Dear children,
Please write the notes in your Biology copy. Do neat work and keep your copy ready
for correction.
A. Very short answer questions.
Ans 1. Fertilization
Ans 2. Drumstick seed
Ans 3. Reproduction is necessary for organism because it allows the similar
individual continue to exists from generation to generation.
Ans 4. Flower and Fruit
Ans 5. a) Reproduction occures asexually through vegitative propagation by
leaves.
b) Potatoes reproduce asexually through vegitative propagation. (by their
stems)
E. Short answer question: - (Type 1)
Ans 1. Leaves, Stems and Roots.
Ans 2. The plants which reproduce by spore formation are bread moulds, mushroom,
fungai etc..
Ans 3. The fertilization occures in the overy of the flower.
Ans 4. The process of transfer of pollen grains from the anthers to the stigma is
called pollination.
Ans 5. Yeast reproduced by asexual mode of reproduction called budding.
F. Short answer questionas: - (Type 2)
Ans 1. Different modes of asexual reproduction in plants are -
1. Budding – Yeast
2. Fragmentation - Spirogyra
3. Spore formation – Bread mould
4. Vegitative reproduction through leaves, roots, stems
Ans 2. Key terms.
Ans 3. Germination of seeds takes place under some favourable conditions.
Generally a seed have a plant embryo which is in a resting stage. For the growth, a
seed must get moisture and oxygen along with suitable temperature.
Ans 4.
Asexual reproduction Sexual reproduction
1.It is a type of reproduction in which 1. In this, two parents one male and one
only one parent is needed. female are required.
2. Off spring is genetically identical to 2. Off spring have a combination of
parent. inherited genes.
3. In plants asexual reproduction occures 3. in plants sexual reproduction occures
without seed. with seeds.
Ans 5.
It is the process of fusion of male and female ganetes. A liquid containing sugar is
secreted by the stigma of each flower. The pollen grains responds to this liquid and
produce a thin tube called the pollen tube. It carries the male cell (Pollen grains). It
grows until it reaches the ovule and enters into it. The zygote gets formed when the
male cell moves into the ovule and gets gets fused with the egg.
