characters and the lessons they imparted as the story unfolded.

Younger Kids:
Activity: C.H.R.I.S.T.M.A.S. Motions
Lead the kids to take action with each letter and ask what the word is. (CHRISTMAS!)

STORY PART 1: THE ANGEL GABRIEL VISITS MARY

Passage: Luke 1:26-38
(Note: Give a “Bible” sticker to kids who bring their Bibles.)

Setting the Scene:

Gather the kids around the table where you can visibly place the PAPER TOYS. You can use
props like a DIORAMA backdrop (see attached) to make it more creative and engaging!
Angel Gabriel’s Visit to Mary Story
(FAITH IN GOD AND HIS PLANS)

Instruct kids to open their Bibles to the passage and read it silently. After reading the Bible
passage, tell the Bible Story Summary below:

Introduction:
Once upon a time, a young woman named Mary lived in a small town called Nazareth.
Mary deeply loved God and was engaged to Joseph.
Place the Mary paper toy on the table.
Or you may pass it to the kids to hold briefly.

The Angel’s Visit:

One day, while Mary was at home, something extraordinary happened! Suddenly, a
bright light filled the room, and the Angel Gabriel appeared before her. Mary felt
startled and afraid.
Place the angel paper toy following Mary.
Express each emotion and scene with your voice.

Gabriel’s Message:
The angel smiled and said, “Don’t be afraid, Mary! I bring you good news. You will
have a baby, and you will name Him Jesus. He will be very special and will be the Son
of God!”
Hold the angel paper toy as you relate his message with a manly voice.
Be excited and animated on this part.

Mary was surprised and asked, “How can this be? I’m not married yet.” Gabriel
replied, “The Holy Spirit will come to you, and with God, nothing is impossible!”
Hold the Mary paper toy in your right hand and the angel paper toy in your left, facing
each other.
Use a “girl” voice for Mary and a “man” voice for the angel.

Mary’s Response:
Mary paused to reflect. She loved God and wanted to follow His will. She proclaimed,
“I am the Lord’s servant. I will do what He desires.”
Hold the paper toy, Mary, as you say, her commitment and faith to what God wants.
Let the kids repeat what Mary said aloud.

The Importance of Mary’s Faith:

Gabriel then told her about her cousin Elizabeth, who was also expecting a baby
despite her age and belief that she couldn’t. This served as a reminder that with God,
anything is possible!

Mary’s Journey:
After the angel left, Mary was filled with joy and peace. She couldn’t wait to tell
Joseph and her family the news. She knew that this baby would bring hope to the
world.
Make the angel appear flying and hide it on your back.
Make Mary “hop” around the table and then place her on the DIORAMA.

Questions for Discussion:

1.What message did God send to Mary through the angel Gabriel?
2.How did Mary’s response demonstrate her unwavering faith in God?
3.What can we learn from Mary’s response and her faith?
Angel Gabriel’s Visit to Mary Story
(FAITH IN GOD AND HIS PLANS)

Say: This story highlights the importance of faith and trust in God's plans. Mary’s
steadfast faith gave her the courage to say "yes" to what God asked of her, allowing
her to trust in something beyond her sight.

General Truth:
THE BIRTH OF
JESUS IS ABOUT
FAITH IN GOD
AND HIS PLANS.

LOOK: Say: Mary trusted God and His plans by faith. Many years later, she
witnessed that her son, now a man, was God in the flesh. Let us
reflect on this song and be blessed together.
SONG FOR REFLECTION: “Mary Did You Know?”
Play the song and distribute the lyrics. Have the kids sing along with it. Then, let them imagine Mary looking at
her baby son, Jesus, the Savior of the world.

Ask:
1. Just as Mary had a special purpose in her life, do you realize that God also has a beautiful
purpose for you?
2. What fears or worries do you need to surrender to Jesus in faith, just like Mary?
3. Can we, like Mary, say, “Yes, Lord, to your plans and ways” with our faith?

Memory Verse: Luke 1:38

(Older Kids) “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.”
(Younger Kids) “I am the Lord’s servant.”

MV Activity: Go through the motions: Have kids create or learn motions to accompany the
verse. Don’t stop with hand motions; encourage kids to involve their whole bodies—stomping,
turning, jumping, etc. Let kids be creative!

Say: Mary trusted God’s divine plan for her life despite her fears and
uncertainties. Mary’s desire to serve God exceeds her fears of the
unknown. This is Mary’s unwavering faith in action! And this is her
TOOK:
Christmas story.
CLOSING ACTIVITIES:
1.Prayer of Faith
Form a big circle and hold hands together as you lead in prayer of faith to Jesus.
Final Challenge: May you continue to put your faith in Jesus and obey Him more this
Christmas season, as Mary did!
Angel Gabriel’s Visit to Mary Story
(FAITH IN GOD AND HIS PLANS)

2. Class Task:
(Older Kids) FAITH POSTER
Using a white cartolina and colored pens, instruct the kids to write Luke 1:38 (MV) in big,
creative letters. Then, ask them to trace their hand on the edge of the Word Art and write a
prayer of faith on it. Have them write their name, too. Once they are done, hang the
poster in the classroom or Junior Church to share their faith to everyone!

STORY PART 2: THE BIRTH OF JESUS

Passage: Luke 1:26-38
(Note: Give a “Bible” sticker to kids who bring their Bibles.)

Setting the Scene:

Gather the kids around the table where you can visibly place the PAPER TOYS. You can use
props like a DIORAMA backdrop (see attached) to make it more creative and engaging!

Instruct kids to open their Bibles to the passage and read it silently. After reading the Bible
passage, tell the Bible Story Summary below:

Lesson 1 Review:
Last Sunday, we heard about the Angel Gabriel (show the angel paper toy), visiting
Mary (show the paper toy), and delivering God’s message to her. She is to have a baby,
and his name will be Jesus. He will be very special, for he is the Son of God. Although
it would be impossible for Mary, the angel assured her, through her older cousin’s
pregnancy, that with God, nothing is impossible.

What was Mary’s reply? Let us recite our Memory Verse together with action: Luke
1:28, “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.”
Mary’s Christmas story is about her faith in God and her desire to serve Him
according to His plans.

Now, let us continue the Christmas Story…

The Census:
One day, the Roman Emperor, Caesar Augustus, ordered everyone to go to their
hometowns to be counted. This was called a census.

Activity: Have kids take the census in their class for about 5 minutes. Have them add up the
total number of people in all the families.

In the Bible, when the government did a census (or a list of people along with
information about their families), it was so they could get money (or tax) from people.
So now, you must give me 100 pesos for every person in your class.
(Pause for a reaction, and then tell kids you’re just kidding about them owing you money but
that the government in the Bible did do that.)

The Journey to Bethlehem:

Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem because that was his family’s hometown. Mary was
pregnant, so they traveled a long way to get there. When they arrived, the town was
very crowded, and they couldn’t find a place to stay. Every inn was full!
“Walk” Joseph and Mary paper toys on the table and “appear” tired from walking.
Bring the paper toys to the kids and “ask” them if there are places to stay. Let kids
respond with a resounding “None!”
Be as animated as you can as you relate the story!

Finally, a kind innkeeper told them they could stay in his stable, where the animals
lived.
Bring Joseph and Mary to the kids and “ask” one of them if there is still room. He will
answer, “Yes!”
The Birth of Jesus Story
(GOD’S INCREDIBLE LOVE)

The Birth of Jesus:

That night, Mary gave birth to baby Jesus. She wrapped him in cloth and laid him in a
manger, an animal feeding box. This was a very special birth because Jesus was the
Son of God!
Arrange the Nativity Paper Dolls on the table, including the animals and the manger.

The birth of Jesus reveals God's incredible love for us. All the characters and events
surrounding this moment emphasize God's desire to save humanity from sin. The
Christmas story illustrates how God sent His Son, Jesus, to be born as a baby in
humble circumstances. It is remarkable that God Himself became man!

The name Jesus even means, “God is my salvation!” Later in his life, he fully
demonstrated His greatest love towards us by dying on the cross. On the third day, he
rose from the grave. He is, indeed, the God who can save! (cf. Matthew 1:21)

Questions for Recap:

1.Who are the characters in our story today? Briefly describe each one.
2.How does the name JESUS relate to God’s incredible love towards mankind?
3. What, then, is the essence of the Christmas Story?

General Truth:
THE BIRTH OF
JESUS IS ABOUT
GOD’S INCREDIBLE
LOVE TO MAN.

Say: We started our lesson by asking, “Who loves you the most/very
LOOK: much?” You have different answers, although most of you have similar
answers (presumably, Dad & Mom!). But let us ponder this question
again by reflecting on this Christmas Song.
SONG FOR REFLECTION: : “Silent Night” by The Good and Beautiful
Play the song and distribute the lyrics. Have the kids sing along with it. Then, let them imagine Mary looking at
her baby son, Jesus, the Savior of the world.

Ask:
1. WHO do you think loves us the greatest? WHY?
2. WHAT should we do then in response to Jesus’ love?
3. This Christmas, to WHOM will we share about Jesus and His love?
The Birth of Jesus Story
(GOD’S INCREDIBLE LOVE)

MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 4:9

(Older Kids) “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into
the world.”
(Younger Kids) “God sent his one and only Son.”

MV Craft: Christmas Balls

(Older Kids) Instructions:
1. Create Word Art or Drawing: On the Christmas Ball template (back-to-back), ask kids to

colors, shapes, and designs! Remind the kids that the goal is to express God's love
through their drawing.
2. Cut Out the Ball: After finishing the artwork, carefully cut out the Christmas Ball shape.
3. Add a String: Have kids attach a string to their Christmas Ball so they can hang it. Once
done, the beautiful ornament will be ready to hang on the Christmas tree!

STORY PART 3: ANGELS VISIT THE SHEPHERDS

Passage: Luke 2:8-20
(Note: Give a “Bible” sticker to kids who bring their Bibles.)

Setting the Scene:

Gather the kids around the table where you can visibly place the PAPER TOYS. You can use
props like a DIORAMA backdrop (see attached) to make it more creative and engaging!

Instruct kids to open their Bibles to the passage and read it silently. After reading the Bible
passage, tell the Bible Story Summary below:

Lessons 1&2 Review:

Show the paper toys according to their sequence in the Christmas story. Then, ask the kids
what happened and the lesson behind each character’s story.
1. Who visited Mary, and what was his message? What was Mary’s response to
God’s message to her? (see Lesson 1 Story Summary)
Show the angel and Mary paper toys.
2. Who went to Bethlehem to have a census there? What happened in the manger?
(see Lesson 2 Story Summary)
Show the Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus, and manger paper toys.
(Note: After the review, cover the Nativity paper toys as new characters will be introduced in today’s story.)

Say:
By faith, Mary placed her faith in God and His plans. When Jesus was born, it showed
God’s incredible love for mankind. Now, let us see what happened next in our
Christmas Story.

(Play a soft Christmas instrumental music in the background as you tell the story.)

The Shepherds’ Evening:

One quiet night, out in the fields, some shepherds were taking care of their sheep.
They sat around a small fire, watching their flock and telling stories. The stars
twinkled brightly in the sky, and everything was peaceful.
Place the shepherds and sheep paper toys on the table.
You may also include fake grass as props.

The Angel Appears:

Suddenly, the night was filled with light! An angel appeared before the shepherds,
shining brightly. The shepherds were scared and didn’t know what to think.
Hold the angel paper toy above the shepherd’s and sheep’s paper toys.
You may also include a flashlight for this scene.

The Angel’s Message:

But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid! I bring you good news that will bring joy to
everyone. Tonight, a special baby was born in Bethlehem. He is God’s Son, and you
will find Him lying in a manger.”

The shepherds looked at each other in amazement. The angel continued, “You will
know Him by the sign of the manger, where you’ll find the baby wrapped in swaddling
clothes.”
Angels Visit the Shepherds’ Story
(CELEBRATION OF INDESCRIBABLE JOY)

Hold the angel paper toy above the shepherd’s and sheep’s paper toys.
Hold the shepherds as if they are “talking” to one another.

The Angels’ Choir:

Then, just as quickly as the angel had come, a whole choir of angels appeared in the
sky, singing beautiful songs of praise to God. They sang, “Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on Earth!”
Ask kids to hold the angels and shepherds’ paper toys.
Lead the class in singing the chorus, “Gloria in Excelsis Deo!”

The Shepherds’ Indescribable Joy:

When the angels finished singing, they disappeared into the sky, and the shepherds
were excited and joyful. They decided to go to Bethlehem immediately to see the
baby.
Ask kids to stand and jump for joy, just like the shepherds did!
Hold the shepherd’s paper toys as you jump with joy with them.

The Shepherds Worshiped Jesus:

They hurried through the streets and soon found Mary and Joseph. The tiny baby was
in the manger, just as the angel had said. The shepherds were happy as they knelt to
see the newborn King.
Open the Nativity scene and place the shepherds before the baby Jesus.
Ask the kids to kneel and worship Jesus, too!

The Shepherds Spread the Good News:

After they visited, the shepherds shared the wonderful news with everyone they met,
still praising and glorifying God. They told everyone about the angels and the special
baby who would bring peace and joy to the world.
Ask the children to pass around the shepherds’ paper toys carefully and say to one
another, “Joy to the world! Our Savior is born!”

And from that night on, the shepherds knew they had witnessed something truly
miraculous. Indeed, the First Christmas was celebrated with the indescribable joy of
praise and worship to God’s Son, Jesus, the Savior of the world.
Display the Nativity paper toys with the shepherds and angels.
The shepherds make a “bow” as you end the story.

Activity: Follow the Star Treasure Hunt

This activity's idea is similar to a paper trail, except we will follow the stars.
1. Print or cut out star shapes and hide them in different places.
2. For younger children, you can simply have them follow the trail.
3. For older kids, you can hide one star in each location with clues to where to find the next
star.
😊
4. The last star holds a “treasure,” a gift. Reward it to the first one who can find it.

TRANSITION: Today, we will continue our Christmas Story with the wise men seeking the
child Jesus, following a star. Let us find out HOW they celebrated the birth of the Savior.

Teaching Method:
Option 1: DIORAMA (My Little House: Christmas Dioramas)
Option 2: BIBLE PAPER TOYS (Bible Paper Toys - My Little House)
Instructions:
BOOK:
1. Assemble Nativity Paper Toys ahead of time.
2. Follow the assembly instructions in the provided link or attached file.
3. Lesson 4: The Wise Men, Joseph, Mary, Child Jesus Paper Toys ONLY

STORY PART 4: THE WISE MEN SEEK JESUS

Passage: Matthew 2:1-15
(Note: Give a “Bible” sticker to kids who bring their Bibles.)

Setting the Scene:

Gather the kids around the table where you can visibly place the PAPER TOYS. You can use
props like a DIORAMA backdrop (see attached) to make it more creative and engaging!
The Wise Men Seek Jesus Story
(WORSHIP THROUGH TIME & TREASURES)

Instruct the kids to open their Bibles to the passage and read it silently. After reading the
Bible passage, tell the Bible Story Summary below:

Lessons 1-3 Short Review:

Show the paper toys according to their sequence in the Christmas Story. Then, ask the kids
what happened and the lesson behind each character’s story.
1. The Angel Gabriel & Mary (Faith in God)
2. The Birth of Jesus (God’s Love)
3. The Angels Visit the Shepherds (Joy to the World)

(Note: After the review, cover the Nativity paper toys as the last Christmas characters will be introduced in
today’s story.)

Review Summary:
With faith, Mary trusted in God and His plans. The birth of Jesus demonstrated God's
incredible love for mankind. It also prompted the angels to praise God while the
shepherds expressed their indescribable joy and worshiped the newborn Jesus. Now,
let's discover the following characters who complete our Christmas story.
(Play a soft Christmas instrumental music in the background as you tell the story.)

The Birth of Jesus and the Star:

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem, some wise men from the East, also known as the
Magi, saw a bright star in the sky. They recognized that this star was special and
signified the birth of a new king. Excited, they followed the star to find the new king
they wanted to worship and bring gifts to.
Place the wise men and their horse’s paper toys on the table.
Ask one kid to hold a star for the wise men to “follow.”

The Wisemen’s Journey:

After a long journey, they arrived in Jerusalem and asked King Herod, "Where is the
new king we are looking for?" King Herod was surprised and a bit worried; he didn’t
want anyone to take his throne! He asked the wise men to find the baby and inform
him of the location so he could go and worship him, too. However, he secretly
intended to harm the baby.
Show a picture of King Herod. (There is no Herod paper toy.)
Ask three kids to hold the Wise Men while telling this part.

The Wise Men Found Jesus and Gave Him Gifts:

The wise men followed the star until it stopped over the place where the child Jesus
was. They were joyful when they found him and presented him with their gifts of gold,
frankincense, and myrrh.
Uncover the Nativity paper toys (show Joseph, Mary & baby Jesus ONLY).
The Wise Men “worshiped” Jesus and “presented” him with their gifts.

That night, the wise men dreamed of being warned not to return to King Herod
because of his bad intentions. They decided to take a different route home to ensure
the safety of baby Jesus.
“Walk” the wise men’s paper toys in the opposite direction.
Ask the kids to bid “farewell” to the wise men as they return to their land.

That’s the story of how the wise men followed the star to seek and offer gifts to Jesus,
the King of the Jews and the Savior of the world. Their Christmas Story is about wor-

shipping Jesus through their commitment to finding Him despite their long, perilous
journey (TIME) and offering Him precious gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh
(TREASURES).

Questions for Recap:

1.Who are the characters in our story today? Briefly describe each. (Include Herod)
2.What was the purpose of the Wise Men in seeking the baby Jesus?
3. How did they worship Jesus throughout their journey to Bethlehem until they found Him?

General Truth:

LOOK:
Say: Let us journey with the Wise Men through a song!

SONG FOR REVIEW: “We Wise Men”

(3) WE WISE MEN | Christmas Around The World | Lyric Video - FLC - YouTube
Play the song and assign costumes to the kids. Have them interpret or act out the song while singing it. Give
them a few minutes to practice, then let them present their musical presentation. Give tokens to the whole
class for a job well done.

Say: The Wise Men seek to bow down in worship before the child Jesus. Let us do likewise
and be reminded through our Memory Verse.

Memory Verse: Matthew 2:11

(Older Kids) “The Wise Men bowed down and worshiped (Jesus). They gave him gold, incense
and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11 (NIRV)
(Younger Kids) “The Wise Men worshiped Jesus and gave him gifts.”

MV Activity: (Older Kids) Exploding “Stars”

Write or type the Bible words or phrases on a yellow star-shaped sheet of paper, using
reasonably small print. Carefully roll or fold each word and insert it into a balloon opening.
Include cut-out golden yellow stars as confetti. Blow up the balloons and tie them. Place the
balloons in a mixed-up pile. Have kids take turns popping the balloons, getting the words,
and putting them in order.
(Younger Kids) MV Word Art (see attachment)
The Wise Men Seek Jesus Story
(WORSHIP THROUGH TIME & TREASURES)

Say: The First Christmas is about giving. God gave His Son to save us,
and the Wise Men gave their time (traveling from afar) and treasures TOOK:
(gifts) as their WORSHIP to Jesus.
Ask: How about you? What will you give to Jesus this Christmas season as your act of
worship to Him?

CLOSING ACTIVITIES:
1.Final Challenge: Gift for Jesus
Prepare a box wrapped in a Christmas wrapper. Distribute paper and a pen to the kids and
have them write their “gift” to Jesus as their worship. It may be their time (like going to
Sunday School or reading the Bible) or treasures (like offering their offerings or giving their
preloved toys to those who need them).
2.Prayer of Commitment
Place the Christmas box at the center as you ask the kids to form a big circle and kneel.
Lead a prayer of commitment to always worship Jesus through their time and the blessings
He has given them.

Christmas Treasure Hunt: Place small Christmas-themed toys or treats around the
room and give the kids clues to find them.
Name That Tune: Kids will need to listen carefully in this Christmas game! Hum, just one
note of a Christmas song and see if anyone can guess which song it is. If no one can
guess, hum the first and second notes to give them more clues. Continue adding more
notes until someone correctly identifies the song. (Play several rounds. You can also let
kids be the hummers!)
Christmas Carol Freeze: Kids will run around the room in this fun Christmas game. But
they’ll have to listen carefully! When you shout out the name of a Christmas carol, kids
