2. Release Highlights
The following is a list of the most important changes and updates in this release:

2.1 Third release (June 18, 2009)

• Windows: new artwork for the “rotation”, “dominant” and “pan zoom” icons in the
“Function Keys” applet (SpacePilot PRO only);
• Windows: correction of a long standing issue (ref# 4704) in the SolidWorks add-in
button mapping feature. The methods to retrieve and activate application commands
have been completely rewritten. The following are the most significant consequences of
these changes:
o Most of the command names and categories listed on the add-in’s Button
Mapping panel have changed. The new command naming and category
structure is a better but not exact match of the application menu;
o Not all previously available commands are now listed on the Button Mapping
panel. Conversely, previously unavailable commands can now be mapped to
any programmable device button;
o Upgrading over an installation of 3DxSoftware v. 3.7.12 or earlier will cause the
SolidWorks add-in button settings to be reset to default. A warning is displayed
when upgrading if SolidWorks is installed on the system.
• Windows: stability improvements to the plug-ins for Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk
Inventor, and Siemens PLM NX (NX4 only).

2.2 Second release (May 6, 2009)

• Windows: support Autodesk AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD 2010 -based applications;
• Windows: support Autodesk 3ds Max 2010;
• Windows (SpacePilot PRO only): new “Picture Viewer” applet;
• Windows: stability improvements to the plug-ins of Autodesk AutoCAD, Siemens PLM
Solid Edge;
• Linux: stability improvements to Linux driver software (3DxWareUNIX);
• Note: first public update (web download).

2.3 First release (March 6, 2009)

• Windows and UNIX/Linux: new product support for SpacePilot PRO;
• Windows: support for Adobe Photoshop CS4 x64 Edition (in addition to the already
available 32-bit application edition);
• Windows: stability improvements in driver and plug-in software;
• Note: release available as CD-ROM only.

3.4 Changes to 3DxSoftware

Below is a breakdown of the changes implemented in this 3DxSoftware version. These changes
are listed under the individual components that make up the 3DxSoftware suite. If an application
is not listed here, it does not mean that the application does not include support for 3D mice, as
many applications are supported natively by the software vendor. However, if an application
supports 3D mice, you will still need to download and install 3DxSoftware in order to install the
hardware driver (3DxWare).
