Letchow is a typical ...................... dish, however, there are some similar dishes in
different nation’s cuisine, for example in French cuisine it is called ................... and

it ............... and they serve it with sunny-side-up eggs and I can enumerate a great
number of variation of this dish in many other nation’s cuisine.

Letchow plays an important part in the Hungarian gastronomy. It can be varied by


adding a wide range of …………… such as sausage.

It can be used as the basis of sevaral Hungarian dishes, namely, ………….. Hungarian
goulash soup and so on.

The recipe is easy to prepare and it provides for 4-6 servings.

2 large red onions


3 red peppers,
450 gr. fresh tomatoes or one tin of peeled plum tomatoes
Lard, diced
1 tablespoon sweet paprika
Salt to taste
3. Put the preparation of the pancake in the right order. Video: Gundel pancake.

a. Fill and roll them.


b. Pour 1 ladle dough in the pan, do circular motions with your hand so the
dough covers the whole pan. Hungarian pancakes are very thin.
c. Find a heavy pan, sprinkle with oil and heat it. Pan's diameter is about 18-20 cm.
d. Put the flour, eggs, oil, salt, sugar and milk into a bowl. Stir them with mixer until
smooth.
e. Add the sodawater and mix them again. The dough should be liquid.
f. Bake the pancake about 1-2 minutes, turn it around to other side and bake that 1-2
minutes again. Put the pancake on a plate and bake an other one step by step

4. The preparation of Chicken paprika is jumbled up. Put the sentences into correct
order.

1. Add the stock and stir. Return the chicken pieces to the pan, adding a bit more
stock if the mixtures seems too dry.
2. Add half of the chopped parsley and bring to the boil. Add the red pepper strips,
reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
3. Rub the chicken pieces with the salt. Heat the oil and butter in a large heavy-
bottomed pan and brown the chicken all over for a few minutes. Remove the
chicken from the pan and set to one side.
4. When the chicken is cooked, remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the sour cream
and the remaining parsley. Check the seasoning and serve.
5. To the same pan, add the onions and garlic and sweat for about five minutes. Add
the sweet and hot paprika, then the flour, and stir until combined - take care not to
burn it.
6. Stir in the tomatoes and simmer gently for about one hour.
