Item Specification
Work Name: M&R to WSS at Wagle and Thane Complex.....Providing services , manpower,
machinery & material for attending leakages on MS/DI/CI pipe lines.
Sub Estimate: Supply of labour & Machinery.
1 Attending leakages on under ground water supply pipelines on job basis including tracing out
leakages, cleaning of site, excavation, necessary back filling and other allied works etc. complete
during shutdown/ breakdown or as and when required. The item includes wages of labour,
transportation, insurance, taxes, duties, etc complete.(Rates excluding GST)
Specification:
The item includes providing services for tracing out and attending leakages on water supply pipe
lines laid underground which includes engaging of unskilled & skilled labour for cleaning of site,
excavation in soil, murum, soft/ hard rock, and back filling the pits, trenches etc. complete at the
location of breakdown as and when required as per the instructions of Engineer in charge.
All safety measures including providing shoes, gloves, helmet, masks etc. to labour, barricading
site of work shall be taken by the contractor to avoid any injury/ hazard to the labour at site of work
as well as any third person using the road. A register shall be maintained by the contractor as per
the format approved by MIDC to record details of work carried out. The work shall be carried out at
the risk of contractor. The contractor shall be held responsible for any injury to lives or damages to
property occur during execution of item. No compensation or claims in this regard shall be
entertained by MIDC.
Necessary tools viz. Fawrah, Ghamela pickaxe etc. required for excavation shall be provided by
the contractor. The item includes labour wages, equipment, insurance, taxes, duties, transportation
etc complete. The work shall be carried out in least possible time period. Any machinery engaged
viz. JCB, breaker, tools and plants, material used for attending leakages viz. pipes, specials,
welding roads, shall be paid separately through other items in this tender agreement.
Mode of Measurement: - The contract rate shall be per No basis for tracing out & attending
leakages.
2 Providing machinery at the site of work for water supply maintenance work during shut down/

Specification:
The item includes providing machinery on hire basis at the location of breakdown/ shut down as
and when required as per the instructions of Engineer in charge. All safety measures including
barricading site of work, providing safety equipment viz. shoes, gloves, helmet, masks etc. to
operators, drivers, and cleaners shall be taken by the contractor to avoid any injury/ hazard to the
labour at site of work as well as any third person using the road.
A register shall be maintained by the contractor as per the format approved by MIDC for machinery
provided by the contractor which will be signed by the contractor and Engineer - in Charge. The
machinery shall be provided at the risk of contractor. The contractor shall be held responsible for
any kind of accident/ injury/ damages occur to human life or property during execution of work. No
compensation or claims in this regard shall be entertained by MIDC.
The hire charges include providing machinery at the site of work, diesel, petrol, wages to the
operators, drivers, cleaners, helpers, insurance, taxes, duties, transportation etc complete.
Mode of Measurement & payment: - The contract rate shall on day (of 8 hrs.) basis for item No.
2.4. 2.8.1 & 2.81.2. For all other items contract rate shall be on per Hour basis actually machinery
engaged on site. Idle hours will not be measured/ paid. The time required for machinery to reach at
the site of work and back will not be measured and paid under any circumstances.
3 Providing labour at the site of work for water supply maintenance work during shut down/
break down or as and when reqiured as per directions of Engineer - in - charge etc. complete
(Rates excluding GST)

Specification:
The item includes providing unskilled & skilled labour at the location of breakdown/ shut down as
and when required as per the instructions of Engineer in charge for carrying out excavation, de-
watering, barricading, traffic diversion, cutting, welding, plumbing etc.
Necessary tools viz. Fawrah, Ghamela pickaxe etc. required for excavation shall be provided by
the contractor. All safety measures including providing safety equipment viz. shoes, gloves,
helmet, masks etc. to labour shall be taken by the contractor to avoid any injury/ hazard to the
labour at site of work as well as any third person using the road. A register shall be maintained by
the contractor as per the format approved by MIDC to record details of work carried out by the
labour.
The supply of labour shall be at the risk of contractor. The contractor shall be held responsible for
any kind of injury to lives or damages to property which might occur during execution. No
compensation or claims in this regard shall be entertained by MIDC. The item includes labour
wages, equipment, insurance, taxes, duties, transportation etc complete.

Mode of Measurement: - The contract rate shall be per man-day of 8 Hours.
4 Providing and laying in position plain cement concrete using granite or black trap graded metal
including mixing in a mechanically operated mixer, dewatering, compacting, curing as required
complete for all lifts up to a +/- 5 m. above or below the ground level where concrete is proposed,
including centering/shuttering using ordinary Portland cement. ( Rates excluding GST)
4.1 With Natural Sand
4.1.1 In [Link] proportion.
Specification:
4.1 General : The item pertains to providing and laying in position Plain Cement Concrete (PCC) of
specified proportion. The work includes providing all material, mixing, compacting, curing,
shuttering, dewatering etc. complete up to lift of ± 5 m.
4.2 Material:
1. Cement : Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) as specified at item Gen/C/0.2.1. of Std.
Specification Book of MIDC.
2. Fine Aggregate (Sand) : specifications shall conform to item Gen/C/0.2.2. of Std. Specification
Book of MIDC.
3. Coarse Aggregate : specifications shall conform to item Gen/C/0.2.3. of Std. Specification Book
of MIDC. Grading and maximum size of coarse aggregate shall be as specified in the drawing.
Normally the maximum size should not be more than 40 mm or 25 % of the minimum dimension of
the member, whichever is less.
4. Water : specifications shall conform to item Gen/C/[Link] Std. Specification Book of MIDC.
4.3 Mix Proportion and Mixing : The mix proportion as specified on the drawing, separately for
each component shall be provided. For detailed specifications refer to item [Link]/C/[Link] Std.
Specification Book of MIDC. For mixing without mechanical mixer, prior permission from the
Engineer-in-charge shall be obtained. Specifications for mixing shall conform to item Gen/C/[Link]
Std. Specification Book of MIDC.
4.4 Formwork and Scaffolding : Formwork shall be provided for giving the desired shape and sizes
for the PCC as per the drawings. The specifications shall conform to item Gen/C/[Link] Std.
Specification Book of MIDC.
The striping time also shall be as specified in the item. The scaffolding shall be normally provided
of steel tubes. The specifications for scaffolding also shall conform to item Gen/C/0.19.8. of Std.
Specification Book of MIDC.
4.5 Transportation, Placing and Compaction : Specifications shall conform to item Gen/C/[Link]
Std. Specification Book of MIDC.
4.6 Field Tests : The appropriate field tests as directed by the Engineer-in- charge shall be carried
out as explained in item Gen/C/[Link] Std. Specification Book of MIDC.
4.7 Inspection & Testing of Structure : As per the contract conditions inspection & testing of a
structure shall be carried out in accordance with item Gen/C/0.16 of Std. Specification Book of
MIDC.

4.8 Finishing of Concrete : The finishing of concrete surface shall be as per item Gen/C/0.17 of
Std. Specification Book of MIDC.
4.9 Special Features : Special requirements such as Architectural shapes/ finishes, Expansion
joints, Construction joints, Water stops, grouting, etc. shall be provided as shown on drawing/s and
as directed by Engineer in Charge. For specifications for these the appropriate clauses of item
Gen/C/0 of Std. Specification Book of MIDC. shall be referred.
4.10 Curing : As per item Gen/C/0.14 of Std. Specification Book of MIDC. .
4.11 Item to Include : This item for providing Plain Cement Concrete (PCC) with specified mix
proportion at specified locations with initial lift of + 5 m above or below ground level includes all
ingredients of concrete i.e. water, cement, fine and coarse aggregates, all transportation,
dewatering, tools and plants, all taxes, royalties, labour, formwork, testing, curing etc. complete.
Mode of Measurement and Payment : The measurements of the concrete laid shall be taken on
volumetric basis in cum. The openings shall be deducted. The unit rate of concrete per cum of
specified proportion includes all the items as explained in Gen/C/0.25 of Std. Specification Book of
MIDC.

Specification:
1.1 General : The item pertains to providing Medium class, galvanised iron pipes and specials of
specified diameter, with screw and spigot joints, for external works with GI fittings.
1.2 Materials : The galvanised iron pipes and specials shall be of the class and diameter nominal
bore specified and shall conform to IS:1239-1982. The pipes and fitting of which the galvanised
has been damaged shall supplied.
1.7 Mode of Measurement and Payment: The length shall be measured net on the straight and
bends along the centre line of the pipes and fittings correct upto a cm.
The contract rate shall be for one metre of specified class and diameter of pipe supplied under Sub
Items under No. 1.1 and per No. of specified class and diameter of special supplied under Sub
Item No. 1.2
2 Providing at departmental stores or work site CI mechanical compression collar coupling (C.I.
jiffy collar coupling) confirming to IS 1536/2001 on quality of casting & IS: 5382 - 1985 for sealing

Specification:
2.1 General : The item provides to supply at departmental store the Cast Iron jiffy collar coupling
with rings etc. complete as per the specified diameter of pipe / pipes. (Dia. between 80 mm & 400
mm). The joints shall conform the provisions of IS: 1538-1993, 1536 / 2001 and IS 5382-1985.
2.2 Material : All Cast iron specials such as C.I. mechanical compression collar coupling shall
confirm to I.S. 1538-1993, 1536 / 2001 (Part 1 to 24). The Supply at departmental stores shall be
of various diameters as specified in supply order. The specials shall be free from any defects. It
should be possible to cut it drill the special to suit the site condition and fit in position etc. The
hardness of the external surface shall not exceed 210
HBS. Sealing Rings shall confirm to IS 5382-1985. Ring shall be homogeneous and free from
porosity, grit and surface defects, such as pitting, irregularities. Dimension of rings shall be as per
IS 10292-
1988.
5.3 Manufacture : Generally as per item WS/B/2.3. The dimensions of jiffy collar coupling shall be
as per 1538-1993, 1536 / 2001 .
5.4 Supply and Stacking at Departmental Store : Specified under agreement.
5.5 Testing : The fittings shall be tested for:

1. Tensile Test : Minimum Tensile strength of 150 MPa.
2. Brinell Hardness Test : shall not exceed 210 HBS.
3. Hydrostatic Test : As per IS: 1538-1993, 1536 / 2001 , which shall be:
For Dia. upto and including 300 mm - 2.5 MPa. Dia over 300 mm & up to & include 600 mm - 2.0
MPa.
Dia over 600 mm - 1.5 MPa.
5.6 Markings : Each fitting shall have cast stamped or indelibly painted on it the following markings:
1. Manufacturer’s Name or trademark or identification mark.
2. The nominal diameter,
3. Mass of fitting,
4. Last 2 digits of year of manufacture,
5. Any other mark required by the purchaser.
5.7 Item to Include : The item includes the supply of Cast Iron jiffy collar coupling, including all
taxes, levies, transporting, loading, unloading and stacking at departmental store or work site as
directed. The necessary test certificate also shall be provided along with the supply.
5.8 Mode of Measurement and Payment : The item shall be measured as numbers of collar
couplings for the specified diameter of pipe. The measurement and payment shall be per No.

of C.I. pipes including cost of rubber sealing gasket (IS:5382- 1985) and nut bolts. coated or

Specification:
3.1 General : The items provides to jiffy patch clamp joints to be used for instantaneous repair of
.CI. pipe including cost of rubber sealing gaskets as per I.S. 5382 / 1985 nut bolts etc. complete,
as per specified diameter of pipe.
3.2 Material : All Cast iron specials such as C.I. jiffy patch clamp joint shall confirm to I.S. 1538-
1993 (Part 1 to 24). The Supply at departmental stores shall be of various diameters as specified.

The specials shall be free from any defects. It should be possible to cut/drill the special to suit site
conditions to fit in the position etc. The hardness of the external surface shall not exceed 210 HBS.
3.3 Manufacture : The dimensions of sockets, flanges, drilling holes and nut & bolts shall be as per
Tables 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 of IS 1538-1993.
3.4 Supply and Stacking at Departmental Store : As specified under agreement.
3.5 Testing : The fittings shall be tested for :

3.8 Mode of Measurement and Payment : The item shall be measured as number of sets for the
specified diameter of pipe. The measurement and payment shall be made per set.

(without hand wheel), including bypass arrangements and spur / worm gear arrangements as per
test pressure and working pressure as below with Chrome Steel Spindle :(Rates to include cost of

Specification:
4.1 The item provides for supplying, fixing in position and jointing C.I.
Sluice Valves, Class-I type both end flanged (without hand wheel). The Sluice valves are
designated according to Nominal Pressures ( PN ) for the maximum working pressure in MPa. The
designated pressures and the nominal sizes of valve recommended and the respective Indian
Standards, to be used in the water works are as under:
A] PN-0.6 (Suitable for working pressure of 6 kg/cm2)
Conforming to I.S. 2906-1969 for 350 to 900 mm dia. B] PN-1.0 (Suitable for working pressure of
10 kg/cm2)

4.2 Material : Sluice Valves
The material for different components of sluice valves shall be according to Table No.1 of
respective IS codes referred above.
4.3 Manufacturing : The sluice valves are used in a pipe line for controlling or stopping flow of
water. These shall be of specified size and class and shall be of inside non-raising screw type up
to 300mm size and raising or non-raising screw type above 300mm with either double flange. The
manufacturing shall in all respects comply with the Indian Standard Specifications IS : 780 for
valves up to and including 300 mm size and IS : 2906 for valves above 300 mm size.
The body, domes covers, wedge gate and stuffing box shall be of good quality cast iron, the
spindle of chrome steel, the nut and valve seats of leaded tin bronze. The bodies, spindles and
other parts shall be truly machined with surface smoothly finished. The area of the water-way of
the fittings shall be not less than the area equal to the nominal bore of the pipe.
Bypass arrangements for the sluice valves above 350 mm nominal sizes shall be provided
according to clause 6.14 of IS : 2906-1984.
4.4 Hydrostatic Tests :

Each valve shall be tested as described in the respective IS codes. The valve shall not show any
sign of leakage and/or sweating under test. The valve shall be tested for closed end and open end.
The stems shall also be tested for “flaw detection”.
4.5 Marking :
The sluice valve shall be marked with the following information in raised letters:
1. The manufacturer’s name or trade mark,
2. The designated Nominal Pressure,
3. The nominal size of the valve,
4. Serial Number,
5. The arrow to show the direction of turn for closing of the valve,
4.6 Transportation & Storage :
The valve shall be properly packed to protect all parts from damages and also from rusting. Valves
shall be stored near to the work site, in closed stores and protected against dust before it is
actually placed in the position and jointed.
4.7 Jointing :
Exact location of the Sluice valve shall be got approved from the Engineer-in-charge.
4.7.1 Cast iron pipes may be jointed by means of flanges cast on. The jointing material used
between flanges of pipe shall be compressed fibre board or rubber of thickness between 3.5 mm to
6 mm. The fibre board shall be impregnated with chemically neutral mineral oil and shall have a
smooth and hard surface. Its weight per m2 shall be not less than 112 gm/mm thicknesses.
4.7.2 Each bolt should be tightened a little at a time taking care to tighten diametrically opposite
bolts alternately. The practice of full tightening the bolts one after another shall not be allowed.
4.8 Item to include:
1. Supply of Sluice valve of designated class and nominal size, at the site of work, including
transporting and loading - unloading etc., manually or by engaging crane wherever required
without any additional cost.
2. Fixing in position and Jointing the valve in the pipe line at the exact location as per drawing or as
directed by the Engineer - in - charge including all nuts & bolts, packings, labour, tools and
equipments, including taxes & duties except octroi. Octroi will be reimbursed on production of
documentary evidence.

4.9 Mode of Measurement and Payment : The contract rate shall be for one number of valve of the
designated class and size and for supply and jointing etc. complete as specified, under.
a) On supply of Sluice Valve with all accessories - 80%
b) On Fixing and Jointing in position - 10%
c) On satisfactory testing on line - 10%
5 Providing at departmental stores SBR Rubber Gaskets for Tyton joints conforming to IS: 5382-
1985 and IS: 12820-1989 including all Taxes, duties etc. except octroi. (Rates excluding GST)
5.1 80 mm diameter

Specification:
5.1 The item includes to supply at departmental store, the Rubber Gaskets for Tyton joints for
various sizes as specified in the purchase order / tender and conforming to IS: 5382-1985 and IS:
12820-1989.
5.2 Material : The gaskets shall be made of properly vulcanized virgin rubber compound. The
rubber used in manufacturing of gaskets shall be free from extractable substances, which impart
test, odour and toxicity to water. In the composition of rings / gaskets the compounds of mercury,
antimony, manganese, lead or copper shall not be used. Six types of gaskets are recommended
by the IS corresponding to the hardness of rubber viz. 40,50, 60, 70, 80 & 88 IRHD. Unless other
wise specified the type 3 rings shall be supplied.
5.3 Finish : The surface of gasket shall be smooth, without pitting blisters, air marks, As per cl. 3.3
of IS : 5382-1985, which states “The rings shall be homogeneous, free from porosity, grit,
excessive blooms, blisters or other visible surface imperfections. The fins or flash shall be reduced
as much as possible”.
The dimensions and tolerances of the gaskets shall be in accordance with the IS: 10292-1988.
5.4 Testing : As specified in the IS: 5382-1985 the gaskets shall be tested for stretch test,
hardness, tensile strength and elongation at break, compression set, Accelerating ageing in air,
water immersion, water absorption, cold resistance and stress relaxation tests as specified in the
IS : 5382-1985 and respective parts of IS : 3400 shall be carried out.
5.5 Markings : Each gasket and packing shall be marked with :
1. Manufacturer’s Name or Trade Mark,
2. The size and class of gasket,
3. The month and year of manufacture,
4. Other mark specified by the purchaser.

5.6 Item to Include : The supply of Rubber Gaskets at the Departmental stores specified, as per
the purchase order / tender and according to the specifications, including the appropriate different
packing of the gaskets as per specifications, transportation upto the store, loading unloading,
stacking at the location as directed, all taxes, levies, etc. complete, excluding octroi, which shall be
reimbursed on producing documentary evidence for payment made.
5.7 Mode of Measurement & Payment : The Rubber Gaskets shall be measured in numbers for
each type and size separately and paid fully on supply at departmental stores or site of works and
on production of test/ performance certificate, as per the agreement.
6 Providing at departmental store or worksite MS Plates & Pig Lead required for day to day
maintenance of CI/ DI/ MS pipelines as per instructions of Engineer - in - charge with all kind of
duties including loading and unloading and transportation etc. complete but excluding GST.
6.1 M.S. Plate upto 12 mm. Thick

Specification:
6.1 General : The item pertains to providing M. S. plates and pig lead at the site of work or
Departmental Store.
6.2 Materials : The M. S. plates and pig lead shall be shall conform to relevant IS Code.
6.3 Mode of Measurement and Payment: contract rate shall be per Metric Tonne for M. S. Plates
and per Kg for Pig Lead supplied at the Departmental Store or Site of Work.
7 Providing at departmental store or worksite misc matrial required for day to day maintenance
of CI/ DI/ MS pipelines as per instructions of Engineer - in - charge with all kind of duties including
loading and unloading and transportation etc. complete but excluding GST.

Specification:
7.1 General : The item pertains to providing taps, nut-bolts, rubber packing of 6 mm thickness,
electric cable 3 core x 1.5 sq. mm, bulbs with holder.
7.2 Materials : The material shall conform to relevant IS Code & Standard Engineering practice
and of best quality in the market.
7.3 Mode of Measurement and Payment: The contract rate for rubber packing shall be on per
Kilogram basis and that for all other sub items on per No. basis
8 Providing at departmental store or worksite misc tools and plants required for day to day
maintenance of CI/ DI/ MS pipelines as per instructions of Engineer - in - charge with all kind of
