Waiting on God's Timing
At times, we find ourselves waiting in life, whether it’s for a breakthrough, the
fulfillment of a promise, or the end of pain. During these waiting periods, it may feel
as if God is not listening to us, that He is distant, or that our prayers go unanswered.
However, the Bible encourages us to have faith in God’s perfect timing. Let’s look
through some key points on waiting.
A). A Heavy Heart: The Reality of Waiting
Waiting can be challenging, stressful, and painful. It is more than just the passage of
time; it often comes with sorrow, dissatisfaction, fear, and deep desire. Whether we
are anticipating a job opportunity, hoping for healing, or longing for a wayward loved
one to return, waiting can sometimes feel like a season filled with unanswered prayers.
The emotions associated with waiting are not overlooked in the Bible. In fact, many
psalms and stories of God's people express deep cries of desperation and intense
sadness during times of waiting.
David honestly expresses his sadness, revealing that he is in a state of deep waiting
and feels as though God is absent. He struggles with the pain of unanswered questions,
and his spirit is overwhelmed with sorrow. This psalm reminds us that it's acceptable
to cry and share our tears with God, for He hears them.
The psalmist describes feeling overwhelmed with tears and a sense of distance from
God, even as others mock and question his faith. This illustrates the emotional burden
of waiting, which can feel like a grief that consumes us, leaving us feeling empty, lost,
and broken. However, even in the depths of these emotions, God invites us to cry out
to Him.
B). The Timing of God: Yet Painful, But Perfect.
Waiting for God's timing can be challenging, but the Bible assures us that His timing
is always perfect, even when it doesn't align with our own expectations. We must
remember that God perceives time differently than we do.
Waiting often makes us feel like we are in a waiting area, with no idea why God is
taking so long or what He is doing. But the actuality is, He sees a broader perspective.
He always has a good plan and understands the end from the beginning. Waiting is
sometimes required for God to mold us, prepare us, or get the right circumstances for
growth in our lives.
My beloved brothers and sisters, though waiting can feel painful and lengthy, I want
to remind us that God is actively working behind the scenes to make everything
lovely in its appointed time. This is the beauty of waiting. Our tears are not in vain.
C) . Waiting: An indication of Trust
Waiting means patience, which is a sign of trust. It is a proof that we think God is in
charge and that He is good and has perfect timing. Even while waiting might be
difficult, it can be a powerful form of surrender when we let go of our need for control
and have faith that God will keep His word.
Waiting on God is not a passive act; it is an active expression of faith that encourages
us to depend on His strength. During this waiting period, God often strengthens us in
ways we cannot foresee. He renews our strength and provides us with the
perseverance to keep moving forward, even when we feel that we can't.
Quietly waiting in God's presence can be a sign of faith. We are encouraged to look
for Him, to wait on Him, and to put our faith in His ability to deliver while we wait.
Though it feels heavy, this is where we find peace.
D). The Struggle/Pain of Waiting and the Beauty of God's Presence
As we wait, we find comfort in the presence of God. In our tears and silence, He
remains close to the brokenhearted. God is near to those who are grieving and
yearning. The Bible teaches us that we do not wait alone; God walks with us through
every moment of our waiting.
Waiting can feel like an isolated experience, but God’s presence is our comfort. Even
when He seems silent, He is there, watching over us, and He will not leave us in our
pain.
The apostle Paul reminds us that even though our current sufferings and the waiting
we endure may seem overwhelming, they are not the final chapter. There is glory
ahead—an eternal weight of glory that will make all our tears and struggles
worthwhile.
E). Waiting as a Gift of Grace
Ultimately, waiting is a gift. In the waiting, we are drawn closer to God, our faith is
refined, and we become more like Christ. The tears of waiting are not wasted. God is
using this process to work within us, shape our hearts, and prepare us for the good
things He has planned.
Waiting is a form of preparation. Like a farmer waiting for the harvest, we trust that in
due season, God will bring forth His good purposes. Our patience will bear fruit in the
right time.

Prayer:
INDIVIDUAL
Dear Heavenly Father,
You understand the burden on my hearts as I wait for You. I come before You
with my tears, doubts, and fears. I acknowledge that waiting is difficult, and I
often feel as if You are far from me. However, I trust that Your timing is perfect
and that You are working behind the scenes, even when I cannot see it. Please
grant me the grace to wait patiently and the strength to endure, knowing that
You are with me during this waiting period. Help me hold on to Your promises
and find rest in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
