* GREEN LED = POWER: This points out that the compressor is powered.

1 START: This button is used to turn the compressor on.


2 STOP: Press this button to stop the compressor

3 ARROWS: These are used to move around within the menus.

4 DEFAULT: This is used to exit programming, to save the settings and cancel any function.

5 PROGRAM: This button is used to activate the programming function.

6 RESET: This button is used to reset the compressor from an alarm condition.

DIGITAL DISPLAY The various menus are displayed and the parameters are monitored in

8 RED LED: This points out that an alarm has triggered or a warning condition.

The AIRBLOK rotary screw compressors are equipped with an Electronic Control Unit “AIR ENERGY
CONTROL” , the control panel of which is described in page 3.
The AIR ENERGY CONTROL controls machine operation in an efficient and safe manner.

CHECK THE SETTINGS


1 You can check the general settings of the control unit on the display by pressing the “Up arrow” or “Down
arrow” key on the push button control panel:

1 CLIENT SET UP MENU:


Once you have gained access, scroll the sub-menus using the “Up” and “Down” arrow keys of the push
button control panel; press the DEFAULT to exit.

1a Set up functions

To scroll the parameters indicated, press the “DOWN arrow” and “UP arrow” keys of the push button control
panel and press the “DEFAULT” key to exit.

MAX.P.CUSTOMER
SETUP (10.0) (Displayed text )

To change the Max. P. value (equal to 10 bar in the example given), press “PROGRAM” and enter the
replacement value in decimals, without commas using the “DOWN arrow” and “UP arrow” keys of the push
button control panel and press “PROGRAM.

Note! Max. P. must be at least 0.5 bar/7.2 psi lower than the Alarm P. (Max. P. – Min. P.) must be
greater than or equal to 0,5 bar/7,2 psi

To exit the menu, press the “DEFAULT” key.

MIN.P.CUSTOMER
SETUP (8.0) (Displayed text )

To change the Min. P. value (equal to 8 bar in the example given), press “PROGRAM” and enter the
replacement value in decimals, without commas using the “DOWN arrow” and “UP arrow” keys of the push
button control panel and press “PROGRAM”.

i.e.: To set Min. P. = 7.5 bar


- press “PROGRAM”
- enter “75”
- press “PROGRAM”

Note! Min. P. Must be greater than or equal to 5.5 bar/79.8 psi (Max. P. – Min. P.) must be greater than
or equal to 0,5 bar/7,2 psi

To exit the menu, press the “DEFAULT” key.

1b Enable setting for date

If enabled, you can use this function to set two daily start and two stop times by entering the start time and
the stop time where hh stands for hours and mm stands for minutes.
At the end of the week, you can set three inoperative periods where gg stands for days and mm stands for
months.

To disable it:
- press “PROGRAM”
- type-in “2” using the “UP arrow” or “DOWN arrow” button.
- press “PROGRAM”

To enable it:
- press “PROGRAM”
- type-in “1” using the “UP arrow” or “DOWN arrow” button.

To exit the menu, press the DEFAULT key.

Once you are back on message “PRESS START TO START”, press the START key to start programming
the calendar.

1c Setting the daily, weekly and monthly start and stop times

To change the value press “PROGRAM” and enter the replacement value using the “DOWN arrow” and “UP
arrow” keys of the push button control panel and press “PROGRAM.
Press START “WAITING START FOR DATE”

Note! If an asterisk appears on the digital display while the compressor is running, it means that the
calendar is activated.

The following menu allow:

1- Select the language of the displayed settings (italian, english, french, german, spanish polsky, Kroatian,
russian).
2- Select the pressure alarm level.
3- Select the compressor working by SINGLE, or MASTER, or SLAVE, according to the pneumatic system.
4- Select in case of use of remote control
5- Select the pressure unit (BAR/PSI)
6- Select the temperature unit displayed (Celsius, Fahrenheit).
7- To change the delta/star time from 4 to 10 sec
8- To change the re-start time in case of programmed stop.

Once you have gained access, scroll the sub-menus using the “Up” and “Down” arrow keys of the push

In case of connection of more compressors, set one of these compressors as MASTER, and the others as

To change settings digit “PROGRAM” and then the numbers of compressors connected (1 or 2 or 3 ) . Press
“PROGRAM” to confirm.

RESTART TIME

The example display illustrates that the time to RESTART (after press the STOP or START keys) is 15 sec.
(to depressurize completely the compressor/s).
To change this parameter press “PROGRAM” and enter the new value. Press “PROGRAM” to confirm.
NB: The setting time is between 16 / 60 sec.

Press the DEFAULT to exit.

ALLARMS
The alarms that may trigger can be grouped in two categories:
A) Stop ALARM (red steady LED)
B) Warning ALARM (red flashing LED)
C) INVERTER stopped and warning ALARMS (Red steady or flashing LED)

A: STOP ALARM

This type of alarm stops the compressor and is pointed out by the red steady LED (ALARM on
dashboard), by a beeping buzzer and by a flashing message on the display indicating the cause for the
actual alarm.

1. When the Pressure exceeds the limit alarm pressure (case in which the increase in pressure is so quick
that the max. cut-off pressure is unable to intervene) the following appears on the display:

THE COMPRESSOR STOPS! (the air/oil radiator fan start)


To reset the machine:
Once the temperature has dropped by at least 10°C/18°F compared to the limit temperature, press the
“RESET” key to set the compressor ready to start again.

2. The following may appears on the display:

ALARM LOW TEMP. (Displayed text )

THE COMPRESSOR WILL NOT START BACAUSE THE SCREW UNIT IS TOO COLD (-6°C).

To restart the machine:


If the temperature increase to –5°C, press the “RESET” key to set the compressor ready to start.

1. In case of thermal relay intervention, the following may appears on the display:

To restart the machine with star/delta starter:


Wait the motor temperature drop.
Remove the cause of fault and press the thermal relay reset key (F1) positioned inside the electric cabinet
and then press the RESET key on the main board.

To reset the machine with inverter:


The motor is equipped with internal “PTC” that stop the motor. Wait the motor temperature drop and then
press the RESET key on the main board.
NB: The machine is stopped until the motor temperature will not be dropped.

THE COMPRESSOR STOPS!

To restart the machine:


Once the temperature has dropped, remove the cause of the fault and press the thermal relay reset key (F6)
positioned inside the electric cabinet and then press the RESET key on the main board.
NB: In some models the thermal relay (F6) is replaced by an internal thermal sensor that , in case of over
temperature, stop the compressor. To restart the compressor wait the motor temperature drop and then
press the RESET key on the main board.

5. The following may appears on the display:

ROTATION

THE COMPRESSOR NOT RUN!

This alarm means that the electrical power supply cables have been connected incorrectly (relative to
the three phases).
When connected correctly, the screw unit and the fan motor will run in the correct direction
To reset the machine:
Once you have connected the cables correctly, press the “RESET” key on the control board.
NB: In SD models (equipped with inverter), only the fan motor can run in the incorrect direction. To reset
make the same corrections.

6. When the Pressure exceeds the limit alarm pressure (case in which the increase in pressure is so
that the max. cut-off pressure is unable to intervene) the following appears on the display:

To reset the machine:


Once the pressure has dropped (P < Alarm P.) press the “RESET” key to set the compressor ready to
start again.

B: WARNINGS

This type of alarm does not actually stop the compressor and is pointed out by the red flashing LED
(ALARM on dashboard), by a flashing message on the display indicating the warning.

This points out that the air filter is clogged. Replace it or clean it as soon as possible.

This points out that the oil separator filter in the separator tank is clogged. Replace the filter as soon
as possible.

MAINTENANCE TIME

This points out that the pre-established maintenance time has expired. Carry out the maintenance jobs
stated herein. To reset the maintenance hours, see item 1 and 2 of the “MAINTENANCE” menu.

Note: If the alarm flashes without the display indicating the cause, press the “UP” and “DOWN”
arrow keys on the push button control panel together at the same time to view an indication on the
cause.

C: INVERTER ALARMS - Stopped and Started


1. Alarm displayed:

AL. INVERTER NOT READY (displayed text)

Inverter check in progress. Await to start the compressor.

2. Alarm displayed:

AL. COMUNICATION (displayed text)

THE COMPRESSOR STOPS!

This points out that the serial communication between inverter and Air Energy control unit is interrupted.
Restore the communication then press the “RESET” key on the control board.

3. Alarm displayed:

THE COMPRESSOR STOPS!

In the case of an anomaly or fault in the inverter, some alarms appear on the control unit on two different
lines of the viewer: STATUS WORD1 and STATUS WORD2 with a number of special codes that identify the
type of fault and possible solution. These alarms cause the compressor to stop. The alarm is pointed out by
the red flashing LED and buzzer. A list of all the types of alarms that may trigger together with their possible
solutions follows below. The following could appear on the display:

Short-circuit in motor cables or motor.

To restore machine operation:


Eliminate the cause for the fault.
Press the RESET button on the keypad of the ACS550 INVERTER inside the electric cabinet.
Press the “RESET” key on the control board to set the compressor ready to start again.

2 STATUS WORD1: 00001 (Displayed text )

Excessive output current.

THE COMPRESSOR STOPS!


Solution:
Check the motor load. Check the motor and the motor cable (including the timing). Ensure there are no
correction condensers of the power factor or input circuits of the transistors in the motor cable.

To restore machine operation:


Eliminate the cause for the fault.
Press the RESET button on the keypad of the ACS550 INVERTER inside the electric cabinet. Then press
also the “RESET” key on the control board to set the compressor ready to start again

3 STATUS WORD1: 00002 (Displayed text )

Excessive dc voltage in the intermediary circuit.

THE COMPRESSOR STOPS!

Solution:
Check for excessive static or transitory voltages in the mains.

To restore machine operation:


Eliminate the cause for the fault.
Press the RESET button on the keypad of the ACS550 INVERTER inside the electric cabinet. Then press
also the “RESET” key on the control board to set the compressor ready to start again.

4 STATUS WORD1: 00004 (Displayed text )

The temperature within the inverter is excessive. The tripping level of the temperature of the inverter module
is 115°C.

THE COMPRESSOR STOPS!

Solution:
Check the surrounding conditions. Ensure there is sufficient air circulation and check if the fan of the electric
control panel is working.
Ensure there is no dust on the fins of the inverter dissipator.
Ensure the filters on the hatch of the electric control panel are not dirty.

To restore machine operation:


Eliminate the cause for the fault.
Press the RESET button on the keypad of the ACS550 INVERTER inside the electric cabinet. Then press
also the “RESET” key on the control board to set the compressor ready to start .

5 STATUS WORD1: 32768 (Displayed text )

Possible fault in the motor or in the motor cables .

THE COMPRESSOR STOPS!

Solution:
Check and eliminate the cause for the fault in to the wiring harness.

To restore machine operation:


Eliminate the cause for the fault.

Solution:
Check the mains fuses. Check for anomalies in the mains power supply.

7 STATUS WORD1: 00032 (Displayed text )

internal fault of a rectifier bridge.

Solution:
Check the mains power supply, the fuses and the power supply voltage.

Internal heat probe faulty.

Solution:
Internal fault. The thermistor that measures the internal temperature of the inverter is open or has
shortcircuited.

Contact the manufacturer.

Check if the levels of the analogue control signal are correct. Check the control cabling.

Check the fieldbus communication status. Check the connections of the cables. Check if the master is able
to communicate.

The motor nearly stalls, for example due to excessive loads or insufficient motor power.

Check the load of the motor and the drive data nameplate.
