DARLIGTON PAIR AMPLIFIER

Aim: To determine the frequency response of Darlington pair amplifier and its input
and output impedances.
Apparatus: Circuit board, CRO (0-30MHz), BNC adaptors, Connecting wires, Signal
generator (0-3MHz), Regulated power Supply (0-30V).
VCC=+10V
Circuit Diagram:

Generator Vi R2
VS 1MΩ V0
10µF 10KΩ
1KΩ

Procedure:
1. Connect the circuit as per circuit shown above.
2. Give the supply VCC=+10V.
3. Apply the signal to the input of the circuit from the signal generator
and connect the output to CRO and observe the input and output
waveforms.
4. Note down VI, VO for different frequencies from 100 Hz to 1MHz and
in steps and tabulate them.
5. Plot the graph between the Frequency and Gain on semi log graph.
6. Set the input signal frequency at mid band and calculate the input and
output resistances using the following formulae.

R1= * RS ; RO= * RL

Expected Graph:

20 log AV (dB)

0dB

Frequency (Hz)
Tabular Column:

Frequency Vi VO AV=VO/Vi Gain in dB=

(Hz) (Volts) (Volts) 20logAv

Calculations:

Input Resistance Calculations:

VS= Source Voltage
Vi= Input Voltage measured between base and ground

Input resistance Ri = * RS

RS= 100KΩ
Output Resistance Calculations:
VNL= Output measured without load
VFL= Output voltage with load

Output resistance, RO= * RL

RL= 10K
