Okay, let's start our discussion. Everyone,
please sit up straight.
Let us begin by defining the term
techniques.
Technique is a procedure or way
something is done. It is also a strategy to be
use in organizing information.
C. Discussing There are various techniques can be
new concepts employed for the organization of
and practicing information.
new skills #1
A. BRAINSTORMING
What is brainstorming?
Yes JP. JP: Brainstorming is a process of
writing down specific topics gathered
from different sources. It involves
documenting and coming up with a list
of topics. On a brainstorming list,
simply write down all the words or
ideas that come to your mind about a
topic.
Great! Thank you.
This brainstorming can be an individual or
a group. Using this technique, the ideas are
easily gathered from the members.
Steps on how to organize information
through a brainstorming list:
1. Think of a general topic.
2. Brainstorm ideas based on the topic and
make a list. You may draw lines, arrows, or
stars, to show connections between various
topics
3. Eliminate the topics that will not provide
enough information, and then free to write.
Example
Topic: Cyberbullying
Foul language violence
name calling * shaming *
censorship * power *
opinions depression
arguments ego and insecurity
threats *
Cross out topics that might not generate or
add enough information for writing.

B. GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS
Who among you has the idea of what
graphic organizer is? Mark:Sir! A Graphic Organizer uses
visual symbols that express thoughts,
Yes, Mark. ideas, knowledge concepts, and the
relationships between them.
Fantastic!
Graphic organizers are a way to organize
information visually to see how ideas relate
to one another. As communication tool, it
makes it easier for writers to classify
their ideas and to communicate them
to others. It helps the writer to be more
coherent.
Different kinds of graphic organizers:
1. Mind Maps - Visual diagrams used
to represent concepts, ideas, or
information, with a central idea in the
middle and related ideas branching
out.
2. Venn Diagrams - Overlapping
circles used to compare and contrast
different items or ideas, highlighting
similarities and differences.
3. Flowcharts - Diagrams that show
the steps in a process or sequence,
often using arrows to indicate the flow
of information.
4. Concept Maps - Diagrams that
illustrate relationships between
concepts, often using boxes or circles
connected by lines or arrows.
5. Hierarchical Topical Organizer -
A hierarchical topical organizer shows
the order of ideas and their place in a
hierarchy.
6. Timelines - Linear representations
of events in chronological order, often
used to illustrate historical events or
project timelines.
C. OUTLINING
Outlining is the general plan of what
you intend to write. A topic outline is a
list of ideas arranged in a specific
order, and it shows how information is
presented in writing.
Two levels of topic outline:
1. Headings - The headings represent
the main ideas and are indicated by
Roman numerals.
2. Subheadings - The subheadings
represent the supporting ideas; they
are indicated by capital letters and are
indented.
Example.
