In this second meeting we learn about Grammar: “preposition of time”
and “preposition of place”.
A. PREPOSITION OF TIME
We use many different prepositions for talking about time. Here we are
looking at: in, on, at, during and for.
We use in, on and at for lots of different times. Here’s a table comparing the uses:
in on at
Months: in January / in Days of the week: on
April Monday
Seasons: in spring / in Days + parts of days: on
winter Tuesday afternoon / on Clock times: at 7.30
Years: in 1984 / in 2015 Saturday mornings a.m. / at 5 o’clock
Centuries: in the 20th Dates: on November Festivals: at
century 22nd Christmas / at Easter
Times of day: in the Special days: on my Exceptions: at night /
morning / in the evening birthday / on New Year’s at the weekend
Longer periods of time: in Eve
the past / in the 1990s / in
the holidays
1. Prepositions of Time Exercise
Put in the correct preposition (choose in / on / at). If no preposition is
needed put in -.

B. PREPOSITION OF PLACE
Preposition of place are used to show the position or location or thing in the
relation to another.
