A. Various types of vouchers
In Tally Prime, vouchers are used to record business transactions. Vouchers
in Tally are categorized based on the type of transactions, and they allow
businesses to track their financial activities efficiently. Below is an explanation of
the various types of vouchers in Tally, including how to create them in both
single-entry and double-entry modes, along with the associated shortcut keys
Types of Vouchers in Tally
Tally includes several predefined vouchers, but you can also create new
ones as per the requirements of your business. Some of the vouchers are as
follows:

a)Sales Voucher
oRecords sales transactions.
oBoth credit and cash sales can be recorded. Includes GST, discounts, etc.
b) Purchase Voucher
oRecords purchases of goods and services.
oBoth credit and cash purchases can be entered.
c)Payment Voucher
oRecords payment transactions, such as payments to suppliers or expenses.
oCash, bank, or other payment methods can be used.
d) Receipt Voucher
oRecords receipts from customers or any other income.
oCan be cash or bank receipts.
e)Contra Voucher
oUsed for transactions between cash and bank accounts.
oTypically used for bank deposits or withdrawals.
f)Journal Voucher
oNon-cash transactions like adjustments, provisions, depreciation, etc.
g) Credit Note Voucher
oRecords sales returns or adjustments against previous sales.
h) Debit Note Voucher
oRecords purchase returns or adjustments against previous purchases.

B. Voucher creation under single entry and double entry mode.
Tally allows you to create vouchers in two different modes:

a)Single Entry Mode Single Entry mode is simpler and is mainly used for
novice users or in small businesses.
Here, you only need to select one ledger account, either debit or credit, and Tally
automatically balances the entry by showing the other ledger.
Step 1: Open the gateway of tally > Voucher > Change mode

b) Double Entry Mode Double Entry mode is the default method in Tally. This
method requires
you to select both
debit and credit accounts, making it suitable for accountants and businesses
where detailed control of accounts is required. For double entry change, the
mode to “double entry mode”.
