l. Title of project: Restructuring and Enhancing Strategies with a Transformative AppRoach fbr InTegrated
Water Disaster Management in lndia and the Netherlands-RESTARTIN
2. Sponsor of the project: Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India
3. Project position(s) and number: Project Scientist Il (one position)
4. Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Water Resources/Civil/Agricultural/Environmental Engineering or other relevant disciplines
5. Emoluments: Rs. 67,000/- per month + 9% HRA for the first 2 years
6. Duration: up to the project completion (December 2027 tentative)
7. Job description and requirements: The Project Scientist II will be involved in
- Developing integrated flood and drought process-based models at both urban and basin scale
- Understanding the integrated flood and drought response mechanisms and management and proposing
recommendations
- Fundamentals of water resources engineering. applied hydrology, surface and groundwater processes.
climate extremes, agricultural engineering. remote sensing. etc'
- Helping the field assistant in (i) collecting tield data such as hydrometeorological/crop/socio-economic data
from various sites and institutions across lndia (specifically in and around Tamil
Nadu/Kerala/Maharashtra). (ii) performing tield measurements of flood inundation area and depth.
srream/river stage, discharge, crop biomass and yield, etc., and (iii) conducting surveys in the freld sites
- Supervise 3 JRFs and I Field Assistant of this project based on the Pl's inputs
- Overall project management: Conducting bi-weekly meetings in coordination with the Indian and the Dutch
institutions as per the instructions of PI, helping the PI in organizing workshops and other meetings,
communication with intra/inter institutional PIs/Co-PIs/students/staffs, managing purchases. monitoring
the project budgets, etc.
- Helping the field assistant as well as conduct lab testing of water/soil samples for quality
- Any other tasks assigned bY the PI
- Knbwledge in (i) SWnfISWAT+/HecHMS/HecRAS/other urban flood and crop models and (ii) using
remote sensing datasets and Google Earth Engine
- Good Analytical skills
- Scientific publication records
- Experience in preparing technical project reports and programming languages. etc.
