Gulayan sa Paaralan Program


SY 2024-2025

Gulayan sa Paaralan Program is an activity which aim to promote proper nutrition and mitigate
hunger among learners. Eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables will help develop the body and
mind of the students, that is why all schools are encouraged to have this kind of program. Being one
with the economic and agricultural programs of the Local and National Government, the Department of
Education in partnership with the Department of Agriculture introduced a very concrete step to help
augment the low supply of food in the community. With this concept, food can be produced in our very
own backyard. Small scale gardening is introduced in the locality and to the different schools.

It is in this light, that, Gulayan sa Paaralan is conceptualized and materialized in every school.
With the concerted efforts of the teachers, Local Government Officials, and learners, Gulayan sa
Paaralan became a yearly and an ongoing activity in the whole province. Learners, teachers, and the
local folks as well are motivated to plant vegetables in school and at home. Food supply is enhanced and
improved. With this simple and dedicated endeavor, everyone can be a food producer for everybody’s
daily consumption.

Dauis Central Elementary school was formally recognized by the barangay Poblacion through the
Barangay Captain as one of the implementers of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program in the barangay and
was awarded by the District as the Champion in Urbanized/Containerized Gardening Category during the
District Search for the Best Gulayan sa Paaralan Implementer on February 9, 2024 for School Year 2023-
2024.

Dauis Central Elementary School Gulayan sa Paaralan enlightens and teaches our beloved pupils
to plant more vegetables not only in the school premises but also to the community. With this, pupils
learn to plant vegetables in their backyard that can be a source of food of their family. Seeds and
seedlings were also distributed to identified parents and learners as recipients for their backyard
gardening. This has also sustained the school-based feeding program, where in harvested crops are
given to the beneficiaries of the feeding program and the others are consumed by the teaching and non-
teaching personnel of the school. The program was continuously monitored by the teachers, Gulayan sa
Paaralan coordinator and school head.
