake left on day 1 = 1
6 6 6

b) Total monthly expenditure = Rs. 15000
25
Amount spent on rent = 15000 Rs.3750
100
40
Amount spent on food and groceries = 15000 Rs.6000
100
5
Amount spent on travelling = 15000 Rs.750
100
5
Amount spent on entertainment = 15000 Rs.750
100
Now, amount spent on education = 15000 – (3750 + 6000 + 750 + 750)
= 15000 – 11250
= Rs. 3750
c) m∠1 + 105° = 180° (linear pair)
m∠1 = 180 – 105 = 75°
And, x = m∠ 1 = 75° (corresponding angles)
Question 4
a) Let the population of the town a year ago be x.
Then, its present population = 106% of x which is given as 17,490
106
x 17490
100
53x
17490
50
17490 50
x 16500

Hence, the population of the town a year ago was 16500.

c) Let the angles be 2x, 3x and 5x.
2x + 3x + 5x = 180° (sum of angles of a triangle = 180°)
10x = 180°
180
x= 18
10
Thus, we have
2x = 2 × 18 = 36°
3x = 3 × 18 = 54°
5x = 5 × 18 = 90°
Hence, the angles are 36°, 54° and 90°.
Section B (40 marks)
Question 5
a) i. M = {3, 6, 9, 12, 15}
ii. V = {I, O}
b) Perimeter = (5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5) cm = 40 cm
c) Total score of 1st team = 360
Total members of 1st team = 8
360
Average score of 1st team = 45
8
Total score of 2nd team = 322
Total members of 2nd team = 7
322
Average score of 2nd team = 46
7
Since the average score of the 2nd team is more than the average score of the
1st team, the 1st team scored better.
d) Cost of 1 L milk = Rs. 22.50
Cost of 40.3 L of milk = 40.3 × 22.50 = 906.75
Thus, the cost of 40.3 L of milk is Rs.906.75.
Question 6
a) i) (−48) × 24 × (−10) + 100
= −1152 × (−10) + 100
= 11520 + 100
= 11620
ii) (−56) + 27 – 45 – 17 + 19
= −29 – 45 – 17 + 19
= − 74 – 17 + 19
= −91 + 19

x = {−2, −3, −4, …..}
d) Given, AD bisects ∠A and AD ⊥ BC
In ΔADB and ΔADC,
AD = AD (common side)
∠BAD = ∠CAD (bisected angles)
∠ADB = ∠ADC (90° as AD ⊥ BC)
Thus, by ASA test for congruence, ΔADB ≅ ΔADC.
Question 8
a) Weight of a person on Earth = 60 kg
Weight of a person on the Moon = 9.9 kg
Weight of a person on Jupiter = 141.8 kg
If, weight of a person on Earth = 75 kg
75 9.9
Then, weight of a person on the Moon = 12.375 12.4
60
75 141.8
And weight of a person on Jupiter = 177.25 177.3
60
b) Sum of interior angles of a polygon = (n – 2) × 180°
i) Sum of angles of a polygon with 12 sides
= (12 – 2) × 180°
= 10 × 180°
= 1800°
ii) Sum of angles of a polygon with 25 sides
= (25 – 2) × 180°
= 23 × 180
= 4140°
c) O is the centre of the circle. AB passes through O, hence AB is the diameter.
m∠BCA = 90° (angle in a semi-circle)
In ΔABC,
m∠ABC + m∠BCA + m∠CAB = 180°
m∠ABC + 90° + 35° = 180°
m∠ABC + 125° = 180°
m∠ABC =180° − 125°
m∠ABC = 55°
Question 9
a) Complementary angle for angle measuring 39° = (90 – 39)° = 51°
Supplementary angle for angle measuring 39° = (180 – 39)° = 141°
b) Ratio of the ages of the two brothers = 3 : 2
Elder brother’s age = 21 years
Let the younger brother’s age be x years.
Then, we have
3 : 2 :: 21 : x
3x = 2 × 21
3x = 42
x = 42 ÷ 3
x = 14
Hence, the younger brother is 14 years old.
Elder brother’s age after 7 years = 21 + 7 = 28 years and
Younger brother’s age = 14 + 7 = 21 years
Thus, ratio after 7 years = 28 : 21 = 4 : 3
c) The co-ordinates reflected on the y-axis will be
i) A(3, 6) (−3, 6)
ii) B(−4, 8) = (4, 8)
iii) C(4, −7) = (−4, −7)
