CLASS VIII MATHS WINTER BREAK HOMEWORK

CCT ITEM 1 (FACTORISATION)


KITTY PARTY

Today, there is a Kitty Party at Avni’s house and she has invited her friends for the
party. Avni has decided to make two types of recipes for the Kitty Party, where
she has made a recipe of Aloo Matar and of a Matar paneer. For that she has
bought 4kg potatoes, 2 kg Peas and 3kg Cheese. In two recipes, she has used
equal quantity of peas, whereas the quantity of tomatoes can be increased or
decreased as per the need of recipe.

If the quantity of vegetables wasted during peeling or cutting them is equal to


the amount of water added in two recipes then answer the following questions of
Avni.

QUESTION 1: If the above recipe has to be represented in the form of an


algebraic expression, then which vegetable would be considered as variable?
QUESTION 2: Which vegetable(s) will be taken as constant term that has/have
been bought by Avni?

QUESTION 3: How will you write the recipe made by Avni as a factor of an
algebraic expression?

QUESTION 4: Which identity can be used to solve the algebraic expression


obtained in the question no. 3?

QUESTION 5: If 300 gm of tomatoes has been used in the recipes and each
woman has been served as 150 gm of recipe then how many women were
present in the kitty party?

CCT ITEM 2 CLASS VIII (FACTORISATION) SHOPPING

Vinayak has got a reward, as some amount of money, for his good work in the
company, from his boss. So, Vinayak has decided to buy something for his family
from the money he has received
For his children he has bought some sweets and chocolates at a price of 𝑹𝒔 𝒙 𝟐 +
𝒚𝒛 − 𝒙𝒚 − 𝒛𝒚.

For his wife he has bought a saree @ 𝑹𝒔 𝟒𝟗𝒚𝟐 + 𝟖𝟒𝒚𝒛 + 𝟑𝟔𝒛𝟐 and for himself he
has bought one jeans pant @ 𝑹𝒔 𝟓𝒚𝟐 − 𝟐𝟎𝒚 − 𝟖𝒛 + 𝟐𝒚𝒛.

On the basis of above information answer the following questions:

QUESTION 1: Factorize the expression which represents the cost price of sweets
and chocolates.

QUESTION 2: If Rs (𝒙 − 𝒚) has been spent on chocolate then what is the cost price
of Sweets?

QUESTION 3: The expression which represent the cost of Saree, is an expanded


form of which identity?

QUESTION 4: Factorize the expression which represents the cost of Saree.


QUESTION 5: Factorize the expression which represents the cost of Jeans.

Q3 A copper wire of length 44 cm is to be bent into a square and a circle.


Which will have a larger area?

Q4 The length and breadth of a rectangle are in the ratio 4 : 3. If its


perimeter is 154 cm, find its length and breadth.

Q5 The areas of a rectangle and a square are equal. If the length of the
rectangle is 16 cm and breadth is 9 cm, find the side of the square.

Q 6 Draw the front, side and top views of the following 3-D figures.

Draw the nets of the following polyhedrons. (i) Cuboid ,CUBE
