The given line graph provides data of a 2008 report on the usage of energy in
the United States, from 1980 with projections till 2030. The unit is measured in
quadrillion.
Overall, in the given period of time, Petrol and Oil showed a steady increase,
while coal and natural gas climbed up, overlapping each other whereas, Nuclear,
solar, wind and hydropower remained relatively the same at the lowest.
In 1980, petrol and oil started at 35 quadrillion units, had some minor fluctuation
till 1995, after which had a dramatical increase, and is estimated to reach to
around 50 quadrillion units by 2030. In the same way, energy consumed by coal
and natural gas was around 15 and 20 quadrillion units respectively, but their
usage was increased gradually till 2015 to roughly around 25 quadrillion units.
Coal is predicted to grow even more and reach roughly 30 quadrillion units while
natural gas will remain at the same level.
On the other hand, in the given time frame, the least amount of energy
consumed was by nuclear, solar, wind and water at under 5 quadrillion units, in
1980. However, Nuclear energy slightly grew to just over 5 quadrillion and
expected to remain the same till 2030. On the contrary, solar or wind and
hydropower had some minor oscillations till 2005, but the former climbed a little
and is predicted to reach 5 quadrillion units, while the latter at under 5
quadrillion units.
